Meet Kitty: A cozy blanket connoisseur and gentle-hearted snuggle bug looking for a calm place to call home! Quick Facts Age: 8 years old Weight: 9 lbs Breed: Chihuahua Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Not tested Good with kids: Older, respectful children Crate trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Leash trained: In progress Why You’ll Love Kitty Sweet, gentle, and calm little lady Loves to burrow into soft, fluffy blankets Potty-trained and crate-trained Gets along with other dogs Low-maintenance Enjoys sunshine and outdoor time Snuggle bug once she feels safe A resilient senior with so much love to give About Kitty’s Breed Chihuahuas may be small in size, but they have big hearts and loyal spirits. Known for forming strong bonds with their people, they are often affectionate lap dogs who crave companionship. With their alert and curious personalities, Chihuahuas are expressive and often full of character. They tend to be sensitive and thrive in calm, loving environments. A Chihuahua is a devoted and spirited little companion who just wants a soft place to land and a warm person to love. Kitty’s Story & Personality Kitty is a sweet but timid little lady who came to the rescue a bit under-socialized. She is learning lots of new and wonderful things about being a beloved pet in her foster home and is loving all the cozy, fluffy blankets she gets to burrow into! Kitty can be skittish and a little shy when meeting new people, but with patience, she warms up and enjoys gentle pets and cuddles.  Kitty is both potty-trained and crate-trained, and she loves curling up in her crate for a nap (especially with a good pile of blankets!). She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, although she prefers to keep to herself rather than engage in play. She enjoys time outside and is learning how to walk on a leash—we think she’ll love short neighborhood strolls once she gains more confidence! Kitty’s Perfect Home A calm, quiet household Older children or an adult-only home Patient, experienced adopter who can give her time to blossom A fenced yard or safe outdoor space to explore A cozy home with lots of soft blankets and quiet corners Someone who will continue to monitor her health and provide the care she deserves Medical Notes Kitty will need a special adopter who can continue to care for her medically. She has a history of mammary gland cysts (which have been removed) and is being monitored for an enlarged heart and signs of intervertebral disc disease. She is resilient, shows no signs of pain, and still enjoys life—she just needs the chance to feel safe and loved in a forever home. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this tiny, resilient sweetheart, please apply online at www.crisisdogsnc.org. Kitty can’t wait to find her happily ever after. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Meet Johnny – Your Spunky, Snuggly Sidekick with a Big Smile! Quick Facts: Name: Johnny Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 16 lbs House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Other Pets: Good with other dogs! Good with Kids: Older kids recommended due to his independent streak Energy Level: Medium to high – loves to zoom and play! Special Needs: Must be fed separately; not great at sharing food Why You’ll Love Johnny: Bursting with personality and puppy energy Crate trained, leash trained, and doing well with potty training Great cuddle buddy who loves snuggling on the couch Smart and spunky – perfect for someone who enjoys a lively pup His big smile and zoomies will brighten your day A loyal, loving companion ready to be your little shadow About Johnny’s Breed Mix: Chihuahua mixes may be small in size, but they’re enormous in heart. Known for forming deep bonds with their people, they’re affectionate, alert, and full of personality. With a curious mind and a spirited nature, they’re often clever little characters who thrive with gentle guidance and consistent love. A Chihuahua mix brings sass, snuggles, and devotion—all wrapped in a small, expressive package. Johnny’s Story & Personality: Johnny had a tough start to life—he lived outside and had to fend for himself, which likely explains why he doesn’t love sharing his food. But that hasn’t stopped him from blossoming into a joyful, playful boy in his foster home. He’s got the cutest zoomies and an irresistible puppy grin. Johnny loves to play with other dogs too and would do great in a home with a doggie playmate! He is crate trained, leash trained, and enjoys going on neighborhood walks. After playtime, he’s ready to snuggle up and keep you warm. Mealtime is his favorite, so he should be fed separately to keep things peaceful. This independent little guy is affectionate, smart, and ready for a loving home to call his own. Johnny’s Perfect Home: Fenced yard to safely zoom and play A dog-savvy adopter who can respect his food boundaries Possibly another dog his size or larger, pending a meet-and-greet Someone who enjoys an affectionate yet independent pup A home ready for an active, fun-loving companion Ready to Make Johnny Yours? Johnny is fully vetted, crate trained, and eager for a forever family to play with and cuddle up to. If you’re ready for a big personality in a little package, Johnny could be your perfect match. Story
