Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
My name is Winnie and I am anything but an 'old lady'.   I may be 7 years old and carrying a few extra pounds....63 to be exact, but I am a sharp cookie who is ready to help you drive around in your car and I will even stay quiet and not be a backseat driver.  I love car rides and I am ready to go at the drop of a hat.  I won't bore you with the rough circumstances I have come from.  What I really want to talk about with you is how sweet and loving and devoted I will be if you make me your girl.  You see, I am a breed that not a lot of people know to consider or go looking for.  I am a beautiful, mature, quiet Treeing Walker Coonhound.  When you look at the video attached to my post, you will see that I bark less than the girl dog who lives at the foster home permanently.  I say my say and I am brief.  I really know my house manners and I am just perfectly happy laying around in the kitchen if you are there, or the sofa if you are in the room, or even at the feet of my wonderful foster mom while she works in her home office.  I am the easiest companion dog you will ever find.  I am around two adorable children who are 10 years and younger.  I love them and they think I am pretty terrific too.  I have an idea.  If you are a retired couple and you want a walking buddy, then choose me!  If you want a dog that you can trust your grandchildren of any age, then choose me! If you want a calm, easy going dog that is not hyper or excessively fast energy, then choose me.  If you want a dog that you don't to groom like those designer purse dogs, then choose me because I can take a bath in the backyard when it is warm and I will love it.  And if you want a dog that will wag her tail with all the love and devotion that I have in my body, just to show you I am happy you are home, CHOOSE ME!  I want to live with people who like to sit in the Lazyboy and watch TV, people who walk around their yard and enjoy the beauty that God brings every Spring.  I want to belong to special people who love dogs and would never run them off with mean words.  I know there is someone out there who will love me just the way I am.  CHOOSE ME!  Write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.May 16, 2024, 4:23 pm

Story
Our sweet Abby is just a joy to be around. She came from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. We actually saw her on Facebook when they were begging for someone to get her out of there. She was 24 hours away from being euthanized. There are so very many stray hound dogs and the shelters run out of room so they only stay for so long before they are put to sleep. It's very sad. Abby is the sweetest, most loving girl that you will ever meet. She just loves everybody! She is a full blooded Walker hound, approximately 2 years young. She came with heart worms but we treated her and now she is heart worm free. She is also crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready for her forever home! could that be you? PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $500

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HARRY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU,BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND.Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when he no longer wanted to hunt. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Her foster is very impressed with her and says; 'She is sooooo sweet! Only had 2 accidents in the house and nothing in the crate. She is like a magnet. Likes to be right by your side and is learning to play with toys. Doesn’t really pay mind to my dogs at all she wags her tail but doesn’t try to engage' She represents all that is wonderful about beagles. Because she is a hound, we will require a physical fencing for her to keep her and her nose from following any irrestible scents and to keep her safe. She is interested in everything and is going to make your walks more fun than you can imagine, as she points out all the great stuff along the way that you have been missing without her. A lovely temperament and a desire to keep herself clean are such good qualities. Bringing Honey into your life is a good choice if you like smiling, kisses, and a best friend who wants to be with you. She promises to listen to everything you say and not tell another soul! Story
A 10-month-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, Journee’s name came from the English word for “journey,” or a trip of some kind. This name suits her well because her life so far has been a journey, the destination being a loving forever home. Journee’s foster saw her in the kill shelter, pulled her out, and brought her home and into rescue. She was 5 months old then, about 10 months old now, and in the 5 months since her rescue, she has grown almost to her full size of 55 pounds. Her short coat is tricolor, but mostly white, and her eyes big and brown and hopeful. She loves children, other dogs, and even cats. Being adopted would mean the end of her journey because she would have found you WAITING FOR HER at home. (TN,7/30/24) (REVISED 12/10/23)  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption Fee/Transport Fee: $250.00  We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  May 17, 2024, 4:53 pm

Story
Calling all hound lovers! Gunner is ready to find a family that will love him for life. This 8 month old, 55 lb. treeing walker coonhound has big ears, and an even bigger heart! True to the hound breed, Gunner is a fun-loving pup with lots of playful energy! He already knows several commands, including sit, come, stay and go potty, and is fully house trained. Gunner would do excellent living with another playful pup and could also live happily with kids. He is unsure of cats. He is not a fan of his crate, so will need someone who is willing to build his confidence in making it a space he is more comfortable with. As a typical puppy does, he loves chewing, so free reign while away is not recommended. He is working on his leash training, and enjoys car rides, just no food before you hit the road! Gunner is up to date on vaccines and preventives, neutered, and heartworm negative. If you would like to meet him, please apply at  www.pack9rescue.org  today! New Oxford PA 17350; LIC #9736   We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. Beagle mixCharlie was born December 8, 2021 to a Cocker Spaniel mom and Beagle dad. He is completely crate trained, and working on house training since he has been in his foster mom’s home. Charlie walks great on a leash, but like any typical Beagle, his nose never leaves the ground. He is extremely sweet natured, and plays well with his four legged foster siblings. If given the chance, Charlie will chase cats. Please send us your phone number if you would like to hear more about Charlie. May 16, 2024, 10:06 am
