Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LESLIE was originally saved from a high kill shelter in Texas back in April 2017 and adopted to a family in NH in October 2017. Sadly she was picked up as a stray in April 2026 and after finally being able to reach the owner, they told me they do not want her anymore. It is very important to note that there was also a black chihuahua that was with Leslie but the people who got Leslie wasn't able to get the chihuahua. We have posters up and if the chihuahua is found we will be taking him into rescue and the person that adopts Leslie MUST agree to adopt the Chihuahua also as they were apparently bonded. His lost pet poster is in Leslie's photo's. This will be a condition of Leslie's adoption and will be in the contract. Just 5 days of having Leslie back we had her at Androscoggin vets for blood work, dental and rabies. She had 13 teeth extracted, her blood work came back good, she is heartworm and tick disease negative, she had her rabies vaccine, weighs 15 pounds and we are happy she is a healthy girl who is now pain free having all those rotted teeth extracted. Leslie is a very affectionate girl, she is responsive, walks great on the leash, rides great in the car, takes treats gently, she is food motivated.  Although Leslie, being around 9-10 years old making her a senior she is still a happy active girl and we are looking for a family that is still active and gets out on walks and adventures to ensure this sweet girl gets the best life possible. As a senior, she will need regular vet appointments and her remaining teeth kept clean to keep her mouth healthy and prevent pain and disease. Regular blood work is also recommended to keep an eye on her health. She is medium-long haired and will need to be brushed regular and around her face and private areas groomed. Leslie is available for an adoption fee of $550 Just to reiterate, if the Chihuahua is found, the family WILL be under contractual agreement to adopt the chihuahua also since they were a bonded pair. Adoption Details Location: Dover-Foxcroft, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire. Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet Lucy. ⏱️ Applications are generally processed within 24-48 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of Leslie? Story
All hail King Solomon of the Snuggle Clan! At just 12 weeks old and already weighing in at 10 pounds, this Chihuahua mix may be small, but his personality is anything but small.  His ultimate weight should be 20-24 pounds of sleek good looks and agile moves.  Solomon is the perfect blend of cuddle bug and playful little rascal. One minute he’s curled up on the couch soaking in all the love, and the next he’s proudly marching around the yard with a stick twice his size, like he just conquered his kingdom. He loves romping with his puppy friends, chasing kids through the yard, playing with his toys, and following his humans everywhere—your loyal little shadow has officially arrived. Like any young pup, Solomon is still learning the ropes. He’s working on leash walking with a harness, potty training, crate training, and understanding personal space—especially with his senior Blue Heeler foster sisters who are helping show him the way. The good news is he’s already picking up on things quickly. He comes when called, understands that “no” means no, scratches at the door when he needs to go outside, and does well with cats. He’s a smart little guy who just needs consistency to keep shining. Solomon also has a brave-but-sensitive side. Around new male dogs, he can get a little unsure and may try to act tough before retreating to his safe place right between your legs. With patience and reassurance, he’s learning that he doesn’t have to be afraid. He’s also made great progress with early food guarding, showing just how much he can grow when he feels secure. This little king is ready to find his forever person—someone to love him, guide him, and give him the safe, happy life he deserves. In return, you’ll gain a best friend who will rule your heart in the sweetest way possible. Story
Chihuahuas are some of the most beloved breeds in America today. Their small bodies and tender, loving souls bring the kind of affection that so many people are searching for. They don’t need much space or food, yet they give enormous companionship, loyalty, and joy. These little dogs want to be at the center of their person’s world, creating bonds that last a lifetime and leaving a legacy of love that endures even after they are gone.   Grant’s story is one of resilience and hope. He came from a home with too many dogs and not enough care, ending up in a tiny shelter in Tennessee, frightened and unsure of the world. Despite this uncertain past, Grant has a gentle heart and a sweet, affectionate nature that is shining through more every day.   Grant is a handsome 1-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua with the most charming white sock “leggings” that make him truly stand out. He’s a tall little boy with a big heart, and though he can be a bit nervous at first, he is making remarkable progress in just two weeks with us. Like a child a little afraid of the dark, Grant simply needs patience, love, and gentle reassurance. Once he feels safe, he will gladly curl up in your lap, soak up attention, and shower you with affection.   