Meet Cooper – A Spirited, Snuggly Sidekick with a Soft Heart (and Coat!) Quick Facts: Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 2 years Weight: 17 lbs House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: No – prefers to be loose in the house Good with Dogs: Yes – must be with dogs his size or bigger, around his age that have a matching energy level Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Older, respectful kids only Energy Level: Medium – playful and affectionate Special Needs: A patient home, no crate, separation anxiety if left alone too long. No older or small dogs. Fence Required: Preferred for safe playtime Why You’ll Love Cooper: Bonds deeply with his humans and becomes a loyal shadow Great on leash – enjoys walks and meeting new people Sweet snuggler with a soft coat and an even softer heart Playful, energetic, but also loves his couch time Great with dogs bigger than him who have the same play energy! Smart and affectionate – the ultimate combo of love and liveliness About Cooper’s Breed Mix: Chihuahua mixes are known for their big personalities, deep loyalty, and endless love for their people. They thrive in environments where they feel safe and secure and typically form strong bonds with their primary caregiver. Their alert, intelligent nature makes them quick learners, and their affectionate side means they are just as content cuddled up as they are running around the yard. Cooper shows all these classic traits and more. He’s playful, observant, quick to learn, and once he trusts you, he’s all in – full of snuggles, tail wags, and companionship. Cooper’s Story & Personality: Cooper may have had a rough start in life – possibly due to past mistreatment – but this resilient little guy has come a long way. He’s gone from timid to thriving and is now doing fantastic on walks and with new people, especially when properly introduced on a leash. He warms up faster to women and would do best with a person or family that understands the value of patience and gentle encouragement. Cooper adores other dogs that match his energy and play style and would be happiest with a canine buddy or two, but they must be his size or bigger and around his age. However, he could also thrive as an only dog if given enough enrichment, walks, and attention. Cooper isn’t a fan of crates and becomes anxious if left alone too long, so a home where someone is around most of the time would be ideal. He is house-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and enjoys being a couch potato after playtime. His ultra-soft coat makes him extra cuddly – and his charming personality makes him unforgettable. Cooper’s Ideal Home: A patient, loving adopter or family A securely fenced yard for safe play A home with another dog or two his size or larger Someone home more often than not – he doesn’t like being alone for long Older children only, who understand dog boundaries A household that prefers love, cuddles, and a little playful chaos Ready to Bring Home Super Cooper? Cooper is fully vetted, neutered, house-trained, and leash-ready. He’s looking for a forever home where he can continue to grow, feel safe, and be loved like he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic companion with a heart full of love and a playful spirit, Cooper might just be your perfect match. Apply today at www.crisisdogsnc.org and give Cooper the second chance he’s been waiting for. #dogrescuer #adoptdontshop #rescueismyfavoritebreed #rescuedogs #northcarolina #rescuedog #northcarolinarescues #CrisisDogsNC #AdoptInRaleigh #AdoptInWakeCounty #RaleighDogRescue #WakeCountyDogRescue #RaleighDogs #WakeCountyDogs #AdoptInCharlotte #CharlotteDogRescue #CharlotteDogs #AdoptInDurham #DurhamDogRescue #DurhamDogs #AdoptInChapelHill #AdoptInAsheville #ChapelHillDogRescue #AshevilleDogRescue #ChapelHillDogs #AshevilleDogs Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. Story
Taco is a 4-year-old, 10lb tan and white Chihuahua Terrier mix. Every day is a fiesta with Taco! If you are looking for a dog who will shower you with kisses and love, you've found the right one. Small enough to be the best little spoon, Taco loves to be affectionate and cuddle. She isn't a total couch potato though; she loves to play and loves toys. She might take a little while to open up, but once she does, she'll be the ultimate lap dog. She does need some work on the leash and is almost housebroken, but she's very smart and will learn easily once she is setup in a routine. If you want to add some spice to your life with Taco, please apply online at www.crisisdogsnc.org. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description.
