My dog of 13 yrs passed and found myself lonely after retirement. I have to admit that I did not put enough thought into get Daisy. I did her from the breeder of my old dog, wanted and thought that was what I was getting a 10-15 lap dog, not taking into account that this was a PUPPY and needed training. We did the puppy training and she loved it, to help with her energy I got her to doggy daycare twice a week, one week before she was scheduled to get spayed she went into heat!! She is scheduled now for March 11. She is a puppy for sure, lots of energy and wants attention. It breaks my heart to see her go but she desires more than I can give her. Daisy was born 5-22-25, weights 23 lbs.

Miles is a really sweet boy that has a sensitive tummy. We have been on a journey to find out why, and it looks like the cause is likely a chronic issue. To keep his tummy happy is going to take more care than we can give. We got Miles at 7 months old (he is 14 months old now) and immediately loved him - he is so sweet, so cuddly and gentle. After trying to potty train him, we realized something was going on with him and had a vet check him out. The vet ruled out worms, parasites, and nutrient deficiencies. She narrowed down the cause to 3 possibilities (which need further testing to be sure): Addisons disease, a liver shunt, or IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). If it is Addisons, he will need regular meds and lab work. If it is a liver shunt, he will likely need surgery. And if it is IBS, he will need a strict diet and close monitoring. We do not have the budget or bandwidth for this kind of care. We are hoping someone does. He is a precious fellow with a lot of love to give.

Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. He may start out skittish, but once he chooses his person, he becomes a loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to be close. Rigel tends to feel more comfortable around women and can be unsure of men at first, sometimes barking or growling when he’s nervous. With consistency and calm reassurance, he settles and has even been known to curl up next to his foster dad once he feels safe. Now that he’s gaining confidence, Rigel is beginning to show his playful side. He loves small stuffed toys, nightly chew sessions with bully sticks or pig ears, and cuddling on the couch or in bed. He enjoys being out and about as long as his trusted person is right beside him, and he rides quietly in the car. Rigel does best with another dog in the home—preferably one similar in size—who can help him continue learning how to be a confident house dog. He has lived with cats and done well, and he gets along with most dogs, though he avoids pushy or cantankerous personalities. A fenced yard is important for him, as he loves the freedom to explore safely. Potty training is coming along nicely with a schedule, and he knows cues like “outside” and “go potty.” Crates are not his favorite and he takes time to settle, but he does well when riding in one in the car. Rigel is a sweet, intelligent little dog who blossoms with patience. Once he bonds, he is affectionate, cuddly, and devoted. He will thrive in a calm home with considerate older kids or adults, a gentle canine companion, and someone willing to give him the time he needs to trust. With the right family, Rigel will become the loving, loyal companion he’s meant to be.
