Story
Our pets are fostered and physically located in Mt.Airy,NC until adopted. Once adopted we can transport to your location or one of our other north eastern delivery locations. This pup is a Catahoula mix. This pup was born 10-20-22. This pup will not be overly large. My educated guess is around 35-40 pounds at maturity. This pup is extremely sweet and social. This pup is great with other dogs and cats. We have started crate training and potty training. Frances is spayed! This pup will be current on vaccines, deworming, preventives. This pup will be micro-chipped. This pup will receive a physical and a certificate of health prior to going home. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. We require a prescreen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
My name is Cricket and I am a super sweet and playful lady! I'm a gentle soul who plans on making my new family very happy. I love to play, snuggle and hang outside with you. I am also very smart and can't wait to learn new things. I would do best in a home without other animals. I just love humans way too much to share any attention with other pets. Interested in adopting me? We recommend submitting a general online adoption application and then heading to the shelter during our normal adoption hours to meet our available animals. Please note: all applications are considered general until the animal has been met. If you have any questions, please contact animalcenter@bmorehumane.org or 410-833-8848 Ext/Opt 2.

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Hooch is 3 years old and weighs 80lbs.  He's neutered, up to date on his vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Hooch has been trained and is currently in training with All-American Canine in Crownsville, MD.  He started with them about 6 months ago to see if there was any way the family could keep him.  Hooch dislikes and/or fears strangers and sudden noises/movements. BITE INCIDENT:  January 2022 in North Beach, Maryland.  The bite broke the skin, animal control was involved, but no medical attention was necessary.  Hooch's guardian states:  " Our friend was told not to approach the gate where Hooch was because he is not friendly to strangers. Her boyfriend entered the gated area because Hooch knew him and was comfortable with him. She thought because of this that he would be ok if she pet him. When she reached to let him, he lunged and nipped her nose but did not pursue attacking her, it all happened very quickly." Reason for Hooch's surrender:  "We got Hooch shortly after our daughters support dog passed away. She has autism and a chromosome disorder. She needed a new support dog/companion. It was the end of 2019 when we got Hooch and just a few months later Covid hit, right when we needed to put him through the proper training and socialization. He does not take well to children or strangers. However, we recently put him through training at American canine in Crownsville Maryland and he has shown significant progress. But, given the breed he is we are quickly realizing he is not a family dog, he is a farm dog and needs a lot more space to run and a A TON of time for training of which neither we can give him. He deserves a great life, he can be a GREAT dog for someone who is in need of a working dog and a home where there are no children.  We made the mistake of rushing to get a dog before understanding the breed fully and now I live in constant fear of my daughter getting hurt. That's not fair to Hooch or my daughter. " Hooch's guardian states the following about children:  Hooch lives with children 4 & 11 years old.  "He loves our youngest daughter and is very playful with her but our older daughter with special needs stresses him out, he does not take to her. They have to be separated at all times." Hooch's guardian states the following about dogs:  " He’s done great with our chiuahaha/dachshund mix, during training with All American K9 he was around other dogs but I don’t personally have much more experience with him and other animals. If acclimated properly I’m sure he could live with other dogs. At first he probably will not like the other dogs in the home." Hooch's guardian states the following about cats:  Hooch has not lived with or otherwise been around other cats.  Therefore, his guardian recommends against living with cats. Hooch's guardian describes his ideal home:  " A farm, where he can run, hunt or herd. Someone who has a lot of time to play with and train him. A home with no young children. Someone who is familiar with the Catahoula breed." Story
MEET SYLVESTER!This stunning 2 year old Catahoula leopard dog mix is 50 lbs of love.  Sylvester knows 'sit,' 'down,' and 'drop it' and is very treat motivated and trainable.  Sylvester gets along with other dogs and does especially well with dogs his energy level and higher. He does well in the car and enjoys rides, is house broken, and crate trained.  He's got the skills to be a fabulous member of a loving home.  Sylvester has lived successfully with cats and finds sheep, goats, and horses to be fascinating.  He is still a young dog, so we believe an active home or one with a fenced yard and some tennis balls would be ideal for his activity level.  Sylvester is waiting for his forever home and we're hoping that he gets his happily ever after soon.Sylvester's adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.  You can apply for Sylvester by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.September 26, 2023, 1:12 pm
