Story
Ruby - Chihuahua Mix - Female - 8.5 Years - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Ruby: Ruby and her sister Pearl are adorable Chihuahua mix girls who have been returned to us  as their owner became very ill and unable to care for them. Ruby is more of a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix (as opposed to Pearl, who is has more Italian Greyhound in her = one has short legs, one has long legs...) Ruby is moderately active and curious and quite friendly and outgoing, they  both love to meet new people. They do well with other dogs after proper introduction, we have not observed them around cats though. They are house and crate trained and are still getting the hang of that leash-walking business, but both are smart and learn quickly.  Ruby tends to be a bit more snuggly than her sister.. We have only observed them around older kids, so a family with middle school kids or older would likely be fine. As they have spend most of their time together, we assumed they were a bonded pair - that cannot be split up, but a trial separation (Ruby went to another foster she already knew, with familiar-to-her dogs) proved that they are not bonded but do need one or more dogs to keep company. Both dogs are doing very well separated, but with other dogs. Both dogs however NEED a very securely fenced in yard as they are Houdini's. Ruby and Pearl will find the smallest weakness in your fence and take very little time to dig our or under a fence with soft soil underneath. They are also quite "slippery" at the front door, so a home with small children will increase their escape success. Ruby has light sensitive eyes that cause her to squint outside, medical causes have been ruled out, but it doesn't make for the prettiest photos taken outside. So, Ruby is looking for a moderately active home, preferably together with her sister, but at minimum with another dog of similar size and temperament. She is more of a parallel companion. Ruby can handle regular working hours if she get enough attention around those hours. She MUST have a very secure fence and preferably a gated front door to keep her safe. Ruby has her own Amazon Wish List for items that would make her stay in her foster home better: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/DPM3DGATVU22?ref_=wl_share ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***

Story
Pearl - Chihuahua mix - Female - 8.5 Years - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Pearl:  Ruby and Pearl were returned to us due to no fault of their own - or their owner, for that matter, the Owner became terminally ill and could no longer care for them, so they came back to us. Pearl is a Chihuahua/probably Italian Greyhound mix and is about 8.5 years old and sweet and active and cuddly. As they have spend practically all of their lives together, we assumed that they were a "bonded pair", but not a lot of families are able to take in two dogs at a time, so we decided to test if they are truly bonded: we placed Pearl into another foster home - one that she had stayed in before with people and dogs she was already familiar with and she is thriving! Pearl has not missed a beat integrating with her new pack, loves her people, no changes in appetite or behavior, so we think its safe to say they are not a bonded pair. She does seek out the company of her people and other dogs to play with. Pearl is active and curious and quite friendly and outgoing, she loves to meet new people. Both Ruby and Pearl do well with other dogs after proper introduction, we have not observed them around cats though. They are house and crate trained and walk pretty well on leash, both are smart and learn quickly. Pearl is a little more confident than her sister, and likes to play with other dogs, Ruby tends to be a bit more snuggly. We have only observed them around older kids, so a family with middle school kids or older would likely be fine. Both Pearl and Ruby are Houdini's! They are exceptional at spotting weak spots in your fencing and making an escape, so a very securely fenced in yard is required. Pearl is also pretty "slippery" at the door, so extra caution when opening the front door is necessary. Pearl  is looking for a moderately active home, preferably together with her sister, but at minimum with another dog of similar size for her to play with. Pearl can handle regular working hours,  as long as she gets adequate attention around those time. Pearl now has her own personal Amazon Wish List: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/37OCSENHYAX1C?ref_=wl_share ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
Katie - Chihuahua Mix - Female - 1 Year - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Katie: this 1-year-old little firecracker has never met a stranger or a toy she didn't like. Katie came to us as a stray and has blended well into her foster familie's multi-dog household. She likes playing with the other dogs, doesn't miss many meals or treats, always one of the first to meet visitors. Yes, like a typical Chihuahua, she is vocal to ensure she is getting the attention she decides she deserves at any given time. She settles beautifully once held or she's on your Lap, that is her happy place. She loves soft toys and playing tug-of-war with the other dogs, she also loves chewing on Nyla bones - so far no inappropriate items have been chewed. She walks pretty nicely on leash and is a little nervous riding in a car, but settles pretty quickly. She is working on housetraining and is pee-pad trained in the mean time. She is fine with the resident cats, even sharing a Lap for snuggle time. She is not yet a fan of being crated and voices her opinion rather loudly, she sleeps loose in the house without being destructive. Katie is looking for a home with another dog for her to play with and preferably with someone home a lot, as she is still learning housetraining. She LOVES attention, loves sitting on a Lap, likes being held.  ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
Mae is a brindle chihuahua mix who has never gotten the memo that she's only eight pounds. This pint-sized athlete runs, jumps, and plays with dogs of all sizes—from tiny terriers to Great Danes—completely oblivious to the fact that she's the smallest one in the pack. When she's not showing off her athletic prowess, Mae is the ultimate cuddler. She burrows under the covers at bedtime, claiming her favorite spot at the foot of the bed or curled up on her owners' chests. On the couch, she's a professional lap-warmer who believes personal space is just a suggestion.Mae keeps herself entertained like a pro, turning leaves, sticks, and rocks into her own DIY toy collection. As the self-appointed household floor monitor, she's highly treat-motivated and always ready to clean up dropped food with lightning speed. This makes training effective—when she's not being stubborn about commands like sit, kennel, outside, and inside. Her small size means she needs supervision outdoors (hawks and owls don't care how brave she is), and she'll bark when strangers approach. But Mae warms up quickly, transforming from cautious guardian to best friend in seconds flat.

Story
🐾 Meet Dug — our neurospicy little nugget with a whole lotta heart and a serious case of happy feet! 💃At just 9 months old, Dug is a chiweenie with some mysterious neurological quirks that make him extra special — and extra lovable. He’s too busy prancing through life like he’s starring in his own musical. This wiggly wonder needs to be near his person at all times (separation anxiety is real, y’all), and he’ll give you puppy dog eyes that say: “Where you go, I go.” Whether it’s snuggle time, nap time, or emotional support bathroom trips, Dug is your ride-or-die.He may be special needs, but he’s got superhero levels of determination — and he’s not letting anything slow him down.
