Story
NAME: Ryan Reynolds AGE/GENDER: born 7/29/2020), Male BREED: Labrador Retriever and Australian Shepherd ADOPTION DONATION: $550 TEMPERAMENT: Playful and mischievous WEIGHT:  50ish lbs HOUSE TRAINING: Still has accidents if you're not proactive. Due to his special needs, he is slightly mentally delayed so he will need a consistent schedule with multiple opportunities daily to go outside while he works on it. He is developmentally delayed and taking a bit longer to potty train. CRATE TRAINING: Good He sleeps in  his crate and is crated when not supervised. He also eats in his crate and expects you to feed him promptly once he's in his crate. OTHER DOGS: Good. Ryan does well with dogs he knows but can sometimes get overwhelmed and sensitive, so needs to be monitored and calmed before he gets overloaded. No small dogs, as he cannot differentiate his play style with large dogs versus small. CATS: He's a bit of a cat chaser. Continued socialization will be important. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 12 and older   HEALTH: Ryan Reynolds does have some developmental delays due to early trauma (see history below). He has some lasting physical effects as well as mental effects, but he is a mobile guy. He has some depth perception issues. He is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Puppies are given vaccination boosters in our care; however, adoptive families will be responsible for the remaining vaccinations that puppies need. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. HISTORY: Ryan Reynolds came to us after his mother attacked him and his litter mates. Thankfully Ryan Reynolds survived, but not without physical injury and subsequent developmental delays, similar to shaken baby syndrome. Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find him a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do! NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Ryan Reynolds is developmentally delayed and has some fear issues. He LOVES his schedule and has a hard time adjusting to new things but he will adjust. He does, however, have brain trauma so will be different than your average dog. He is loving and affectionate in his own way, but he cannot be cuddled as he can be sensitive to touch. However, he is starting to hit you with his paw for attention and does love to be pet. He knows his name and he knows simple commands such as sit. He loves food and while he may not get the cues, commands, tricks you're asking of him, it's not for lack of effort. He should wear a sign that says Will Work For Food. He will even eat his veggies! The more you work with him, the more he will get but will be a little bit slower on the pickup. Neuro puppies tend to be hypersensitive so they tend to over exaggerate things/emotions. So fear can be intensified and distressed when his schedule changes. For example he loves to ride in the car but he has to be in a crate and when he exits the crate he will not jump out straight out when the door is opened, but rather has to walk cross to his "spot" to jump down. He really loves eating from puzzle feeders, like Kong wobblers and the like. It's great fun for him. Want to entertain him without much effort? Throw a Kong wobbler at him and you'll hear him knocking that thing around all over the place. He is very loving but not very cuddly and will give kisses (but may not always hit the mark). Lack of depth perception, so he may lick your nose one time, your ear at another time, and your eye the next. He is getting used to being held and hugged but can panic at being restrained (hugged) for too long. He loves to walk but may not always in a straight line. He is a wonderful silly and sweet little boy with just some little quirks. He has a permanent head tilt so will always look at you, like he's very curious and interested in what you have to say, hanging onto your every word (which he may just be feigning interest very well).   All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.   ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO   Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. Story
Some requirements: needs another large dog in the home and someone with experience with shy, large breed dogs.    NAME: Amy Santiago LITTER: Amy Santiago is part of the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" litter. AGE/GENDER: Estimated 7.20.20, Female BREED: Labrador Retriever mix TEMPERAMENT: Shy, nervous, sweet, playful with other dogs WEIGHT: 60ish pounds HOUSE TRAINING: Good! CRATE TRAINING: She is crate trained. OTHER DOGS: Good! She requires another dog in the home for her emotional well- being. She can tend to be dominant with other dogs, so an easygoing/ noncompetetive male would be the best match for her. CATS: Probably not. CHILDREN: Best in a home without children due to her shyness and lack of socialization. ADOPTION DONATION: $550.00 HEALTH: Amy Santiago is healthy! She is spayed, microchipped, flea treated, vaccinated, and dewormed. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs. HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find her a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do! NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME:    Amy came to us as a young dog. She was part of an unwanted litter and raised in a country setting with her brother and sister, so did not initially meet many people and hasn't seen much of the world beyond that one property. As a result she's struggled with her shyness and socialization.    