Story
Betty Rizzo is a 1-year-old, 25 lb Cavapoo with the sweetest soul. Heartbreakingly, a terrible human had reportedly tossed this sweet innocent dog out of his vehicle. Suddenly alone, she spent time surviving on the streets of Lynnwood until a good samaritan was finally able to catch her and connect her to Shelter Hope. What’s amazing is that despite everything she’s been through, Betty is still full of love. She never let her difficult start change her gentle, trusting nature. She is affectionate and happiest when she's getting cuddles or spending time with her people. Betty has a medium energy level, gets along well with other dogs, and has an easygoing personality that makes her a joy to be around. Our staff at Shelter Hope absolutely adore her. Now fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Betty is ready for a fresh start with a family who will love her the way she deserves. ---- Looking to Adopt? Story
Simmba has been waiting for his forever home for over a year now at Shelter Hope. Simmba is a 3 y/o and 13 lb Poodle mix who was surrendered the day after Christmas 2024. Before that, he lived only outdoors and received less attention as his family’s children grew older. Despite this, Simmba has a huge heart and blossoms with patience, consistency, and kindness. Simmba loves fetch, squeaky toys, and zooming or rolling through the grass, as well as soaking up the sun on his favorite bench. Indoors, he keeps his lamby toy close, happily offers enthusiastic face kisses, and adores cuddles, belly rubs, and simply being near his people. He also respects boundaries and will retreat to his bed or “sanctuary” when asked. His foster tells us he seems fully potty trained, food-motivated, and already knows the “sit” command. Simmba can be protective and sometimes needs help navigating his big feelings (which is why he’s often called a “project dog”) but he bonds deeply and is incredibly loyal once trust is built. He does have some skin allergies, possibly food-related, and currently wears a cone to prevent licking, though it doesn’t slow down his playful, quirky personality. He does best in a calm, low-chaos environment, where he can grow more confident and relaxed. His foster is actively socializing him with new people and other dogs, and he’s making excellent progress. With his fun-loving nature, Simmba could do well as an only dog or with another small, friendly, playful female dog as a companion. What he truly needs is a home without kids who is willing to give him the time and understanding he’s waited so long for. Simmba has so much love to give. All he’s missing is his forever home 🐾 ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. More on our process: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
Ophelia is a 1.5-year-old Yorkie Poo weighing 17 pounds. She is an affectionate, clever, and loving little dog who loves hard chewy toys, treats, and anything food-related—she is very food motivated and engaging. Ophelia is also incredibly snuggly and people-oriented; once she bonds with you, she loves being close, soaking up attention, and being your constant little companion. She is medium energy, enjoys her daily walks, and is good on leash. Ophelia can be sensitive to loud noises and does best in a calm, predictable environment. She will thrive as the only dog in the home and in a single-woman household where she can feel secure and relaxed. No men, no other dogs—this is when she is happiest and most at ease. She was originally adopted from us 7 months ago but was recently returned due to challenges with people guarding in her previous home. She is now back in our care and looking for a stable, understanding home where she can fully settle and shine. --- Looking to Adopt? Step 1) Apply Online Submit a rescue questionnaire!
