Story
Squid is a ~2 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix who is a giant love bug. He loves cuddling and will follow you around and spend as much time as he can with you. He doesn't always have a good idea of where his body is and will trip or fall accidentally. He knows all his basic commands, walks well (especially with a gentle leader) and generally does well listening to his owners. We've unfortunately made the tough decision to work to rehome Squid as he no longer gets along with his dog big brother. He also has not had good success with other dogs. He also gets overwhelmed with little kids when they get rowdy. He hasn't bitten any other dogs or humans, but he does growl/bark and snip as a warning. We have worked with him and a behaviorist to improve his behavior, but with things between him and his dog brother going down hill, we no longer think we can give him what he needs to have the best life.

Story
Supporters and Recurring Giving Donors will be put on our VIP Application List &#226&#128&#139 Adoption Costs and other important information. Mandy is an incredibly sweet girl who has some special needs.  She is completely deaf and has some vision impairment.  She LOVES other dogs but tends to get aroused by cats and will chase them but doesn't seem to intend any harm.  She loves to be with her people and has some issues with being contained.  She will go over thru baby gates.  Mandy is a fast learner though and picks up stairs easily.  She needs to learn to be housetrained and doesn't seem to want to go while on a leash.  A high fenced in yard would be ideal for her.  She is playful and energetic.  She does great with all people.  She will need a patient owner who is looking for a rewarding project. If you are interested in adopting from Sterling Animal Shelter, please submit an application through our "Pets for Adoption" page.  We are currently open by appointment only Tuesday through Friday, and have Open Hours on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm.  Our appointments are scheduled by matching our applications to our available pets. If your application is chosen, our staff will contact you to set an appointment for a meet and greet to spend some time with the animal one-on-one. We do still have same day adoptions, and if your meet is successful, you can take your pet home at the time of your appointment.  To find the best match for each pet, we prefer to have the entire family present when doing an adoption. If you have a dog at home already, please be prepared to bring your resident dog to meet a potential new dog, to ensure all parties get along. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. Story
STELLA D'ORO is part of the local litter of 13 puppies (a baker’s dozen!) that we stepped in to help when a MA family had an accidental litter. Just 3 girls + 10 boys! They were born on April 7th. Mom was a little underweight at 35 pounds and Dad is 60 pounds. We anticipate those puppies to mature somewhere in the 40-60 pound range. Rescue Inc took these puppies into our care earlier than anticipated just as they were starting to wean. Their mom, tragically and sadly, sustained injuries that were not survivable. All of her babies transitioned to an amazing nursery foster home where received proper nutrition (formula) as solid foods were introduced. These babies are not just as cute as heckin’, but FUN, silly, and social puppies that are enjoying the company of their brothers and sisters under the watchful eye of their foster mom. On 5/16, these puppies will go into their own foster homes as a trio or pairs until they are available for adoption on June 9th. The rescue has committed to helping this local family with their remaining resident dogs by bringing all of their pups u to date on vetting and providing spay / neuter surgeries to avoid another accidental pregnancy. If you wish to donate to the cause, you can make a donation through our website: www.rescueinc.dog/donate  Should this pup receive an adoption commitment prior to your application being processed, we will share with you the other arriving pups that may be a match for you, some of which are not yet posted online. THIS PUP IS STILL AVAILABLE IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS LISTING––we pull listings down after receiving 2 - 3 viable applications to minimize adopter disappointment. Please do not email, simply submit an application link here www.rescueinc.dog/adopt and we do respond to every application within 48 hours.  Read through our adoption FAQs here www.rescueinc.dog/FAQs and our adoption process is here www.rescueinc.dog/the-process All of our pups come with the following:  spayed or neutered age appropriate vaccinations + dewormed + 4DX test (if older than 6 months) health certificates  dosed with flea and tick + heartworm preventatives new martingale collar (sometimes a harness) with 6' lead + temp ID tag 30-days free insurance to be activated within 24 hours of your wellness visit with your veterinarian microchip with free registration  sample of Canidae food that your pup is eating prior to pick up  WE ISOLATE OUR OWN PUPS in our state licensed facility, which means we have eyes on your puppy or dog for the MA mandated 48 hours. During this timeframe, your pups not only see our isolation vet twice but also receive additional rounds of dewormer along with pre + probiotics; transition to Canidae food; additional behavior assessments as they decompress; and so much love and thoughtfulness from our volunteers. Your pups are bathed at intake and again before pick up. All are paired in kennels with littermates or for those that travel alone, we have a rotation of volunteers to visit with them. We provide enrichment throughout the day and meditation music during nap time and through the overnight. We use these 48 hours to ready your pup to transition into a foster or adoptive home and do all that we can to reduce their stress while they are with us.  Ages listed can be approximate and breed mixes are a best guess based on physical characteristics.   Approved Massachusetts Rescue #0048 // Registered 501c3 EIN #84-3954548  ##2055359##
