Story
I am looking to rehome my beloved dog, Masuka. I acquired Masuka from a friend in 2016 when he was just 3 months old. At that time, he didn't have a name, but I wanted something that paired well with my other dog, Dexter. Inspired by the show Dexter, I named him Vincent Masuka, one of Dexter Morgan's good friends. Masuka is a bundle of energy, even at 8 years old. He loves running around and playing with toys just as much as he loves cuddling. Though he is small, he has a big bark that can seem intimidating. He barks at other people and dogs until he can interact with them, and then he turns into a sweetheart. I listed him as having "behavioral issues" because of his barking, but I'm not sure if it that counts as one. Rehoming Masuka is a heartbreaking decision, but I know it's the right one. I work long hours, and he deserves more attention than I can give. I hope to find someone with a heart for small, playful dogs who can give Masuka a home where he can truly thrive.

Can not walk on back legs.Apple was surrendered to the shelter to be euthanized. She had lost the use of her back legs and they couldn’t afford to get her vetted. The shelter fell love with her because she is so full of life and love. We rescued her and had in depth vet examination to find out if her back legs could be fixed. Unfortunately they said surgery would be a 50/50 success rate and with her age didn’t recommend it. They said otherwise she’s a happy healthy dog. She has a wheelchair but prefers to scoot around. She goes to the door when she needs to go outside. She is a very sweet senior who deserves someone who will love her regardless of her handicap. She is fully vetted. June 11, 2024, 7:42 pm

Story
Don't let his adorable looks fool you. Mr. Feeny is one grump of an old dude. In fact, if the movie Grumpy Old Men were to be remade, Mr. Feeny would easily get a starring role. He's not all grumbles and grouchiness though. Mr. Feeny will be a loving, snuggly boy when he gets comfortable and finds his person. Don't expect him to always be lovey-dovey. If he is not in the mood for pets and snuggles, this old man will let you know. Do you love to give your dog kisses? Then Mr. Feeny is not the dog for you. If there's one thing he dislikes more than kids, it's kisses. He will love you until he doesn't. But don't worry, he will love you again. While people are not always Mr. Feeny's jam, dogs most definitely are. Mr. Feeny really shines when he has a doggy friend who can match his laidback speed. Because of this, it is strongly preferred that he goes to a home where he can have a canine companion to snuggle and occasionally play with. Mr. Feeny has some arthritis so he will never be a hiker or marathon runner. He is more than happy to be carried around in a dog sling and despite his crankiness, he does love to go out and about for short trips to a brewery or bottle shop. Like most ornery old dudes, Mr. Feeny takes time to warm up to people. This dog has seen some things in his lifetime, so it takes time to gain his trust. In his younger days, Mr. Feeny must have been a party animal. He had to have several teeth pulled when he came to Freedom Ride. He has one lone front tooth (that you may be lucky enough to see if you go in for that kiss) and some molars in the back. Mr. Feeny also has a heart condition that requires daily meds and at least one yearly checkup at the cardiologist. Potential adopters must have experience with senior dogs that require ongoing medical care. The ideal home for Mr. Feeny would be with a single person or a couple that has no kids. Kids make Mr. Feeny nervous and anxious as heck. He is crate-trained and mostly house-trained. If he is startled or super excited, he will piddle a tiny amount. At night, he sleeps soundly in a dog bed. If you fit the bill and are interested in bringing this grumpy old man into your life to help him live out his golden years, please apply today!

Story
Kirby is a sweet affectionate little man. He seems to bond closely with "his person, but he isn't a fan of a busy household with lots of visitors. Kirby would make a great companion for adults who spend a lot of time at home and would like a lap dog and napping buddy to keep them company. He might be fine in a home with older/teenage children, but young kids are a bit much for him. He has been fine with both the cat and the dog in his foster home. He is working on being a "house dog and will need owners who will be patient with him and work on teaching him some doggy basics while he gets used to his new home. He's a sweet little guy who will love you forever if you give him the chance.

Story
If you are looking for a whole lot of personality in one small package, then Socrates is your guy. He knows what he wants and when he wants it. He can go from feisty to snuggles in less than a second. Even with his spicy side, he's doing well with his introduction to puppy training basics. He's doing well with recall (if you have a treat ready for him), he's making solid progress with potty training, and is working on his leash manners. Socrates is still a young puppy who will need people who are ready to continue his puppy training lessons so he can be his best self. Socrates will keep you on your toes with his frisky, spunky personality and will also give you plenty of puppy snuggles to balance it out!

Meet Herbie, the love bug! He's looking for a special someone to give all his kisses and affection. When your lap isn't available, he's content to snuggle into his spot on the sofa or his bed. After a 5 minute protest, Herbie sleeps all night in his crate and keeps it clean. He enjoys investigating the backyard, going for walks, playing with toys, and loves a good car ride. He warms up quickly to people, especially if a treat is involved. Herbie likes to know where his person is, when he's inside or out and comes when you call. If you're looking for a dog who looks at you adoringly and is excited to see you every single time, apply to meet Herbie today.

Meet Monkey, or Mr Monkey to his aquantences. This diminutive Chihuahua came from a home with other dogs and cats, and so gets along famously with all creatures he meets. He especially excels at the chihuahua speciality of snuggling under the covers with his foster parents. Monkey is about 10 or 11, it's hard to say, but he will be getting a much needed dental soon. He is content to lay in your lap or on a soft bed as long as he can snuggle with you come night time. Please apply for this sweet boy at apply.neshamarescue.org

Pinky is such a sweetheart! He loves everyone, loves to cuddle and just lay on your lap. He cuddles with the other dogs, loves attention but is also content with laying around. He would do best with someone who is home more often than not because he LOVES his people. He sadly lost all of his teeth when they had to be pulled in his dental :( BUT...He is a great dog to add to your pack if you already have some chihuahua friends!