He is good with other dogs, though sometimes a little bossy at first—likely a habit from his uncertain past—but he quickly backs down once he feels secure. Grant is mostly housebroken and does well in a home without a crate. He is a climber and clever little adventurer, so confining him isn’t the best idea. He thrives when allowed to move freely, and he won’t tear anything up.   Grant is a small dog with enormous potential to become a loving, devoted companion for the right person. He is ready to blossom in a home that will give him the patience and affection he deserves, one cozy, comforting day at a time.   To make Grant a part of your life, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Please include your city and state.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 7, 2026, 7:58 pm

Story
Once upon a time there was a sad group of chihuahuas that were being used to make ends meet for a financially challenged family in rural Tennessee. The intentions started out good but soon things got out of hand.  Very much out of hand. Patty Cake and all the other Chihuahuas who had produced puppies to sell for income, were in a situation of chaos and unsanitary living conditions.  The humans' marriage broke up and the man walked out and desperation set in. This led to Patty Cake being surrendered to the rescue world and 17 other Chihuahuas escaped a bad life.  We soon learned that Patty Cake was pregnant. No one knew it, because she was so thin from lack of proper food.  She gave birth and lovingly raised one puppy.  Now it is Patty Cake's time to have her future years in the sun and be free of the chore of having babies just to bring in money to live on.  This is a very quiet and pretty 4 year old Chihuahua girl is ready to sit upon her new owner's lap like a little queen watching over her domain.  She is learning about the world outside and is exploring new adventures every day.  We want Patty to be comfortable and happy in a home with no young children who might need to be a bit busy and active.  She needs tranquility, love and patience as she learns what a normal life can provide to her.  She is crate trained and leash trained and housebroken.  She is beautiful and weighs 11 pounds and is still young.  Patty Cake is nice Diva.  A loving Chihuahua who needs a stable and Chihuahua savvy home.  She deserves the good times that we know someone can offer. If you are interested please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  Please let us know where you live as we do transport out of Tennessee to the northeastern states every weekend.PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 7, 2026, 7:58 pm

Story
Meet Tubby — a tender little soul learning that life can be kind.  At just 4 years old and a tiny 9 pounds, this handsome light tan Chihuahua boy has already come such a long way. Tubby’s story didn’t begin with soft beds and loving arms—it began in a backyard breeding situation in a small Tennessee town, where he and 16 other Chihuahuas had never even experienced the outside world. On Valentine’s Day, two rescues, including Critter Cavalry, stepped in to change his life forever. And what a beautiful transformation it’s been. Over the past six weeks in foster care, Tubby has been quietly, bravely discovering what it means to live. Every day, he grows a little more confident, a little more curious, and a little more trusting. His foster mom says it’s been incredibly special to watch him bloom at his own gentle pace. Tubby has overcome more than just fear—he’s also had extensive dental care to relieve him of painful, damaged teeth, and now he’s feeling so much better and finally able to enjoy life comfortably. He is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped—ready for his fresh start. This sweet boy has been working hard behind the scenes, too. He’s learned that his crate is a safe, cozy space just for him, and he’s beginning to understand harnesses, leashes, and the big, exciting world outside. While he’s still gaining confidence, his progress has been nothing short of inspiring. You can see how much he wants to be brave.  At home, Tubby’s true personality begins to shine. His absolute favorite place? Right next to you on the couch. Once he feels safe, he melts into the moment—quietly affectionate, deeply loyal, and oh-so-loving. Those peaceful snuggle sessions are where Tubby’s heart really opens up.  Because he forms such strong bonds, Tubby would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time to offer reassurance and companionship. He’s still learning that the world is safe, and he’ll need a patient, kindhearted person who understands that love—and trust—take time. But make no mistake: Tubby is worth it. The person who welcomes him home won’t just be adopting a dog—they’ll be witnessing a beautiful transformation. And in return, Tubby will give a lifetime of quiet devotion, gentle companionship, and unconditional love.   Ready to give Tubby the life he’s always deserved?Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to learn more or apply to adopt.Tubby is ready to travel and can easily catch a ride on the transport van any weekend—straight into the arms of his forever family.
