Story
ROMAN NEEDS A HOME~ Roman is brother to Princess. He is 3 1/2, almost 4 in May. He is a little Chihuahua looking dog. He has shitzu in his DNA. He wants to be alpha and should probably not go to a home with other male dogs. He is very scared of a lot of things. He likes attention but needs to be the one that comes to you. He doesn't like leashes. But if you want to take him on a walk, then you have to let him lead you. We lead him to walk with a treat, and then he starts going on his own. We have to go where he wants to go without pulling on the leash. He is very skittish. But once he is used to you, he loves you. (Princess is his sister - Hopes Haven dog)

Poe is a sweet senior dog. We love pets and unfortunately he is not taking well to other dogs. He likes calm and quiet so he does not prefer small children or dogs. He loves cats and thinks he is one! He does have cherry eyes, it does not cause him discomfort. Surgery is always an option we have just always opted out. He’s a lovable guy.

Story
Gimli is a 2-year-old puppy, 16 lbs, born September 12, 2023. He is a Chihuahua mix that was believed to be with dachshund. He is well loved but my mother is unable to care for him long term now. He is healthy, neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, crate trained and potty trained. He is loving and affectionate with his family and does well with kids and pets he knows. He can be reactive toward strangers and unfamiliar animals, so slow introductions and an experienced owner are important. Gimli needs a stable home with a secure yard and will be a loyal, devoted companion to the right family.

Story
Bocce is a terrific little dog in the making. He came to us as the last of a group of small dogs dumped in an orchard in California last November 2025. Since then he had been living in an outside kennel. Bocce has been fostered with our Director since January 31st and is truly embracing the comforts of indoor living! - 18 pounds and approximately 2 years old - Regal, distinguished Chihuahua mix who prefers a calm home. - Adores women! Bocce would like a female adopter as the main character. He follows his foster mom everywhere she goes with his loyal little spirit. He readily takes treats from his foster dad and is neutral to him. No barking or aggression. He just doesn't show the same level of enthusiasm for men that he does for women. Bonds quickly with women. - Neutral with other dogs. Bocce is fostered with three large dogs and does well with them. He hasn't been playful with them yet but it's been less than a week so we think he will get there. He does follow their lead though. We think Bocce could do well as an only dog or in a home with other dogs that aren't big and rambunctious. He prefers dogs that aren't in his face and pushy with him. - We have not cat tested him but we have helped find homes for 3 other dogs in Bocce's immediate family and all were appropriate with cats. We do think he will likely be fine with cats. - No kids please. Bocce startles and will also bolt if he is scared. We would worry a child might open a door or gate and set Bocce free. He needs safe containment and management around open doors. - Potty habits are going well. No pee accidents in the home. He has had a few poop accidents because he goes potty almost immediately after eating his meals so he needs to be let out promptly after he's finished eating. He holds his potty all though the night with no accidents. He also holds his potty in the crate with no accidents in the crate. He reliably goes potty when you take him out. - Does well in the crate and has been crated for up to 5 hours at a time - Enjoys sleeping out on a dog bed in his foster mom's bedroom at night. Good sleeper and doesn't disrupt the human's sleep. - Likes to be pet but hasn't quite figured out how to solicit pets from the humans. So when you pet him he kinda freezes but then relaxes and closes his eyes from bliss as you pet his head and body. He does enjoy petting and can be picked up. QUIRKS: - Bocce can scale chain link fences. However, he only tries to escape the first week as he's settling into a new home. After a few days in his new home, he settles in pretty readily and no longer looks to escape. He will just need to be on a long line leash for at least the first few days in his new home to help keep him safe and secure. - Shy. Bocce bonds strongly with his person and is reserved with new people. So he may not seem enthusiastic to meet you at a visit but we promise he WILL bond with you usually within the first 48 hours if you give him some grace and patience to get his bearings in a new home. - Bocce is super food motivated which means he may try to swipe food from the table or kitchen counter. He has tried it 3 times in the first week in foster. Correcting him when caught in the act has helped and he's realizing that putting paws on a dinner table or kitchen counter is not appropriate. It is not a persistent act. It's more like he may try it once or twice and then gets the message that it's not ok. Bocce is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, dewormed and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Portland or Tualatin. $250 adoption fee Fostered in Oregon City, Oregon APPLY TO ADOPT BOCCE ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
Pepe is a 12yr old and needs a home where he can be the center of attention. Preferably with a female and no other animals. He has been a family pet, but primarily our daughter's dog. She has taken very good care of him but has moved out of state and is unable to bring him with her. Pepe was a rescue dog at 6 mo., while he had a hard start in life he has been spoiled with lots of love. He shared our home with a couple of other pups who have since gone over the rainbow bridge. We now have a 1 1/2 year old pup and if you can imaging pup energy with a senior dog some days are a challenge. Pepe does enjoy short walks, and 1 to 1 attention and would thrive with someone who would focus only on him.
