Story
“Lightning Strikes Twice…Right Into Your Heart” At just 12 weeks old and a tiny 6 pounds, Flash is already living up to his name—zipping, zooming, and stealing hearts in record time. One minute he’s playfully prancing across the room, the next he’s curled up close, melting into you like he’s always belonged there.       This little Chihuahua boy is full of curiosity and charm. He’s learning all the important puppy things—crate training, a bathroom routine, and even sneaking in some cozy nights sleeping right by your side. Like any baby, he’s still figuring it all out, but his sweet nature makes every step of the journey a joy.   Flash’s story started in a cardboard box outside a hardware store in a small Tennessee town.  A elderly man was handing out puppies lije Halloween candy.  Three were left.  Thanks to a kind rescue couple, 3 puppies went home with them and all 3 are in loving foster homes and looking for the perfect future family. Flash is now safe, adored by his foster family but seeking a forever family who will treasure him.   Flash is expected to stay under 15 pounds and will likely grow into those signature Chihuahua “radar ears” to match his big personality.  He may be small, but his love is anything but.   Flash will be ready to travel from Nashville on April 10th. If you’re ready for a little spark of joy in your life, this tiny bolt of love is waiting for you.  email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 5, 2026, 9:29 pm

Story
Sometimes we get the most unusual phone calls that prick our heart with the intensity of a desperate need, even if they are a thousand miles away.   Trooper, and some of his friends from New Mexico have entered our world and we are trying to help.  There's a rural shelter in a small town in New Mexico that very few people stop in to adopt. But yet, the drop offs continue to build, and adoptions do not match the number of dogs in the shelter.  A very dedicated and passionate rescue woman that drives her own independent tractor trailer, moving loads of cargo in freight from state to state, from job to job, has learned that she must stop in at that shelter and check out what they have on the euthanasia list.  She is an independent lady who champions the underdogs.  She gave Critter Cavalry  a call and told us about a number of small breed dogs that are under twenty pounds that needed a rescue to save them.  Critter Cavalry signed up. Trooper is an adorable 6 month old small breed boy that we think is a Chiweenie. Trooper, is a beautiful boy who is six months old and weighs 8 pounds and will most probably top out as an adult boy at 15 pounds. He is cuddly, shy and great with other dogs. If you are interested in giving this sweet boy a beautiful life and future, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 5, 2026, 9:29 pm

