Story
Bertha was turned in to a rural Virginia shelter with 2 other hounds. She's 4-5 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. Bertha is sweet and a little timid in new situations. This group of hounds has been through a lot and were urgent rescues from a full shelter. They are currently boarding in Virginia to keep them safe while we arrange foster care and adoptions. She did well with kids and cats when tested at the shelter. We'll have better photos soon - we have videos to share with interested adopters. Arriving in Massachusetts Dec 6th. Charlotte came to us from Virginia. Her caregivers there describe her as engaging, wiggly, and sweet! Charlotte is 10 months old and is about 35 pounds right now. Charlotte likes to lean against legs to get lots of love. She is very adoring. She does need some work with potty and leash training but is treat and praise motivated. She is playful and would be good in most households and with other dogs. Like all puppies she likes to chew and does best with durable toys. Charlotte will arrive in Massachusetts Jan 10th. Meet Whisper! This high-energy hound loves sniffy walks and romping around with her dog friends. She spent some time in a home and showed significant stress transitioning into the new environment, so a quiet space and plenty of patience will be key in setting her up for success. Though she`s initially worried, she will quickly show her true houndy self once comfortable - countertops beware! She`s a curious gal who will require environmental management while she adjusts to life in a home. Whisper will do best with an adopter who`s excited about using positive reinforcement, and has a sense of humor - training means some trial and error, and it`s important to remember that she never learned the rules! She`s doing her best, and your support and love are key in helping her grow her confidence and practice respecting the boundaries of a human-driven space while still engaging in the enthusiastic exploration that drives her. This spirited girl will be a bit of a project, but she`s ready to put in the work if you are!