This can be fixed and Amy can grow into a more confident dog, but she requires assistance both from another dog and from a patient person. The dog in your home should be friendly and outgoing so they can help show Amy the world is not a scary place. Amy loves to play with other dogs and learns to trust and love her people in time, with baby steps. She is not aggressive as she will tend to flee when confronted, but if not given that space/ opportunity, she could panic.   Amy Santiago is a very sweet girl who bonds to her immediate circle of people; however, she will continue to be wary of strangers and it will be an ongoing process of socialization for her to overcome. She is a bit more leery of men than women, so she may avoid men while bonding with the females in the home. It will be important, however, to counterbalance that with specific efforts on any male's part.   She is initially fearful and uncertain in new environments, so is not really the type to be out and about with you at breweries, dog parks, etc. She does need walks in the neighborhood to increase her confidence and when she's ready and truly trusts you, you can slowly tackle new environments.   In her comfort zone, she is silly and sweet and has a lot of potential with the right, patient family and you will see all the great things we do. Adopting her may require a couple of meetings to become oriented with her so she understands and expects what is coming next...hopefully, moving into your home as a new furry friend for you and your dog!   All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.   Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. NAME: Cash (The Man in Black)   AGE/GENDER: 3yrs, Male (DOB known exactly)   BREED: Lab, Husky, Shepherd (DNA tested)   TEMPERAMENT: Sensitive, loyal, creature of habit   WEIGHT: 75   HOUSE TRAINING: Excellent!   CRATE TRAINING: Excellent!   OTHER DOGS: Good- he loves other dogs, especially his size.   CATS: Good- but doesn't always know his size, so best without.   CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older.    ADOPTION DONATION: $475    HEALTH: Cash is neutered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines.   Your adoption donation goes toward offsetting the cost of this vet care as well as other incidental costs of care.    HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find Cash a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do!   NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Cash is an extremely special dog. With one look into his eyes, everyone is hooked!   Since he was young, he's always acted like a much older dog in a young dog body. Even as a puppy he never acted like one- but he does love to turn that silliness on when he gets the chance.   Cash loves zoomies and playing with his friends. His best friends are playful but easygoing dogs- and he has a lot of girlfriends! He likes to play hard, but not out of control, and this is often short-lived- so he will often just go lay down on his own to chill. Even just hanging out with the pack is fun, but he would do well in a home alone too.   He doesn't always know his own size but he doesn't have a prey drive though, as he will sniff noses with squirrels! He's just not always careful or aware of the smaller dogs and cats sometimes.    Despite loving dogs in general, Cash isn't a dog park dog though as this is too chaotic and ever-changing, when he's a creature of habit. He likes his routine, the friends he knows, and for things to be predictable. He really loves going in the car. The first time he will lay there panting, but the next time you take him to that same place, he's excited because he remembers and thinks it's the best thing ever. He loves walks too and does very well on leash but he doesn't need excessive amounts of exercise so regular walks are fine and enough for him.    On that note, he is exceptionally well-trained. He will go into his crate on his own and lay down quietly all night- and he will even wait until you tell him to eat, or come out. He knows to wait at doors and one of his best skills is that when he sees the dinner plates come out, will put himself in "place" and wait until released- no begging!    It took him 6 months (and a lot of trying) to even get him to sit on the couch with his people, so if you don't want him there, he will respect that- but if you invite him then he will be happy to snuggle. His default is to sit when meeting people (and will even down while waiting)- but once he's your friend and really loves you, he might just surprise you with a bear hug! It is endearing and sweet, even though in general, he doesn't jump.   He loves people, though can be a tad shy initially. He will bark when people come to the door, but he calms quickly with a "thank you", which is his cue that you are managing the situation and he doesn't need to worry. If the person comes in, he will adorably run and get his toy to show them as he lets out a Chewbacca-like yodel of enthusiasm.   If he is apprehensive, then just ignoring him for a few minutes is best and he will go to the new person for attention quickly- he just needs to adjust on his terms without pressure. He will just shut down or avoid- so he needs someone that is able to advocate for him and be his wingman.   You will be amazed at Cash's sensitive, deep, sweet personality and his well-mannered demeanor. He is a true gem and would make a great pal for many!        All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and Martingale collar (or a harness, if necessary), depending on each dog's particular needs. Each dog also receives a "Tour Gear Bag" full of brochures, coupons, and supplies for your new pup!   ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO: Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue! We are a rock and roll themed, volunteer-run, foster based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. Motley Zoo is a FOSTER BASED organization, which means our rescue animals are cared for in private foster homes (or partnering pet stores) where the animals receive one-on-one care and attention in a home environment until permanent placement is found. We do not have animals available for casual viewing and same day adoption. Due to the volunteer run structure and decentralized/ virtual  nature of a foster based group, an approved application is required to make an adoption appointment for any of our animals. If you are interested in one of our Adoptable Roadies, please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application (the auto-responder also has a link to our application). We will work toward getting you approved as an adopter so that we can set a time for you to meet your new best friend! Motley Zoo also runs "Rock Star Treatment Dog Daycare" in Redmond, WA where proceeds from this service, help support our rescue's vet budget- however, this is NOT a shelter. For more information about daycare or training, check out www.rockstartreatment.org. Please visit our website www.motleyzoo.org for more information! Thanks for considering adoption- we look forward to helping you find your best match in a furry friend. Rock on- The Motley Zoo Crew June 6, 2023, 11:42 pm

Story
NAME: Evan Peters AGE/GENDER: 6 month old, male BREED: Lab/Pit mix (maybe, we don't really know) TEMPERAMENT: Sweet and friendly HOUSE TRAINING: He is doing well when taken out on a regular schedule. He is a baby so he'll need a consistent schedule with multiple opportunities daily to go outside while he works on it. Puppies should not be considered reliable in regard to housetraining until 6-12 months of age. They're a lot like toddlers, who require diapers! CRATE TRAINING: Good, he's young and trainable! OTHER DOGS: Good! He will need continued socialization, like all puppies! CATS: Good! Continued socialization will be important! CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older ADOPTION DONATION: $600.00    HEALTH: Evan came to us in rough shape. He was severely underweight from starvation and had a broken left front leg with puncture wounds. Fortunately, while with us, his leg healed and did not require amputation! Dogs with broken bones will have arthritis in that area as they age, so they should be on a joint diet now that includes omega oils as well as glucosamine/chondroitin. Prior to adoption, puppies will be altered, microchipped, flea treated, and dewormed. Puppies are given vaccination boosters in our care; however, adoptive families will be responsible for the remaining vaccinations that puppies need. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as transportation and general care costs.  HISTORY: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue was asked to find him a great forever family and that is exactly what we plan to do! NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Evan is a puppy so he's playful and has a lot of puppy energy! He is super cute and fun, but a lot of work. His forever family should be committed to lots of training - obedience, housetraining, and socialization. This will ensure that he grows into a confident, well behaved adult! Puppies' personalities are dependent on their environment, and the structure and training they are given, in addition to socialization. Their personalities continue to grow and be shaped by their new adoptive families. Puppy daycare and socialization classes or puppy kindergarten are highly recommended for their personal development. He will more than reward you for all your hard work with lots of love, loyalty, and laughs.   Evan is a loving boy who is learning manners. He greets all things exuberantly. People. Dogs. Everything. He loves to nibble on you when he's happy, almost like reciprocating pets. He is a sensitive little guy and does not always understand why other dogs may not like his over-enthusiastic greetings. He is learning not to jump and settle. While he is a little bit of a wild and crazy guy, he DOES snuggle. A lap is an invitation for him to crawl in. He loves to be with you and will actually lie next to you quietly while you work or watch TV... once he gets his zoomies out. Despite his rough beginning, this boy is full of love and happiness. Every day is a new day for him and he looks forward to it with arms wide open. He ready to seize the day and see what adventures await him. If you're looking for someone who is seriously optimistic, he's that kind of dog!    All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and either a Martingale collar or a harness, depending on each dog's particular needs.   Welcome to Motley Zoo Animal Rescue. Story
Apollo is a wonderful 3 year old golden Labrador! He is happy, loving, and full of energy. We have struggled with this decision to rehome Apollo, but he has too much energy for the limited amount of time we have to spend with him. He like to jump when he gets excited and with our newborn baby we are just to scared for her to get hurt when he runs into us. For her, we need to find a new home for Apollo. Apollo will play fetch all day if your arm can last as long as he does. Tennis balls are his favorite, but anything will do. He loves to be chased, to chase, and seek for toys or treats you have hidden. He will thank you every time you give him his meal with a kiss on the cheek. He is friends with everyone, as long as they aren't on the other side of a gate or door. He loves a little too well, as sometimes he doesn't know his own strength. Please let us know if you have any questions. We are always happy to answer.