Story
Bruno Mars may share a name with a famous performer, but this little Chihuahua has his own kind of star quality. At 4 years old and 20 pounds, Bruno is a handsome boy who is currently carrying a few extra pounds from his previous life, but with some fun exercise and a loving home, he’s already on his way to becoming the sleek little heart-stealer he was meant to be.   Bruno Mars spent the early part of his life as a breeder dog in a home that had far too many Chihuahuas and not nearly enough one-on-one attention. While the environment wasn’t the worst situation imaginable, it certainly wasn’t the life a small, affectionate dog like him deserved. With so many dogs around, there simply wasn’t time for play, attention, or the little joys that make a dog’s life special.  Now that those days are behind him, Bruno is discovering how wonderful life can really be. One of his favorite discoveries has been the game of fetch. This boy absolutely lights up when someone throws his favorite toy. He runs after it with pure joy, proudly brings it back, and waits excitedly for the next throw. His toy is his prized possession and he loves carrying it around like a treasure. It’s hard not to smile watching him enjoy something that was likely never part of his life before.   Fetch is not only Bruno’s favorite game, it’s also helping him get healthier and slimmer while bonding with the people who play with him. Long walks, playtime, and lots of affection are exactly what this sweet boy has been waiting for. And affection is something Bruno Mars has plenty of. True to his charming name, he is quite the little lover boy. Bruno adores people and will happily shower his foster mom with kisses until she gently tells him that’s enough for the moment. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and gets along beautifully with other dogs and even cats.   His foster family says he is an incredibly affectionate, happy little guy who just wants to be someone’s devoted companion.   With a bit more exercise and a family of his own, Bruno Mars is going to blossom into a truly stunning Chihuahua who will fill his home with joy, laughter, and plenty of kisses.   If you’re looking for a playful, loving companion who will happily walk beside you and play fetch for as long as you’re willing to throw the toy, Bruno Mars might be your perfect match.   Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested. Bruno is fostered in Nashville, TN. We also adopt to families in the northeastern region and provide transportation on a certified animal transport van.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
Meet Tubby — a tender little soul learning that life can be kind.   At just 4 years old and a tiny 9 pounds, this handsome light tan Chihuahua boy has already come such a long way. Tubby’s story didn’t begin with soft beds and loving arms—it began in a backyard breeding situation in a small Tennessee town, where he and 16 other Chihuahuas had never even experienced the outside world. On Valentine’s Day, two rescues, including Critter Cavalry, stepped in to change his life forever. And what a beautiful transformation it’s been.   Over the past six weeks in foster care, Tubby has been quietly, bravely discovering what it means to live. Every day, he grows a little more confident, a little more curious, and a little more trusting. His foster mom says it’s been incredibly special to watch him bloom at his own gentle pace.   Tubby has overcome more than just fear—he’s also had extensive dental care to relieve him of painful, damaged teeth, and now he’s feeling so much better and finally able to enjoy life comfortably. He is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped—ready for his fresh start.   This sweet boy has been working hard behind the scenes, too. He’s learned that his crate is a safe, cozy space just for him, and he’s beginning to understand harnesses, leashes, and the big, exciting world outside. While he’s still gaining confidence, his progress has been nothing short of inspiring. You can see how much he wants to be brave.   At home, Tubby’s true personality begins to shine. His absolute favorite place? Right next to you on the couch. Once he feels safe, he melts into the moment—quietly affectionate, deeply loyal, and oh-so-loving. Those peaceful snuggle sessions are where Tubby’s heart really opens up.   Because he forms such strong bonds, Tubby would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time to offer reassurance and companionship. He’s still learning that the world is safe, and he’ll need a patient, kindhearted person who understands that love—and trust—take time. But make no mistake: Tubby is worth it. The person who welcomes him home won’t just be adopting a dog—they’ll be witnessing a beautiful transformation. And in return, Tubby will give a lifetime of quiet devotion, gentle companionship, and unconditional love.    Ready to give Tubby the life he’s always deserved?Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to learn more or apply to adopt.   Tubby is ready to travel and can easily catch a ride on the transport van any weekend—straight into the arms of his forever family.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 5, 2026, 9:29 pm

Story
Meet Sassafras (Sassy Girl is more accurate) our tiny but mighty girl! This 8-week-old Chihuahua mix pup may be pint-sized, but she’s packed with personality. With her adorable black and tan coat and the sweetest little white-tipped paws, she’s as cute as they come—and she knows it. Found at a rural Tennessee hardware store in a cardboard box, being given away by an elderly man whose dog had puppies, our Critter Cavalry foster mom couldn't leave them there to be handed out like trinkets.  These were little lives that needed the best homes with people who have the best intentions and love to give.  So home she came with 3 Chihuahua puppies who are all identical in size and color.  Two boys and one little Sassy Girl!  At just 4 pounds and 8 weeks old, don’t let her small size fool you—this fearless pup is full of confidence and curiosity. She’s always ready to explore, play, and take on the world like she’s ten times her size. Destined to be 15-18 pounds when fully grown, she’s constantly bouncing around with excitement or snuggling up after an adventure.  Sassy Girl brings big energy and even bigger charm wherever she goes. She wears her harness like a pro and is already working on leash walking and basic manners to help her grow into the very best girl. With her eagerness to learn and brave spirit, she’s sure to thrive in a loving home that will continue guiding her along the way.   If you’re looking for a bold, spunky companion with a heart as big as her personality, this little lady might just be your perfect match!   Ready April 17th for adoption.  If you are interested please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com        PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 5, 2026, 9:29 pm
