Story
Buffy is perhaps the cutest, super buff little lady ever! She was a bodybuilder in her past life for sure. She loves other dogs and is currently fostering with multiple pups and humans, too. Buffy was VERY shy of humans and would hide away, but now she likes to hang around and even sleep in a human bed. She is ready to start receiving affection soon but has been hands off for the most part. Buffy needs a patient person to bring her out of her shell the rest of the way. She is spayed and vaccinated. If you are interested in Buffy and would like to give her a try, please contact colleen@startrescue.org Her adopter will need immediate access to a secure yard straight from their back door, AND another dog to help show Buffy the way! Buffy is 2 years old and we adore here and you will too. Contact Colleen@startrescue.org to meet her in Portland, OR.

Story
Suzy is currently being fostered in Houston, TX and can be transported out of state to an approved adopter. She will be on a spay/neuter contract and will need to be spayed once she is 6 months of age. Our adoption fee is $575 and includes transportation and all vetting. Suzy is a 5 month old chihuahua mix that was rescued from the streets of Cleveland, TX when her mom had her and her siblings. Since then she has been nothing but a happy, healthy puppy! She loves to play with other dogs and her toys and has tons of energy. She is still learning how to 'dog' and will need an owner that understands the commitment of training and socializing a young puppy. She is crate trained and getting the hang of potty training. She is cat, dog and kid friendly. We think Suzy would do best in any home. Please apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog

Story
*Now fostered in Lake Stevens, WA* This cutie is Idaho. He is currently 6 months old and we think they may be a chihuahua mix*, but with rescue it’s a guess! What matters most is that they are adorable and are one the MOST desperate in the entire US based on statistics for where this puppy is from. Shelters in this area are having to euthanize puppies. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from us, it saves their life as well as the life of another in its place. Watch Idaho’s playful personality here: https://youtu.be/nAT2SCRJED0?si=4QXyU1YpWLrDRBCb Idaho is playful, sweet, curious, and cuddly. He loves to play with his siblings and take lots of naps. Eat, sleep, play, repeat- such is puppy life! We pride ourselves in being able to give you good personality and behavioral information to help ensure this baby is the right fit for you. You are also welcome to do a Facetime call to meet your new baby before signing paperwork! Idaho is still very young and will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. A puppy is discovering new things that shape their personalities with each passing day. Implementing routine, structure, setting boundaries, and proper socialization is key from the start. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy starting immediately when arriving at their new home, which will help with potty training, energy management, and the overall development of a well-rounded adult dog. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Our on-site trainers are dedicated to each dog’s growth, and we enjoy seeing their progress! We go above and beyond to ensure every animal receives exceptional care. Story
Peanut may be tiny, but don’t let his size fool you—this little Chihuahua/wire-haired terrier mix has a BIG personality. At around two months old, Peanut is a playful, goofy, tail-wagging machine who is fully committed to living life as one big adventure. Peanut is the kind of puppy who turns everything into a game. Got a toy? It’s his favorite. Got another toy? Also his favorite. Got a sock? Well… that might be his most favorite. He loves to bounce around, play tug, and zoom in happy little circles like he just discovered joy for the first time (every single time). His playful energy is contagious, and it’s nearly impossible not to smile when he’s around. Watch his YouTube video now https://youtu.be/VaHXt10YCaA?si=iZMbNbyHGGT8bm_d He’s also wonderfully social and loves being part of the action. Whether you’re playing, moving around the house, or just existing nearby, Peanut wants to be involved. He’s curious, silly, and full of that classic puppy mischief that keeps life interesting. Because Peanut is still a baby, he’ll need a family ready to commit to all the important puppy basics—potty training, structure, patience, and lots of positive reinforcement. He’s not going to come pre-programmed, but that’s part of the magic. Watching him learn and grow will be one of the most rewarding experiences. Peanut is looking for a home that will embrace his playful spirit, guide him with love, and give him plenty of time and attention. In return, he’ll bring nonstop laughter, endless affection, and a lifetime of loyalty packed into one tiny, wiggly little pup. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69b486679f183a9ac005b9e2 Questions? Story
Who’s tiny, white, curly and extra fluffy? Well, that’s Oscar for you! Oscar is a great boy who is learning the ways of the world. We estimate him to be about 3 years old. His tiny size comes from his Maltese Chihuahua roots if we’re going off of his good looks. Breed is never guaranteed in rescue— All we can do is guess! Oscar is about 15 pounds of pure lap dog though. Regardless of breed, these dogs are one of a kind. But especially Oscar! Oscar is currently in a loving foster home where he is fostered with other small dogs of his likeness. 7 dogs at that! He is having a great time learning all about toys, treats, and all things good. It’s been a pleasure to see him blossom into a playful little guy. One of his foster siblings is 19 years old, and Oscar makes sure he is gentle with her, never bothering her and taking corrections well. He is so funny— him and his siblings often play musical bowls, sharing their food at each meal time with no issues. They just move from one to the other. Sharing is caring! See Oscar being a little cutie pie in his video, then come back to read more! https://youtu.be/P2nA-U6pEBA?si=xrbMiQLueCUngvoR Oscar is the type of guy that likes to take things slow and he doesn’t move too fast on the first date. Earning his loyalty and trust is something that makes you feel so special. That’s why Oscar is so unique if he loves you, he falls hard for you and he’s a loyal little guy! His Foster says the Oscar is trusted to free Roam in the house and that he sleeps in bed with her at night. What a little cuddle bug! Oscar often finds himself on anything soft like the couch or his cozy dog bed on the floor. He doesn’t mind snuggling up with his new siblings and he’s always sitting on the porch with them enjoying the evening sounds. He will be your perfect morning coffee buddy watching you make breakfast in the kitchen and sitting outside enjoying the nice sunrise with you. Or sunset! Oscar isn’t picky, but you can tell that he is so thankful to be saved. We believe Oscar would be best in a home with a yard only because he loves being outside so much. His Foster will always find him in the shady spot underneath her sunflowers or following around the Blue Jays that she feeds. Sounds like it’s straight out of a movie! It’s almost like he is enjoying all of the little things that he didn’t get before he came to us. Although we haven’t seen Oscar with kids just yet we do believe the older kids would be best for this guy only because of his timidness. Like we said, he prefers to take things slow and he would he would love a life with a routine and calmness. Gentleness is the best thing about Oscar and he just craves peacefulness. Older kiddos that can understand and respect. His boundaries would be best! We have not seen him with kitties either, but we do believe that Oscar would be all right with a cat only because of his size. Eventually, he may want to play so we’re not recommending a home with just one kitty, but kitties and dogs alike would be fine. If you would like us to cat test him, please just say the word and we would be happy to help! Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
