Story
Asphalt is available through Project POOCH. If you are interested in adoption, learn more and submit an application at pooch.org/asphalt Asphalt is an adventurous little guy! Don’t be the one to try to tell him that little dogs don’t do “big dog” things. He is always eager to join the guys on the walks, is a blast to train, and believes in balancing his work with equal enthusiasm for play. At only 6 lbs, Asphalt rewrites expectations of small dogs solely being purse dogs. He joins in on the walks and is a good partner to strut with. The youth are perfecting his leash manners and he continues to learn more each day. He is, however, still very much ok with being catered to when the time is right. (He even trained some of the youth to wear the sling during chore time so he could stick right by them.) If you’re looking for a pint sized dog to show up big dogs in the trick department, Asphalt could be a great fit for you. He is incredibly treat motivated and learns quickly. He’s been working on adding to his trick list while at POOCH and would love to show them off to you! Interested? https://www.pooch.org/adoption-application

Story
Bullwinkle is available through Project POOCH. If you are interested in adoption, learn more and submit an application at pooch.org/bullwinkle Bullwinkle is a lowrider with a bit of a gym bod! This little tank of a dog is enthusiastic about snacks, play, and snuggles! For his snacks, Bullwinkle has all sorts of tricks to show you! His favorite is his meerkat impression, which is usually the first trick he goes to when he thinks there are snacks to be had (It's a good one too, because it usually results in him getting said snacks.) When playing, Bullwinkle gets really into character. He is vocal when playing tug, but it's all a game, he doesn't mean to sound so scary. It's just that he's a method actor and really needs to feel the part. However, cuddles might just be his favorite. He's a clear choice for the youth when they want some down time with a dog, because he is always down for a snuggle sesh. He is a great size to join you on the couch for movie night, small enough that he isn't crushing you, big enough to be a little lap heater. Bullwinkle came to Project POOCH with his literal brother Rocky. While they were originally considered to be a bonded pair, we have seen both dogs shine with some solo time and they've really enjoyed not being lumped in with the other. While they might do good in a home with space for them each to be their own, they have been flying solo at POOCH and blossoming into their own dogs. Interested in meeting Bullwinkle? Fill out an application for a meet and greet! https://www.pooch.org/adoption-application

Story
Peggy & Bug: Two Tiny Survivors Looking for Their Forever Safe Place! Some dogs find each other. These two need each other. Meet Peggy and Bug, an inseparable bonded pair with hearts far bigger than their tiny bodies. They’ve overcome more than most dogs ever should, but they haven’t let that stop them from believing in love. Peggy is a 4 year old, 5 lb. long-haired Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who proudly rocks three and a half legs after losing part of a back foot. She doesn’t let it slow her down—she’s resilient, gentle, and absolutely adorable. Bug is a 7 year, 4 lb. itty-bitty Chihuahua with the sweetest little head tilt, a reminder of a fractured skull she survived. Her tilted head does not hold her back, only adds to her charm, and once she trusts you, she’ll melt right into your lap. These two are shy when meeting new people, but don’t worry—they’re easily bribed with treats! Give them a little patience, a few snacks, and some gentle kindness, and they’ll reward you by becoming your tiny shadows and loyal cuddle buddies. They lean on each other for confidence, comfort, and courage, so they must be adopted together. Peggy and Bug are looking for a very special home where they can continue to feel safe. They would do best with: A calm, patient family willing to let them settle in at their own pace. Only small dogs—their tiny size makes living with large dogs unsafe. No small children, as accidental bumps or falls could easily injure them. A home with cats would be fine for these two gentle souls. Plenty of cozy blankets, soft beds, and laps for snuggling once they’ve decided you’re their person. These aren’t dogs looking for excitement—they’re looking for peace. For someone who understands that the best relationships are built on trust, patience, and unconditional love. If you’re willing to open your heart to two little underdogs who have already beaten the odds, you’ll gain two devoted best friends who will spend every day reminding you that the bravest hearts often come in the tiniest packages. Peggy and Bug have survived together. Now they’re looking for the forever home where they can truly thrive—together. ❤️ Peggy and Bug's adoption fee is $495 for the two of them and they are both spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Apply to meet them today!

Story
Meet Smudge! ❤️ Smudge is a 10-month-old, 25 lb. Chihuahua Terrier mix with a gentle heart and a playful spirit. She’s looking for a patient, loving home where she can continue to grow into the confident little dog we know she’s capable of becoming. Smudge can be a little anxious, jumpy, and timid around new people, but with time, patience, and a predictable routine, she continues to come out of her shell. Once she trusts you and chooses you as her person, she’ll be your most loyal little shadow, happily following you wherever you go. Smudge does best with medium to large, friendly dogs and would enjoy having a confident canine companion to help her feel secure. She is looking for a cat-free home and would do best with children ages 9 and older who can be patient, respectful of her space, and allow her to build trust at her own pace. She’s still a puppy at heart and loves to play, but she will thrive in a calm, supportive home where she can settle in and continue gaining confidence. Watching Smudge blossom and learn to trust is incredibly rewarding, and she’ll make a wonderful companion for someone willing to give her the time, patience, and understanding she deserves. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal little dog who just needs a chance to shine, Smudge might be the perfect addition to your family. Smudge's adoption fee is $295, and she is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Come meet Smudge today!
