Story
If you are looking for a cuddle buddy, Atlas is the guy for you. His unique looks and amazingly sweet and inquisitive personality are products of his rich breed mixture. Atlas (also known as "Mr. Steal Your Heart and Pillow") enjoys long walks, short car rides, exploring, cooling off in creeks, lounging around the house, playing tug, unstuffing plush toys, wrestling and playing the bitey face game with his doggy sibling, cuddling in bed, and anything else that allows him to spend time with his family. At almost 3 years old, he has outgrown most undesirable puppy behaviors, but is still an active boy who requires adequate exercise. He does well with children and other dogs. He has done well with cats! He likes to lead walks and can be overly eager to meet new dog friends, so some training in those areas is recommended. He also gets overwhelmed in busy settings and sometimes experiences stranger danger so it is advised to avoid crowded settings unless addressed by a trainer. He is overnight crate trained, but he becomes anxious when left in the crate for extended periods of time during the day so his ideal home would have a pet parent who is home for the greater part of the day. Atlas is learning how to pull carts. He is a very smart dog and seeks to please his owners. Atlas is house/potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. If you would like to meet this handsome guy and make him part of your family, please complete an application at https://forrescue.net/dog-application/

Story
Check out our Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for more pictures & videos of our adoptable dogs!Updated: 12/5/24 Dog Name: Lily Sex: Female Estimated Breed Mix: Catahoula Leopard Dog/Husky Approximate Age: 1 year Approximate Weight: 40 lbs Adoption Fee: $400 Description: Lily was found in a small rural Texas town and then went to a high kill a shelter with her days numbered. Our Texas partners saw her potential and were able to pull her from the shelter for us. Lily is such a good girl! She has loved every human she's met, big to small, older to younger. She's learning quickly with the help of her foster mom! She doesn't love her crate, but she does pretty well in one. She just barks for 5-10 minutes after she's put in it, but then will settle down to sleep through the night. Her fosters just tested leaving her out overnight. She had free reign of the house but just chose to curl up and sleep soundly on the couch. She's getting better at walking on a leash too! We aren't quite to loose leash walking yet, but with her training collar there was only pulling when a squirrel ran past just out of her reach. Her foster mom is not a runner, but ran with her for about a block because she suspected Lily would make a great running buddy if her future adopter is a runner (she does indeed think Lily would make a good running buddy). She's mostly potty-trained. Her fosters learned that she won't vocally ask to be let outside, but she does very well being let outside on a schedule. There was one time so far that she sat at the door and looked at foster mom and that was her way of asking to go outside.  Her foster brothers have done a great job teaching Lily to lay down and relax; she's napping more and more every day. We think she would do wonderfully in a home with another dog who likes to play. She mostly plays with her doggo foster brother that's also about a year old. The 12 and 5 year old doggos will play with her for a bit, but then tell her they're done and she's respectful of that. Keep-away and tug-of-war are their favorite ways to play. Lily is also very good at fetch (she's learning 'drop it'). A typical day for her consists of alternating between mostly napping and playing. When her foster mom works from home, Lily is either sleeping on her feet or nearby or playing with the other dogs. She learned 'sit' and takes treats so gently! We're working on learning 'shake' currently. Lily rarely barks. When she does it's typically at a new person entering the home with her tail wagging excitedly. She's never had an issue jumping up on people, it's just not her style! She rides WONDERFULLY in the car- usually she curls up to sleep, otherwise she's sitting looking out the window. This gorgeous gal is going to make a wonderful addition to a lucky home!  We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are 6 months to 1 year or age. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days.  at one of our preferred clinics. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. December 6, 2024, 12:06 am
