Story
Ladies, here is the man for you... he prefers women over the male species and is a typical chihuahua who is loyal to his person. He is good with dogs his size. He is around 10 years old and needs a loving home for his senior years. If you understand those sweet chi personalities and think Bo might be your man, please read on. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
Meet Kelvin Gemstone! At 9 lbs he is a little man with a big personality and an even bigger overbite. Kelvin is 7 years old, but you would never know it the way he can zoom around. He loves to lay with his people and fur siblings on the couch when he isn’t being a little jumping bean. He came to us with his two siblings after their owner passed away and has gained so much confidence since his first day in his foster home, and will only gain more in his forever home. Kelvin is potty trained on a good schedule, crate trained, and does great on walks and car rides, making him the perfect travel companion. He gets along with other dogs and played in the small dog play group at the shelter previous to foster life. He is by far the most outgoing of the group and was the first to befriend the two resident dogs in the household. He has thrived on staycations without his siblings, so we know that he will succeed in a home without his siblings but would prefer that he have another small dog in the home to keep him company and help keep the confidence he’s built up. As of early December, Kelvin is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. He will need to continue to refrain from heavy exercise in the next couple of weeks - which he doesn’t seem to mind based on his relaxed demeanor! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption

Story
Meet Jesse Gemstone! This 25 lb hunk of love is truly a gem of a dog. Jesse is about 5 years old and can best be described as a happy-go-lucky guy who loves to be loved—especially by the women in his life. He came to us with his two siblings after their owner passed away, and since arriving in foster care he has made wonderful progress and continues to gain confidence every day. Jesse is potty trained on a good schedule, crate trained, and does great on walks and car rides. He gets along well with other dogs and previously enjoyed playing in the small dog play group at the shelter. He has also thrived during staycations in other foster homes away from his siblings, showing that he would be perfectly happy as either a second dog or an only dog. Jesse tends to feel more comfortable around women and may growl when unfamiliar men first enter the room. He is not aggressive and warms up with time, patience, and calm introductions. With a loving, understanding home that lets him build trust at his own pace, Jesse will continue to blossom into the amazing companion we know he can be. As of early December, Jesse is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. He will need to continue to refrain from heavy exercise in the next couple of weeks - which he doesn’t seem to mind based on his relaxed demeanor! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html
