ABOUT CASSIDY - FOSTER OR ADOPT OPPORTUNITY A small Chihuahua mix was thrown over a high fence and abandoned. This may sound very cruel and inhumane, but the story gets worse: the poor little dog is missing a paw and could have been further injured by the fall. The AALOC team found him terrified, cowering in fear. He was cold and scared and didn’t trust anyone. In addition, it was reported an individual saw Cassidy living on the streets with a homeless person before being abandoned. We don’t know the extent of Cassidy’s past, but we do know this life must have been very difficult for a small dog like Cassidy. Over time, members of the AALOC staff have been able to convince Cassidy humans can be trusted and Cassidy has become loving and affectionate with these specific individuals, but it will take a special, very patient person to win Cassidy’s love and trust as his new owner or foster parent. For this reason, we recommend Cassidy be adopted or fostered by an adult-only family. Cassidy’s missing paw doesn’t seem to impair his mobility at all. A veterinarian orthopedic surgeon examined Cassidy’s foot and could not determine if the injury was congenital or caused by trauma, and his medical recommendation was Cassidy does not need any treatment or surgery, and can live his life without restrictions As a foster parent, all costs, including all medical costs, for Cassidy would be paid for by AALOC. All you need to do is love and care for Cassidy. Please apply to foster or adopt Cassidy at www.AALOC.org. Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Cassidy and get to know him a bit. Adoption donation includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, and a microchip. Applications require a veterinary reference and home visit. We adopt to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas. Please note: For families with children, we require children to be 10 years of age or older, although exceptions are made depending on the circumstances. We found him in the street in front of our house while I was talking to someone he came up to me and sat next to me. I thought it was the neighbors dog and called my neighbor but he said it wasn’t his. We brought him like we do with other lost dogs in the neighborhood and posted him on the neighbor app but nobody claimed him for days. We took him to the vet and he has no chip. Got all his shots up to date and groomed and he’s been staying with us for now but we already have 3 other dogs and would like to find a good home for him. He’s young and likes to play and cuddle. He’s very good with my 3 year old son.

Story
Buddy is a sweet little 8-9 pound young guy who has been decompressing in his foster home for over a year now. He requires the humans in his life to have patience with him. If you are looking for an instant dog, just add water, this isn't the dog for you. He must have had a terrifying start to life, he spent a lot of the first few months with us hiding when possible. Buddy will make a great dog for a human or family who takes the time to let him be himself and learn to trust them. He does well in small dog playgroups, and would likely come around much faster with another calm dog in his adoptive home that can show him the ropes, so that is an ideal situation for him. Buddy will not be placed in a home without another well-socialized, friendly dog.He will also need a secure yard and entries and exits to the home. Like Fort Knox secure. His hobby in his past life was to escape, which in the last case was to his benefit since he escaped the shelter and we took him into our rescue. Buddy is very treat motivated, which is helpful since he isn't totally sure of us big people... but food is the magic that makes him forget he is scared. Buddy is a work in progress, but aren't we all? Buddy is crate trained and very quiet inside the house. Outside he will alert bark that is all. At this time we would suggest a no child home for him, as he does scare easily. This could change in time, but for now he prefers a calm environment. He has not been cat tested. Don't let our honesty scare you. The best dogs are often these little tough cases where you have to actually earn their love and loyalty.   Buddy's ideal home:  -Secure fencing and exist-Patient and calm family-No kids-Another well rounded dog buddy to hang out with-Buddy is way more likely to initially bond with a female human than a male human.  If you are interested in Buddy, Please fill out OUR adoption application, we do not accept Adopt-a-Pet applications.
