Story
Introducing Mama Hope... A mama who has known breeds far more than love. We pulled Hope during our shelter pull, and from the moment we saw her, we knew she deserved a chance. Her kennel sat right beside the small yards where we were temp testing dogs all day. Through all the chaos, all the barking, all the dogs coming and going…Hope never reacted once. She simply watched, wagged her tail, and pressed herself so hard against the kennel gate trying to get closer to people that her sweet little face scrunched up even more. And honestly? We are absolute suckers for mama dogs. Especially the ones the world overlooks. Hope is estimated to only be around 2–3 years old, but her body tells the story of being used over and over again. Sadly, mama dogs like Hope are often passed over because they don’t look “perfect” enough anymore. But to us? Hope is beautiful. She is gentle, loving, and so unbelievably grateful for human kindness. This girl wants nothing more than human touch, soft words, and someone to look at her with love. Even at the vet, through everything she’s been through, her tail never stopped wagging. Hope absolutely adores people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs too. During this shelter pull, we saved quite a few bully breed mixes. They are some of the hardest dogs to find homes for, but we refuse to let that stop us from giving them a chance. We love them, and they deserve to be loved too. Hope still needs a few months to heal before she can be spayed, but what she needs most right now is a foster home full of love. If you’ve been thinking about fostering, please consider this sweet mama. We cover supplies and medical care — you just provide the love. We would love nothing more than for Mama Hope to finally learn what it feels like to truly be someone’s baby.  Visit www.scoutshonor.org to learn more about Hope.September 7, 2026, 12:45 pm

I am one tall glass of water – handsome and with a great smile. I have lots of energy, so I’d be a great walking partner or jogging buddy. I am friendly but not sure about those fuzzy bundles called cats. If you have a dog, let’s organize a meeting. I can be particular about my roomies. Mostly, I will be a loyal companion and by your side as much as possible.

Story
Meet Axel — proof that three legs are more than enough for a whole lot of living. Axel is a 4-year-old, 53-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback/Black Mouth Cur mix with a joyful personality, a big heart, and an impressive talent for cuddling. When Axel was first found, he was badly injured and needed urgent medical care. Ultimately, one of his front legs had to be amputated. But Axel recovered beautifully, adapted quickly, and never seemed interested in letting one missing leg slow him down. Today, Axel is fully healed and busy doing all the normal dog things he loves — running, playing, hanging out with canine friends, and curling up as close to his people as possible. He’s also already got some very important house-dog skills under his belt: Axel is potty trained, crate trained, and dog-friendly. He enjoys the company of other dogs and could be a wonderful fit for a home with a canine companion. But as much as Axel enjoys his dog friends, his people are where his heart really is. He’s affectionate, loving, and happiest when he can be close to the humans he trusts. If you’re looking for a dog who will happily join you for some fun and then settle in for a serious snuggle session, Axel may be exactly what you’ve been looking for. His three legs are certainly part of his story — but they’re nowhere near the most interesting thing about him. Axel is simply a happy, resilient, loving dog who is ready to stop being someone’s rescue story and start being someone’s family. Ready to meet Axel? Apply to adopt him at htxdogrescue.org!

Story
Bailey is a snuggly and spirited pup. She’s about 2 years old and full of energy. She’s playful, but also loves to cozy up and cuddle. We found her on the streets about a year and a half ago with the intention of finding her a new home but have been unsuccessful and now have a new baby so she’s become a bit more than we can handle. We just don’t have the time to give her the loving attention she needs. She’s great with other dogs (we have 2 others) and is also fond of trying to play with our cat (who could care less). We have young children whom she also loves to snuggle with. We’re hoping to find her a home where she can be loved and attended to in a way we aren’t able to.

These pups are in Houston, Texas too!

Story
7 months old Wilson is a quiet and sweet vizsla mix pup, who is currently being fostered in Houston but can travel to any state, even Canada to the right home. Wilson and his brother Tanner found themselves in a high kill shelter of Texas, where they were surrendered by their previous owner. While Wilson did fine on his own with his foster dad, his brother Tanner completely shut down without him, so we brought them back together. They enjoy each other's company but Wilson is very sociable and get along with other pets and humans easily. After being in a home full of other pets, both brothers are now able to stay separately, as their foster parents and foster siblings have boosted their confidence and allowed them to make choices on their own without dependence on the other. Wilson is very easy going, quiet, respectful pup. He is not rambunctious or destructive. He loves to please his humans and listen to directions He is good with cats, dogs and kids. He currently lives with both dogs and cats and respects their spaces. Wilson will prefer a second dog in his new home to play and bond with. Wilson is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained and socialized. They would love to have a fully fenced yard to play with each other and get their exercise. Wilson is about 7 months old, 40 lb, neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. To meet these amazing pups via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com His adoption fee include all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness and leash. Yards, if any, MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
