Story
Please note that we are a TX based rescue that transports our dogs once they are adopted. ALL our dogs reside in foster homes in TX. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org Gabriella - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! The name Gabriella often is associated with someone that is calm, strong and independent, a homebody and trustworthy. Yep, I'd say that kinda fits me! Note from foster mom: Affectionately dubbed Miss Gabbers, is a shy sweet gal that is looking for her fur-ever home. It will take awhile for her to acclimate and show off her happy side. It took almost a month for her to let me pet her without flinching and another month before I saw her butt wiggles and happy hops! She enjoys long naps and snuggles with other dogs but no human snuggles. Tummy rubs are a favorite once she gets comfortable with you. She very much enjoys her space and doesn't like being picked up or grabbed. She does love destroying Amazon packages and cardboard is her enemy!! Not a chance that any evil boxes will sneak past her. :) Gabriella loves other dogs and is obsessed with my cat. A home with other 4 legged siblings for her to feel comfortable and take her cues from would be most beneficial for her. She is house and crate trained. She loves her crate and with door left open will use it for her naps. Gabriella would do best in a quiet home with her person either retired or that works from home where she can get lots of one on one TLC. With a patient family that will give her the time and space she needs along with some gentle words and kind pets, she will show her true beautiful nature. If you're looking for a low maintenance companion that enjoys her quiet time, she just may be a perfect fit for your family!!

Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Oreo - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Oreo has had his lil world turned upside down. His elderly owner who loved them very much had to move in with family and is not longer able to care for him, his sister Lexie and his buddy, Shorty. Not only did he lose his owner but his home as well. Being the lil trooper he is, he's settled down in his new foster home and is doing remarkably well. It helped he got to stay with his doggie family and is making friends with the other foster pups there. Oreo is around 6 years young and would make a great companion for just about any household. He is at the age where he's just a lot of fun to have around. Some benefits to adopting an older pup - What you see is what you get, no guessing how big they will be or what they will look like grown They are already house and crate trained They are out of the puppy destructive stage, they don't need to be constantly monitored If they are quiet for too long, they're probably taking a snooze Oreo is super affectionate. He loves attention and his little stubby never stops moving! We're not sure how many kiddos he's been around but with his friendly personality should be fine with dog savvy kids. Oreo is house and crate trained making him an excellent addition for a (he's hoping, your) family. Coming in at the top end of the small category at 25lbs he's the perfect size for strolls around the neighborhood, walks to the local coffee shop, trips to town for your errand runs and of course stopping at the park for some play time or just relaxing watching the squirrels. And the best part is he's not so big he'll take up the whole couch for his beloved cuddle time! With his mixed breed hairytage, Oreo will need some regular grooming, but for the most part a good brushing a few times a week with keep him looking like the lil stud muffin he is!! Will you be the family that will right Oreo's world again? You just need to stop scrolling and fill out his adoption application and we'll take it from there!!! Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, I’m Peter a very handsome Miniature Poodle but I must admit that when I first came to live with foster mom, I was in rough shape. I mean seriously, my lovely fur was matted and I was absolutely TERRIFIED! That said, foster mom immediately loved me SO much that she got me all cleaned up and cared for in no time! Now, I feel great about myself and am getting more comfortable with home life. I have not met any cats or kids, and I am still afraid of new things, quick/sudden movements, commotion, and loud noises but I am getting better each day. If foster mom is sitting or lying down, I will approach her for loving pets and cuddles but if she’s moving, I keep my distance and will even bolt if she walks towards me so I will need a securely fenced yard. I know what “outside” and “stop” mean but I am still working on leash & potty training, and I bark when in the kennel/crate. I would love to have a canine companion who will help me feel more comfortable, teach me how to ‘dog’, and help build my confidence. I really am a sweet boy who is simply looking for the patience, unconditional love, and security that I SO richly deserve from my own fur-ever family! I really hope that YOU will be my new family because my heart is overflowing with love that I want to share with someone very special! Love, Peter *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.   ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Story
Hi! I'm Lady Red. I am a breeder release from Missouri. Lady Red (we call her Lucy) came to us shut down and very scared. She has made great progress and now will play with the resident dog and run around the back yard in the grass. She is still trying to trust her humans and is a very sweet girl. She will need a patient household to help her learn about being a dog. I think she would be fine with older kids, younger kids will probably startle her and be too much. I also think another confident dog would be great for her but not necessary. I don't know yet how she does on a leash, she's been too scared to try that. She definitely seems like she has a fun playful side, she will just need some time to get there. She is crate trained and will go in quietly and stays quiet at night and while we are gone.

