Story
This sunning boy is the sweetest pup around and is truly one in a million. Luke is a Catahoula Leopard Dog with a rare `ghost merle` coloration. He loves people and to snuggle and play. He would do best in a home with no cat and no male dogs. In his foster home Luke lives with a small jack russell and does great, he has also done well with female dogs! Think Luke might be the perfect fit for you? Email BARCFoster@houstontx.gov to learn more about him!

Story
Introducing Canela the Cuddle Queen! This medium-sized sweetheart is on a mission to snuggle her way into your heart. With a personality as big as her adorable wagging tail, Canela is all about those warm and fuzzy moments. Whether she's curled up next to you on the couch or entertaining herself with toys, she's always spreading joy with her infectious enthusiasm! And let's talk about her love for food - this girl knows how to appreciate a good meal like nobody's business! But don't worry, she'll work off those extra treats during her daily walks, where she struts her stuff like the queen she is. Plus, with tricks like sit, wait, shake, and leave it down pat, Canela is not just a pretty face - she's a canine prodigy! She played well with a larger male dog but does require proper introductions. Bring home Canela today and get ready for a lifetime of cuddles, adventures, and unconditional love! Canela is a female Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with an estimated date of birth of 04/15/23. She currently weighs 35lbs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Aren't I gorgeous? I am not a good match for active small children - they make me nervous.Kane's my name - fun's my game. I am a sweet boy, a bit shy at first. I am cautious meeting new people, but once I warm up, I am your best friend.  I am crate trained, although I have never had to spend more than 4 hours in a crate during the day. I know sit and walk great on a leash. My mom is a super hugger, and I know if I sit when she opens my crate, I get an extra big hug and love from her. I love to cuddle.  I am famous for my attack hug.  Just when you least expect it! I need the companionship of another dog to bring out my best adorable personality. I am very smart and will learn quickly. I thrive on positive reinforcement and affection.  I love to play with my foster siblings. My favorite game is chasing the water hose. I am up to date with vaccinations, neutered and microchipped so you can't loose me. I am a bit timid with strangers and will take a little time to adjust to my new home, but I promise to be the best dog ever once I know I can trust you.    Small children scare me, so I would like to have older, considerate children in the home. I am looking for a forever family. Is that you?     aarfhouston.org/forms  =========================================================  Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application  Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area. Please call for specific locations.  Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs. In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
We don't know anything about her history but she is estimated to be around 5-7 years old. She's had puppies before but is now spayed. She is a very skittish, anxious dog. Even though she is comfortable around us she still flinches sometimes when we reach down to pet her. She is 100% house-trained and very smart. If she wants something she is very good at letting you know what it is. She is not the most active dog but does enjoy short walks (although cars driving by freaks her out) and playing with her toys. She's also a pretty quiet dog and only barks if someone knocks on your door or if she gets excited while playing. Unfortunately, she is very reactive to other dogs and while she has mostly been okay with my cat while staying with us there was an incident where she bit my cat so she may be better suited for homes with no pets.

Story
Daisy is almost 3-years old. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations. She loves to play tug-o-war. She has been in the house with two small dogs. She seems to love playing with human friends as well as her doggy friends. She loves to be outside, but she will also lay chill on the floor indoors. She loves chewing and will even toss the ball to herself sometimes. She will respond to simple commands like "Sit" "Lay down" "Shake". We have used a wireless fence and she has responded well to it. If desired, we can give you the wireless fence that we have been using.

Story
I am one tall glass of water – handsome and with a great smile. I have lots of energy, so I’d be a great walking partner or jogging buddy. I am friendly but not sure about those fuzzy bundles called cats. If you have a dog, let’s organize a meeting. I can be particular about my roomies. Mostly, I will be a loyal companion and by your side as much as possible.
