Story
CHARITY is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Meet Charity, apx 2 years young and 8 pounds. She is such a scared and nervous girl. Good with other dogs and cats. She bonds quickly with other dogs her size and has been around dogs from 5-25 pounds of all ages. She is nervous around large hyper dogs. We have never heard her bark and she has been here a month. She will not just come to you, but you can baby talk her. Once she is cornered or in her safe space or her favorite bed she will reluctantly allow pets and allow you to pick her up. She does not bite us, but I would not 110% say she would never bite, because she is so fearful I do think if she was cornered, especially by someone very intimidating or small young children that try to grab her very quickly, I can see her nipping possibly. That being said we have had her at the vet, we have done baths, vaccines, ears, nails, give her kisses, hold her, sing her songs, force our love upon her whether she appreciates it or not 🙂 and she has never tried to bite us. She is just scared, freezes and has eyes as big as saucers . She always tries to find a place to hide if she is uncomfortable. She has a sweet nature and soul, we can tell she will be a timid but loving companion with some time and trust. We really think in a home environment she will grow and blossom into a loving furbaby that sits on the couch with her humans and cuddles up in bed. It’s just going to take some time, love and patience. Charity may hold a lot of baggage from her past. She was found pregnant and gave birth at her finders home and all 5 babies died within 24 hours. Then she came to us. We are trying so hard to heal her broken heart and she has come a long way but she really needs a home and a family to reach her true potential and to really feel safe and like part of a family. No young children please and a fenced yard would be ideal. She is not ready to walk on leash and harness but I know one day she will try and probably follow her mama everywhere . Please give her a chance. ❤️ Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Currently in Texas Will be available for the February transport. Tallulah is approximately 6 to 7 years young and a chunky 7.5 pounds and could use a little new year diet 🙂 Tallulah was abandoned on a cul-de-sac in San Antonio, Texas. She was so scared and alone. She had been attacked by a dog. She also has a large hernia that is being repaired on the 16th of January. Her wound on her neck from the dog bite has been clipped, cleaned and is healing nicely. Tallulah is great with all other animals. But she LOVES people and is quite the attention seeker. She loves pets and to be coddled and carried and will worm her way into any lap for affection. She is such a social butterfly. Walks on leash, has pretty good potty manners for a chi 😉 , is not overly barky, and she is all and all just a gem. We do want her to go to a home that has a lot of time to give her as she really is quite an emotionally needy dog, but does not have any seen separation anxiety or anything like that, she just would be very sad to be without her humans for very long periods of the day. Tallulah is really an all-around fantastic girl and will give you so much love and affection. So if you are looking for your best friend , look no further ! Story
Currently fostered in Texas Please read complete bio. Granny Dixie . We all LOVE this dog because she is certainly quirky and makes us smile. She is apx 10 -12 years old and apx 14 pounds. Granny Dixie is from a high kill shelter here in our town of Pleasanton. She was in rough shape when we got her, but it is very clear that once upon a time someone really loved this dog. She was already spayed and has clearly already had dental work done in the past. She has good potty manners and walks on leash. She LOVES walks. She does have scarring around her neck conducive of being either tied up outside or wearing a collar for too long that was way too tight. She is a bit thin, low muscle mass but already showing improved body composition. She has a good appetite. Her coat was disgustingly dirty and fried from the Texas Sun, she had clearly been outdoors for a while. Her coat is getting softer. She has your typical arthritis in her rear legs but she does not seem in pain. We have never heard Dixie make a sound, never a bark or a whimper or a fuss. She is the most laid back easy peasy dog you could ever ask for. She likes attention but is not needy. She is not a huge fan of being “coddled”. She loves people and loves attention and Baby talk and to be doing whatever it is you’re doing she will follow you everywhere, but she is not really one that adores being picked up or squeezed or her face being kissed all over. She is not a mushy dog lover dog. She does love people though. She is happy being near you she loves when you walk through the door and she does little happy dances. She has a lot of personality in her own way and truly is a southern grandma type . She checks on the other dogs . She will let any dog lay with her . She is just so go with the flow of the day zero anxiety. She would love a low key home without a lot of chaos but I am sure she would be fine with visits from young family members . ***Granny Dixie has some medical we would like to tell you about. She has what are called dermal hemangiomas. A dermal hemangioma is a common, benign (non-cancerous) growth of extra blood vessels in the skin, often appearing as a red or purple "strawberry mark," The vet stated these are mostly non cancerous but the only way to know for sure would be to cut them and biopsy them. Considering her age and the fact that she does not need to go under anesthesia for a spay or dental, we find the risk is worse than the reward in this outcome and do not feel the need to put her under anesthesia to get these biopsied. At her age, even if these were cancerous there is very little anyone would be able to do about it at this point. Pics in comments. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Shadow is apx 1.5 year young and apx18 pounds. He was found running down a street and had a collar on with a phone number. We called and txt the number . After about an hour the “owner” replied stating they were on vacation and apparently left the dog in the back yard with food and water. I asked if they were going to come back to get them and then they blocked me so the answer to that is NO. Poor Shadow. He deserves so much better!! Shadow is a nervous boy for a minute while meeting new people and being in new places but a little baby talk and he is settles in and as soon as you give him pets and kisses, he is now your new bff. He is actually very social and friendly and silly, just weary of strangers for a moment. Who can blame him. Safe to say he was not treated well by his gem of an owner. He has a fluffy tail and a medium length soft coat, he loves to play and is a happy dog but also loves cuddles and is an excellent mix of both playful and chill. He loves all animals and although we don’t have children to test him with I think he would be great with kids. He walks on leash. He keeps his kennel clean but is not 100% potty trained however holds it all night in his kennel Run. He will need a belly band in the house until he gets fully potty trained but he is so people pleasy, I can’t imagine that taking very long. Story
*This dog is fostered in the Hamilton area*Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. She is a sweet 3-5 year old brown with some black Pomeranian mix who weighs 12lbs. When Juliette meets new people she is a tad shy and takes time to warm up. She needs time to gain trust and feel comfortable in her surroundings. Then she would just love to snuggle with her person - she really loves her people! She was rescued from a hoarding situation where she and 7 other Pom mixes were left in a garage without walks or other basic TLC - and every day she comes out of her sweet shell a bit more. She enjoys the company of other dogs but definitely prefers people (once she warms up). We are not sure about cats. She would have to meet them and we do not have any at the ranch where she is - she does not have much prey drive though. She does very well in a crat and we are watching how she does in the house - so far no messes. She does need a potty schedule to set her up for success as she doesnt bark or go to the door when she has to go. She needs work with leash walking but she does her best, and is ok to be carried but can be squirmy if she is afraid. She does love to snuggle in blankets and in a bed. She needs the right family to accept her and show her affection and a good life. We have not seen her interact with young kids and we would not recommend a home with them as she is still a little timid and we don't want her overwhelmed. A calm home where people have patience and lots of love to give would be perfect for her. Juliettes 1-Month Foster Update After one month in her foster home, Juliette has truly begun to blossom. What started as a shy newcomer has revealed a playful, joyful pup even braving the snow to show off her zoomies! She loves to run, toss in the occasional jump, and classic puppy play bows that are impossible not to smile at.But Juliettes heart is just as big as her playful spirit. She is incredibly affectionate and bonds deeply with her people. When her favourite humans come home, she greets them with happy whines, full-body excitement, and lots of sweet kisses the kind of welcome that instantly melts away a long day.Juliette is ready for a forever home where she can keep growing, loving, and sharing her gentle, joyful nature. Shes the kind of dog who doesnt just live in your house she fills it with warmth.
