Penny came to us after her owner passed away. After spending her whole life with her mom, we could tell she was a bit sad and anxious to start over in a new environment. But, Penny found comfort in people and quickly attached to her foster mom (she especially loves women). She likes to give lots of kisses, snuggle, sit in a lap or lay on the backrest of the couch, and she enjoys sleeping in bed with her person. She can be home alone, but she would like someone who is home often or can bring her along when going out. She does great in the car! She's a little insecure right now so she likes to stay near her person to make sure she won't lose them again, but we are confident that she will relax once she is in a home for awhile and knows you aren't going to leave her! When she gets comfortable, she will leave your side and enjoys being active. She likes to play, chase lizards and will hop in the air after moths and flies. She would enjoy going for hikes, walks through the neighborhood or hanging out at a coffee shop. Penny has gotten along with everyone she has met so far, but we have not had her around children yet. Based on her temperament, we think she would do best with older or no kids. She does well with other dogs, but isn't a fan of cats. She definitely prefers people over anyone and would be fine as the only pet. Penny is a 12lb, 6 year old (but acts much younger) Chihuahua. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. She is in great shape and healthy. She can be picky with her food, but is still a good weight. Penny dislikes being in a crate and will break out if put in one, but she does alright being left to roam in the house. She whines a bit right after you leave, but then just curls up on the couch until you get back. She is housebroken and not destructive. She only had 2 pups and came to us pregnant so we are guessing the breeds but the puppies have longer hair and squarer faces than the long faces and short hair of a chihuahua. Since they were born with us they have been lovingly raised and have been hand held since they were 3 weeks. They are very sweet and come running whenever their foster parents are around. Gracie came to us after almost losing her life at our vet office for no medically sound reason. Her owner just couldn’t have her around anymore. Luckily our vet gave us a call and asked if we could take her as putting her to sleep was the last thing she needed! Aside from some allergies that are being treated with medications, this girl has a clean bill of health. At 9 years old, her attitude and spunk makes it clear she has a lot of life to live and love to give! Gracie is a dream. She is independent and can happily be by herself but takes any chance she gets to be by your side. She does great on walks with minimal pulling, does wonderful in the car (just sleeps on her bed), and enjoys being around other dogs (although is happy without them as well). She’s a happy girl who is always smiling and wagging her tail so fast you’d think she could fly. Sleeps through the night, potty trained, treat motivated, and a cuddle queen. Gracie seems very comfortable with a crate as well. Come meet this special little love! $100 adoption fee/fee waived for seniors (65+) adopting senior pets (8+)

This is the most special little dog. She was living in a homeless camp in LA. She came staggering out to the street covered in fleas and filth. One of our humane workers picked her up. She is now feeling much better, clean, and eating nutritious food. We have named her Trixie May. She looks to be a Papillon - Pomeranian - Chihuahua mix. She is 10 years old. She loves to be held and gets so excited when we talk to her. Trixie May is a treasure.
