Story
Bubbles is a 11 year old, 14 pound Chihuahua mix. Bubbles is an older chi who loves taking walks and taking naps on her fluffy bed. She is house trained, crate trained, and doesn’t mind other dogs as long as she gets her walks and pets. While Bubbles is low energy, she still likes to get out to the play yard and to walk a few times a day. She will go and jump near the door when she is ready. She is a pro at walking on a leash.  Bubbles has overcome some hurdles in the past, but seems to be well adjusted and ready for her forever home. She would probably do best in a mature home with teenagers or adults. She connects to females easier than men.  Bubbles prefers slow movements while you are working on her trust. She can be food reactive and should be fed separately from other dogs. Please consider opening your heart to love this precious deserving senior lady. She has also had a low grade cancer mass removed, there is a slim chance of it returning.  This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. We are only able to respond to questions once a completed application is received https://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. We do not respond to questions about our dogs sent through email or social media. Excellent vet references and a virtual home visit required. Your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We transport by land or air whenever possible. Unless there is definitive documentation our breed and age assessments are based on visual appearances.    April 24, 2024, 3:55 pm

Story
Kong is a 2 year old 13 pound chihuahua mix. Sweet Kong is the sweetest little pup who had a rough start in life. He was abandoned with a broken foot when he was a young puppy. Since then his foot has healed ( we have his medical records) and he has no side-effects. He is as playful and sprightly as a puppy and in fact he would do best with a secure fenced yard to romp in. Kong is nervous meeting new people until he feels safe. His foster writes, "Kong takes a while to trust -he scampers around the new person but is not at all aggressive, just scared. He is learning to play and loves to be with other dogs. When he passes them on the street on walks he smiles." Kong is largely housetrained, is well mannered inside, and needs some leash training. His foster writes, "Kong loves all dogs and loves to play! He runs around the yard and has the best time with anyone who will play with him. He does best with a harness on walks to avoid his getting out of his collar. He takes his time and needs you to take yours gaining his trust. " This dog is available and everything we know about this dog is included in the dog’s description. Story
Cooper is a chihuahua mix that is 1 years old,  weighs about 17 pounds Cooper is an energetic and loving dog who takes time to warm up to people. He warms up quicker with women and needs people to be patient with him so he can trust them. We think he may have been abused in the past. He would be OK as an only dog so long as he has plenty of opportunities to run and play. A fenced yard is preferred. Cooper seems to do better with dogs his size or larger (he has too much energy and playfulness for most smaller dogs). He also loves to have time to be a couch potato and loves to cuddle and get pets! His coat is so incredibly soft! Cooper would love a patient person or family to give him the love and time he needs. He bonds deeply with his human and will be your shadow in no time! He walks great on a leash, is house trained, and can be left alone in the home. He does not like to be crated and does show signs of separation anxiety if left alone too long. Cooper is the perfect combination of love and playfulness and truly is the perfect companion! We call him Super Cooper because he has made such great progress learning to trust and live his best dog life!  If you are interested in adopting Cooper, please fill out an adoption application online at www.crisisdogsnc.org. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. To ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Story
Jett is a 1 year old, 11 pound, chihuahua/terrier mix. Jet is a delightful young boy with typical puppy energy!  He absolutely loves his toys and running around the yard !  He has tons of energy so he's ready for big adventures!   Jett would do fabulous with an active family.  He's a little guy who enjoys the company of other dogs and people alike.  Sometimes he gets a little carried away with his foster siblings, but he takes the hint quite well after being put in his place!  He holds no grudges!  On the flip side, he loves to cuddle on the couch for a good Friday night movie and he sleeps very well!  He is almost 100% housetrained and is working hard on leash training and is doing well.  He was born w/ small malformed eyes, but he is able to see.  There is no treatment, however, his eyes will need to be monitored by a vet regularly.  He doesn't let it slow him down! If you think Jet would be a good fit for your family and would like more information, please apply online at Dog Adoption Application - CrisisDogsNC to be considered. Story
Bambi is 2 years old, 17 lbs., Chihuahua mix. Bambi had a challenging start to life. For this reason, we are suggesting Bambi be in a home with kids ten and over. Her past was not great, which we believe contributes to her preference for women over men. Initially, Bambi may look shy and skittish, but once she becomes comfortable, she will follow you wherever you go! She is improving significantly each day, making amazing progress at home. True to her Chihuahua mix breed, she adores cuddling, sleeping under the covers, and burrowing- always making sure she is in contact with you! She loves to give kisses as well, and lets you know when she wants more pets with her paw! Bambi is sociable with both dogs and cats and can comfortably stay at home alone for a few hours without chewing on objects. She does not cry or bark. Bambi has a calm and low-energy vibe, enjoying naps on the couch or close to her humans. She is the ideal home companion! Bambi joins her foster dog sibling on neighborhood walks, quickly adapting to walking on a leash. She is making excellent progress! Additionally, she is totally potty-trained and behaves wonderfully in the car. Bambi has made incredible progress and is ready to continue her journey with her forever family. Bambi is fully vetted, spayed, and microchipped. At approximately 2 years old and weighing 17.6 pounds, she is an absolute sweetheart. We are looking for a special family that will be patient and understanding of Bambie's unique pace. Without question, Bambi is the sweetest dog you could hope to meet!
