Story
Noah & Rosie are a bonded mother-son pair of Chihuahua mixes who must be adopted together. Noah is 3 (gray/white), and Rosie is estimated 6–9 (brown/white). Rosie was rescued from the streets 3 years ago after giving birth to 6 puppies; I adopted her and Noah and found homes for the other 5. Both are goofy, affectionate, high-energy cuddle bugs who LOVE fetch, toys, treats, and naps. Their favorite activity is playing fetch together in a park or backyard. Noah is initially fearful and may bark, but once comfortable he is incredibly loving. He is very afraid of cars and large buildings, so he needs open/natural spaces. He can be reactive but does not bite. Rosie loves walks and has made huge progress with training, though she can be reactive and wears a prong collar. They do well in daycare w/other dogs but aren't ideal for dog parks due to possessiveness of their person. They need someone home most of the time due to separation anxiety. Both are big barkers with BIG personalities!

Story
Chiquita is a 13-year-old Chihuahua who came to us from a hoarding situation involving 18 dogs in Palmdale, California. After spending much of her life in an overcrowded environment, she is now discovering a world that is much bigger—and much kinder—than she ever knew. Like many dogs from hoarding situations, Chiquita can be nervous when faced with new experiences. But what has stood out most about her is her bravery. Rather than staying hidden away, Chiquita has shown a willingness to step forward and introduce herself to the people who have been helping her. She seems to understand that the humans around her are trying to earn her trust, and she has been open to giving them a chance. Chiquita is also wonderfully curious. While she may approach new things with caution, she wants to see and experience them for herself. Whether it’s exploring a new space, investigating unfamiliar sounds, or checking in on what everyone else is doing, her curiosity often helps her overcome her uncertainty. Because of her past, there are still many things Chiquita is learning about life in a loving home. She will benefit from a patient adopter who can continue building her confidence and helping her navigate the world at a pace that feels comfortable for her. The good news is that Chiquita seems eager to keep making progress. After everything she’s been through, Chiquita deserves a family that will celebrate her courage, nurture her curiosity, and give her the love she’s always deserved. In return, you’ll gain a sweet companion who is proving every day that it’s never too late for a fresh start. Chiquita is ready to begin her next chapter—could it be with you?

Story
Blanca is an 8-year-old Chihuahua who came to us from a hoarding situation involving 18 dogs in Palmdale, California. Having spent much of her life in an overcrowded environment, Blanca is now learning what it means to be safe, cared for, and loved as an individual. As we continue to get to know her, Blanca has shown herself to be a sweet, gentle, and mellow little companion. She enjoys the simple things in life—a comfortable place to rest, a predictable routine, and the reassurance that she’s finally in a loving home. Like many dogs from hoarding situations, Blanca was never given the opportunity to learn many of the basic skills and experiences that most dogs take for granted. She will benefit from a patient adopter who can help her continue building confidence and discovering the world at her own pace. While she shares the same calm and affectionate nature as many of the dogs rescued alongside her, Blanca has also started to reveal a protective side. She’s incredibly observant and likes to keep an eye on her people, especially when visitors arrive. It’s her own special way of looking out for those she loves. After everything she’s been through, Blanca is ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish her for the wonderful little dog she is. In return, she’ll offer quiet companionship, unwavering loyalty, and a heart full of gratitude. Blanca is ready to spend her golden years surrounded by the love she has always deserved—could that be with you?

Story
Flo is a 10-year-old Terrier who came to us from a hoarding situation involving 18 dogs in Palmdale, California. After spending years in an environment where she received little individual attention and had very limited exposure to the world around her, Flo is now facing a whole new life—and it’s a lot for her to take in. Right now, Flo is still learning that people can be kind, that homes can be safe, and that she no longer has to worry about where her next meal or resting place will come from. She is understandably cautious, uncertain, and still trying to figure out who she can trust. While some of the other dogs from her rescue group have settled in more quickly, Flo is taking a little longer to find her footing, and that’s perfectly okay. What Flo needs most is a patient adopter who will let her move at her own pace. She isn’t looking for someone to rush her progress—she’s looking for someone willing to celebrate the small victories, whether that’s accepting a gentle touch, choosing to sit nearby, or simply feeling comfortable enough to relax. Despite her fears, we believe there is a wonderful dog waiting to emerge as Flo continues to gain confidence. Every day, she takes small steps toward trusting the people around her, and those glimpses remind us that she is trying her best to understand this new world. After everything she’s been through, Flo deserves a family that will offer her the time, compassion, and reassurance she’s never truly had. With patience and love, we have no doubt that Flo will discover that she is finally safe—and that the best chapter of her life is still ahead of her. Could you be the one to help her write it?

Story
Hi, I’m Calyx! I’m a young Terrier/Chihuahua mix (born 06/08/2025), weighing in at a perfect little 10 pounds — just the right size for snuggles, adventures, and being carried around like the royalty I clearly am. I look a lot like the terrier side of my family, complete with the cutest scruffy face that gives me maximum personality points. I’m playful, affectionate, and full of charm. I love toys, sunbathing, splashing in the water, and playing with other dogs. I also adore being picked up and getting all the pets — I’m happiest when I’m close to my people. And don’t let my size fool you… I can keep up with the big dogs just fine. I’m already spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. I’m ready to go! More than anything, I’m dreaming of the day I finally meet my forever family — maybe that’s you. If you’re interested in meeting or adopting Calyx, please visit www.LOLR.org and fill out an adoption application. ##2425539##

Story
Please welcome Sakura!  Sakura is a pretty little tan and white Chihuahua mix girl who is 4 years old and weighs approximately 11 pounds.  She was rescued from a very high kill shelter in Fall 2023 along with her 3 tiny babies.  She was an amazing mama to her three little ones and has been patiently waiting to find her perfect forever home!  Sakura is very sweet, affectionate, smart and loves to play with her puppies and toys.  She loves to run and play with her pack and is always ready to snuggle after playtime is over.  Sakura is leash trained and is working on her potty-training skills.  She will do great with another well-adjusted family dog that she can run and play with!  Sakura loves all people, dogs and is great with children over the age of 10, she has not been exposed to cats.  Her perfect forever home will be with an individual or family who has time to spend playing with her and taking her on regular walks.  Sakura has been spayed, is up to date on her vaccinations and has been dewormed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting or adopting this sweet, playful girl, please go to www.lolr.org to fill out an adoption application. ##1799591##
