Story
Meet Clyde! This deaf sweetheart is looking for a compassionate and understanding forever home that will give him the unconditional love and acceptance he deserves. He's an incredibly loving and playful puppy who has great dog manners, and eagerly makes friends with dogs of all sizes. He needs a home with dog companions to stay happy and fulfilled, and would love to join your friendly and social pack. He's smart, eager to please, and sure to respond well to consistent positive reinforcement training. Clyde has been doing fabulously well in foster care, his foster mom tells us "He has been a super sweet house guest and has taught our middle-aged Vizsla to play. He has learned to sit and is on his way to learning to lie down. He doesn't like to be alone so it's pretty easy to get him to go places, come in from the yard etc. He loves to snuggle on the couch and the bed (usually sleeps using my legs as a pillow!). He did great at the Pet Food Express adoption Pop-Up events, he was great with all other dogs and wanted to meet them all. He is good on leash, especially when he has another dog to keep him moving. He much prefers to free range in our yard to do his business. He likes to chase shadows and can get stuck in a loop but it's easy to distract and redirect. This behavior happens much less if he gets a nice long walk that day". He can't wait to join a home that has done their deaf dog research and is excited to welcome him into their family! Apply today!

Catahoula Leopard Dog Mixed Breed (Large)

Female, Adult
Pacific Grove, CA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Looks like: Large Mixed Breed Female, 5 years old, 68 pounds Flora was part of a litter of puppies born to POMDR dog Nellie in 2018. She was an adorable puppy and has grown into a stunning dog, with her creamy coloring and mile-long legs. Flora is deeply devoted and attentive to the small circle of people she knows and trusts. She can be quite shy when meeting new people and requires some patience while she takes her time to warm up. Flora would do best in a home without young children and with no other animals. Flora has spent most of her life in the quiet countryside, so she can get nervous when exposed to new sights and sounds. She will need an adopter who understands how to keep her safe. She is a strong dog, so she also needs an adopter who is strong enough to handle her on a leash if she gets spooked. POMDR will provide an appropriate adopter with the tools, guidance, and a consultation with a private trainer to get Flora off to a good start in her new home. Flora was adopted, but returned to POMDR because her adopter's health declined and she was no longer able to provide Flora with the exercise and continued training she requires.
