Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Gary Numan is a really lucky dog- and we feel lucky to have him! Gary was hit by a car and brought to us via the emergency vet who lovingly cared for him. He is remarkably unscathed beyond a cheek fracture- but he is timid and shy, which we're not sure is his personality or some traumatic brain injury. The good thing is through all of this, his MO has been flight, not fight. Even scared and painful, he's not exhibited one iota of aggression toward people or dogs. He has been curious and inviting with dogs- as well as people, although slightly more shut down. As you can see from his picture though, he is truly starting to show us who he is! The light in his eyes is returning and he seems to be lightening up from his stupor- and we expect him to continue to show us amazing things. We estimate him to be about a year (he has adult teeth) and best we can tell he's pure bred. He is also crate/ kennel trained and housetrained! This boy was treated well at one point...but he is still in need of a loving home to call his own. Gary still needs to spend some time in our care, but he's available for a foster to adopt scenario, where a potential adopter can foster him until the time is right (namely, his neuter). Throughout the next couple of weeks, we will all get to know him and can find out more about what he needs- which will hopefully be the home he lands in! Foster to adopt is fostering until the adoption can happen. We cover the vet bills and expenses- you simply provide the loving care, support and transportation to the vet. You can get to know your future best friend, while still under the "umbrella" of our care and support! Gary has had enough of "Cars" (when he's not riding), but he will jump into yours if you're the right fit!