Story
Hello, my name is Lexi! I'm a 13-year-old, poodle weighing 53 pounds. I love hanging out with my foster family. I am happy to lounge beside them while they work and “help” them do chores around the house. Since I am more mature, I am perfectly behaved when left home alone. I am house trained, have excellent manners, and good with people of all ages and cats and dogs of any size. However, I am not a fan of my crate or closed doors. It is important that I keep an eye on my family. Also, I have a few minor health concerns. I get around well for my age, but have some arthritis like most older dogs. I still jumps, plays, and even chases my foster’s other dog. Plus, I have a few benign fatty tumors. They don’t bother me and don’t affect my health. I am still a very active gal. I love going on walks and playing with toys. Lexi is currently in a foster home and has very thorough vetting from her previous home. Her dad recently passed and her mom is in a home for Alzheimer’s. Her foster has generously offered to sponsor her adoption fee!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.September 21, 2023, 11:44 am

Story
Remember middle school?  Or even (gasp!) junior high?  That feeling of wanting to fit in but not quite knowing how?  Watching every move but wary of the inevitable mistakes that are just part of life .  Please meet our Alli.  Right now she’s just trying to figure it out.   Alli came in as unclaimed stray from a shelter in Dallas, TX. She was kind of a hot mess, matted and undersocialized, looking for someone to help her.  Our rescue partner there saw the diamond in the rough and scooped her up for us.  Her future was to be found in Minnesota.   There’s a lot to know about our Miss Alli, so please read the following carefully.  Her coat will require brushing and grooming so please include that cost in your budget.  She is a beautiful soft white with spots of buff cream.  She is of course spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.  The companion Alli is now is not the one she will be in 3 months, 6 months, or a year from now.  But one thing is for sure, she’s very smart, she just needs a family to teach her and be patient.   At this point in time Alli prefers to hang back and watch for a bit before joining in.  Her foster encourages this so Alli may gain confidence in the fact she is safe and wanted in the home.  And then you’ll start to notice small things.  She likes to have a safe area in every room.  Sometimes it’s an open kennel or a basket, even a corner that catches her eye.  Then you’ll notice she’s added a small blanket, or a few toys to the area, making it her own.  Alli is learning that if things become a bit much for her, by all means take a time out.  Settle in for a nap or just watch what’s happening around the house. She will be given her space while in that area.   When she’s regrouped then she can join back in.  She could thrive as an only dog or with slow introductions she can live with other dogs.  She currently does in her foster home.  Cats are unknown to her.  She also shares a room with an african grey parrot and she enjoys watching his antics and companionship.  Of course both animals are safe during their interactions.   Alli appears to not always understand or “read” dogs and humans correctly.  Her foster feels she just did not have the option to learn these skills in the past and that humans were not always safe.  So she’s playing catch up.  At this point she must be watched closely in her interactions.  Alli is earnest in her intentions to fit in with both dogs and humans.  She prefers dogs approximately her size or smaller.  And puppy antics can make her nervous.  But sometimes mistakes happen.  Because of her learning curve she should not be left unattended or unsupervised with small or elementary aged children at this time.  It’s unknown if this will change in the future.  She also seems to have a wariness with men that her foster is working on with her exposure.  As long as Alli has a place of retreat she seems to be learning how to handle the situation and that no gender is either good or bad.  She needs time.  Unfortunately she has had a bite incident.  She may be a good candidate for safety basket muzzle training.  Because of these concerns, Alli would not be a good option for a new or newer dog owner.  Alli will need to continue with her training to become the best companion she can be.   Alli enjoys and travels well in a car, either by kennel or secured in a harness lounging on a dog bed.  She enjoys being with her family and she really shines in a quieter household.  Alli prefers to use the bathroom outdoors, or in a bind will use puppy pads.  Her foster has a strict rule of dogs eating separately so Alli enjoys meals either in her room or secured in a kennel.  Cheese is a favorite special treat for her and she’s sure the parrot’s food has got to be better than hers.  It appears she must have needed to eat from trash cans quite a bit but is responding well to learning “off” and “leave it”. Her bark can be loud so she would not be a good option if you have shared walls.  Her foster wants you to know that Alli is worth the work.  The first time she locks gazes with you, you’ll understand.  She can be a calm presence and no one is better at cuddling with you when you’re reading or catching up on tv.  She doesn’t take offense if she needs to go to her room while you have high activity going on.  And she is so happy when her door opens and it’s time to rejoin her people.   Thoughts or questions?  Please complete the adoption form to express your interest.  