Hi, I'm Baz! Quiet courage looks a lot like learning to trust the world one small step at a time. I am a seven-year-old guy who had a rough start in life, and because of that, I move slowly with new people. I am not the run up and kiss your face type. I am the watch you quietly, decide you seem safe, and then gradually let my guard down kind of dog. And when I choose to trust you, it truly means something. Because I am a small guy at just 30 pounds, it is especially important that I am treated with the same respect you would give a larger dog. Sometimes people pick up little dogs without warning, crowd them, or push past their comfort level in ways they would never do with a big dog. I need a family who understands that my size does not mean I am automatically comfortable with everything. I deserve the same boundaries, consideration, and thoughtful handling as any dog. I am crate trained and find real comfort in routine. One of my favorite things in the world is curling up in my blankets and enjoying quiet time. Those peaceful moments are where I feel most secure. I would do best in a home with a single adult, low traffic home, who understands boundaries and can respect my need for space. I do best as the only pet and would be happiest in a home without other dogs or cats. If you are someone who finds joy in small victories, believes in meeting dogs where they are, and wants to be the person who shows a gentle soul that life can be safe and kind, then I might just be your match.
