Story
Sometimes we spend hours thinking of ways to describe our pets when the best description really does come from the foster family! Otto is in a foster home in Memphis, Tn and here are the words of his foster mom.... We loved him from the very beginning. His favorite place on earth is the dog park where he is always the most joyful, energetic ambassador for every new arrival, even the grumpy ones. He does not have an aggressive bone in his body. He took to the crate immediately especially when he figured out that there were treats involved. We dispensed with the crate after the first few days once we knew we could trust him unsupervised. He has learned that in our house dogs are not allowed on the furniture but we do have our suspicions that he curls up on the couch when we aren’t home. He is clever enough to hop down before we are through the door but not so clever as to straighten the cushions. He would love nothing more than to curl up next to you and share your blanket but settles for laying on your feet. He LOVES affection. We have a cantankerous German shepherd and he has managed to wrap her around his little paw with ease. They play non-stop and are quite the duo making our small space very challenging. He is extremely agile and flexible and loves to leap off our back porch in one bound (skipping all five steps) if there is a squirrel in the vicinity. Our German shepherd is very jealous and looks ridiculous when she tries to do the same. He can almost do a back bend which is pretty incredible (and quite something to see) and loves to stick his head straight up in the air which always makes us smile. I will admit that his leash walking needs work although it has improved. His enthusiasm when we walk past people or other dogs makes it hard for him to listen and if there is a squirrel involved forget it! His improvement does lead me to believe that with time and patience he can be trained to walk like a civilized canine. He LOVES food. We bought him a maze feeding dish because he inhales his food and eagerly looks forward to every breakfast and dinner. He knows he has to sit before you put his dish down so he starts sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor and sits-walks-sits-scoots his way to his dish. If you have a treat, he will go through every trick he knows hoping to land on the right one. So far, he can sit, lie down and high five, although it is hit or miss as to which one he will perform with any command. His antics will keep you laughing. We don’t have kids but there is no doubt in my mind that he would make a wonderful family dog. We do have a couple of dog-hating cats in our household that love to assert their authority. They trained him immediately and he only looks longingly at them. I have caught him in a hopeful downward dog as they approach trying to worm his way into their affections as well. I keep trying to tell him that it will never happen, but he is an optimist and keeps trying. If you would like to make this guy a special part of your family please follow the link below to our adoption application. Rescue vet Transport travels to the north east each and every weekend. Transport is an additional $165. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Winnie is a very happy, spunky 6 month old Catahoula mix who loves to play more than anything else! Well, she loves her humans too! Sprinting around the yard chasing other puppies is her fav activity, but she enjoys fetching toys too. Very well socialized, she gets along great with all dogs, my cats and oh so loves when children come to visit. Already spayed, kennel trained, doggy door mastered and uses pads on inclement weather days. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her cross? Happy should be her middle name. Such a sweet girl, she is waiting patiently to meet her new family. She is located in Central Arkansas, but we use a transport to the northeast every two weeks. Ask for videos of her today. For more information please message Tonya at 870-318-4161 or email t.maloy@yahoo.com Applications at helprescueark.org

Our pets are fostered and physically located in Mt.Airy,NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to your location or one of our other north eastern delivery locations. This pup is a Catahoula mix. This pup was born 10-20-22. This pup will not be overly large. My educated guess is around 35-40 pounds at maturity. This pup is shy. She warms up. This pup is great with other dogs and cats. We have started crate training and potty training. Frances is spayed! I will consider a reduced adoption fee to the right home. This pup will be current on vaccines, deworming, preventives. This pup will be micro-chipped. This pup will receive a physical and a certificate of health prior to going home. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. We require a prescreen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Nico is a very handsome boy with beautiful eyes. He needs to be on a strict routine. He shouldn't be in a home with young kids. He would have to be the only pet. He is strong and stubborn. He needs someone who will be consistent with him. He isn't friendly to other animals. He is very loyal and protective to his person. He needs a home with a yard. He needs a home where it is strict and the person(s) are patient. He is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Inquire about setting up a meet and greet.       ##1501785##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.A sweet temperament and a dazzling tiger-like coat are highlights for Alana. And that's only the start. Her strong, athletic body is a joy to watch even when she just walks across the room. Imagine her bounding across a field!  Catahoulas were bred to take on wild boar in the South and are very special, as they were brought into breed recognized existence by native Americans. Alana is still very young, at barely a year old, so she should have her entire life in front of her to be by your side. She has shown herself to get along well with other dogs, but we can't speak to cats, as she has not yet met one. This unique lady would be perfect for an individual or family that enjoys the outdoors and is active. On hiking trips she will do much more than just keep up, she will lead the way! She wants very much to be a family member and will try hard to follow your commands. Love will go a long way with this one in getting her to be the dog of your dreams.   If you are interested in Alana, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 8:31 pm

Story
Meet our Catahoula mix babies of between 3 and 4 months.  All girls, they make a fine litter of happy and energetic puppies.  They love to play with each other as well as other dogs, kids, and even their foster’s cat.  These girls all wear short coats, but of different colors.  Sofia is gray with white; Sema is tan with white; Shalene is white with black (and a bit of tan) and Sadie is brown with white.  Some bear Catahoula markings while others’ faces are enchantingly wrinkled in Sharpei fashion.  Between 20 and 25 puppy pounds, they will each mature to about 60. What a delight these baby girls are!  (posted 2/3/24, TN)  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  April 11, 2024, 5:29 pm

Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
Lacey is a pretty young, 2 year old, 50 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback mix girl that lived the first years of life on a chain outside in a man’s backyard.  She has had a few litters of pups and PREFERS to be the only queen of the house.  Being always chained, many dogs have a defensive attitude of being jumped on and often prefer to be the only pet in the home.  She is very sweet and loving and adores meeting new people and making friends.  She loves men especially and is gentle with children.  She is so very calm and easy going around the house.  She is not a fan of the crate because it is new to her.   She was never crated until now.  She doesn’t seem to be destructive at all in the house.  She loves sleeping on the bed at night and will sleep right next to you.  She has been in HEAVEN because she has never had the inside comforts of a home.  This smart girl can be taught so many things.  Please consider giving her a comfy and loving home and the life she deserves.  She is ready now!  She is housebroken and loves car rides and can travel to a new home anywhere.  If you want a well rounded and easy dog, you really need to pick Lacey!!!   Email Critter Cavalry Rescue and ask for an application to adopt.   Email:  ccrtennessee@gmail.com  She is ready to pack her bags and head fast as lightning to a new dog bed and people who will treat her like a Queen. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 12, 2024, 9:37 pm