Her foster looks forward to discussing her more with you. https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/40654/generic ##1779454##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! I’m Sheila, I'm 8 years old and done being a mama! I’m enjoying my new life in Minnesota learning to play and looking forward to retiring on a couch, eating treats, playing with my toys, and snuggling up with my people. I’ve been spending my days dancing around my foster home trying out ALL the toys and ALL the beds, sniffing ALL the smells in the backyard, and taking naps both inside and out. Things I’ve learned I love are attention, treats, attention, toys (especially squeaky ones), attention, breakfast and dinner, attention, and sitting in laps. And did I mention attention? Things I’m figuring out is pottying outside (I know to go outside, but usually go inside once a day just because i want to!), which things/plants are ok to chew (hint- phone charger cords are NOT ok), and sometimes other dogs (I want ALL your attention!) I play tug and chase with the right companion but they need to be ok with me being the boss. Things I’m not a fan of are storms and loud noises, strangers, and the super cold weather. I don’t know or care what cats are- boring! I’m poodly smart with a big personality and would love to learn more games and might benefit from working with a trainer to help me learn to share if I end up living with other dogs. I can get a little jealous and bossy!  I will let you know if it sounds like anyone is coming home so living in a place with shared walls won't work for me as all those noises make me anxious and our neighbors won't like me letting them all know!  I will also answer if I hear other dogs calling me, ignoring them would be rude! I don't really like the leash but love to go outside in my fenced in yard to go potty, so I will definitely need a fence!  Zoomies in the yard or chasing my people are enough exercise for me. What I want most in life is to snuggle my BFF and eat treats. Can you be that BFF? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dental, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $350.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 21, 2023, 1:37 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Abner is a breeder release three-year-old mini poodle weighing about 24 pounds. He has handsome golden brown curls with the cutest red highlights. Abner is a sweet boy but may be a bit shy at first. He loves his head and neck scratched and he would let you do that all day long if you're so inclined.  He recently discovered that he loves to take long walks and play in the back yard with the resident dog.  He may miss you when you’re at work, but he will be so excited to see you upon your return.  He is not a fan of crate training, but we've discovered that playing calming music or a show on the TV helps him when the humans can't be in the room with him.  This includes night time when he's most likely to let the humans know with crying and barking that he's unhappy about being locked in the crate.  Abner is on track to being housebroken and being taken outside frequently helps curb accidents in the house.  Car rides are a breeze though he may be a bit hesitant to get in the car. Once inside the car, he is very well behaved and quietly watches out the windows.  He does very well with cats and other dogs, but hasn’t had much exposure to children. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting.  If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!       DOB: 10/25/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes, another well-balanced dog is required Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown, likely afraid of kids Weight: 8 pounds and growing Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, required Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi, my name is Leon and I am a very shy and timid puppy that is ready to find my forever people with patience, toys and lots of love to help me be the best I can be! I’m very afraid of being touched by humans but I do love them.  I’ve been brave enough to lick my foster mom’s hand but I’ll run away if you try to hold me or pick me up.  With time, lots of patience and love, I’ll get there.  I’m getting a little better every day but when things are scary, they’re really scary! You have to understand that I likely have never been in a loving home so sounds like the TV, clanking dishes, the horrible vacuum and lots of commotion might make me a little worried. I have shown foster mom that I do have some puppy antics in me, hee hee! I like to play with soft toys, run around the yard and wrestle with the other dogs in my foster home. So, it’ll be important that I have a good doggy role model in my forever home to help me learn that touch isn’t scary and keep learning. A social, well-balanced and confident dog is required. This means that my buddy will need to show me humans are safe, how to get on a potty routine and teach me which toys are the best! My fur-brother and the other dogs in my foster home have been amazing teachers! I am still working on my dog skills like potty training. We go outside on a routine, but I will still need of practice in my forever home. Foster mom wants to let you know that I am smart – I already know what “go potty” means! We tried kennel training, and oh boy, I will tell you how much I don’t like it! Bark bark! Foster mom uses gates for the dogs when she isn’t home. I also bark at her when she comes home – maybe I’m telling you I’m glad you’re home, or maybe I’m filling you in on what happened when you were away!  Also, a fenced yard is required as I don’t have a leash or tie-out experience. This is very important for potty training too. My foster mom said I’m fun, adorable, learns quickly and likes to play with other dogs and that I play hard!  Oh and that I have a wonderful appetite! I will let you know with a bark bark that I am excited for dinner! I’m just an overall, very happy dog who loves the feel of the sun on my face when I’m sitting outside, other dogs and treats.  All I need now is a forever home with lots of patience, unconditional love and a family that will help me be the best I can be! Foster mom says that with time I will learn to trust – we are taking baby steps. Will you take those baby steps with me? *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society.   Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.   FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.   NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.   YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Hi, my name is Corbin and I am a very shy and timid puppy that is ready to find my forever people with patience, toys and lots of love to help me be the best I can be!
