Story
Single, balding, middle aged, semi-retired, distinguished gentleman, seeking companionship: The name is Maxwell. My friends call me Max. Sometimes, they also call me an asshole. I'm looking for love again. Hopefully it still exists at my age. I'm 8 years old. Short, 18 pounds. I'm also a little bald but my skin matches my hair so your friends won't notice. It's the same concept as men who spray canned hair color on their bald spots. I'm Divorced. The last woman who loved me fled the country. My passport was no good so I couldn't go. Kinda sad. I do miss her. I'm in temporary housing so it's a real bonus if you have a pad where we can play house. I don't really like young children but I guess I could tolerate it for hours if you have visitors. I enjoy naps in the recliner and my favorite shows are British comedy and murder mysteries. I know my physical description doesn't sound great, but I'm not looking for Miss America or Mr. Olympia either. (btw, I go both ways) A good-looking companion is a bonus, but at this point it's not a requirement for me. I have a soft side and I do enjoy cuddling and taking long walks. I have my moments too. I can be grouchy and sometimes I can lash out but I'm working on that! Nobody is perfect. I'm sure you're not either, right? I'm opinionated and I don't want a lot of friends. I'd prefer to be the only fur fella so I can have all of your attention. I'm a GREAT listener as I don't have much to say. Poor your cocktail and tell me your life story. I can listen for hours. If you've gotten this far and didn't stop reading, then I feel like I might have a chance with you. The real deal details: Maxwell came to us when his owner had to move overseas and couldn't take him with her. He lived with her all 8 years of his life. He smart and would be a nice companion dog for the right adopter. He doesn't enjoy the company of young kids. Maxwell really loves his foster family, but he will act out if he is made to feel uncomfortable. He gets nervous if he thinks someone is going to do something to him that he doesn't like. He's a nipper when he feels unsafe. He will need an adopter that understand "small dog" attitude. This little guy still has a lot of love & life to give to some lucky adopter. He is housetrained and VERY easy going! He ignores the cats in his foster home. Maxwell is up to date on his vaccines, microchipped and neutered. ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from Canine and Kitties Rescue*** The adoption fee for this dog is $375.00, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal. **Please visit www.caninesandkittiesrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.

Story
Max is a happy little lovebug! He bonded quickly with his foster mom and follows her around the house. He is a lap dog and loves to snuggle and get belly rubs, though he is not too needy and is also content to just be near his foster mom. He sleeps curled up under the covers in bed at night.Max is curious and loves walks and exploring and sniffing outside. He would love to be the only dog in the home but could be okay sharing a home with the right dog. Thank you for your interest in Max! Story
Biscuit's foster shared this about him: 'He is totally house trained. He goes to the door and whines if he wants to go potty. He also does not chew on anything or act aggressively with my three small older dogs. I leave him loose in the house when I need to leave for a few hours, and everything is fine when I return home. He will howl and whine for a few minutes if you leave him alone in a room and he can't follow you. He likes to sit in your lap or in a dog bed during the day. At night, he wants to sleep in your bed. You have to lift him on and off of the bed, he is overweight, and he needs assistance. He does not like crates. He loves to go on walks, and he wags his tail and does not bark if he sees another person walking their dog. He has a great personality, and he will suddenly do zoomies around the house and play with a soft dog toy, but that only lasts for a minute. It is very comical when it happens. I think he would do best in a home where someone is home for most of the day. He rides well in a car. Biscuit is in the process of losing weight. He is looking for someone in need of a chunky BFF.' This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 15 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Marz does well in playgroups at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center. He is not really a hard player and prefers to coexist rather than engage in the rough and tumble. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not currently know how he are with cats. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Marz does fine with kids but recommended with older kids KNOWN COMMANDS: Sit, stay, sits for leash and food KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Marz settles nicely in his crate at the center. KNOWN LIKES: Affection and walks KNOWN DISLIKES: Loud noises and fast movements ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Marz is a great companion dog. He loves all of the family members and is a great snuggler when on the couch in the evening. . He definitely loves being around people and is very loyal and protective to those with whom he has bonded. He is very quiet in the house, only barking when people come to the door or return home. He is the best at giving a warm welcome when you come home. He is very excited to see us and shows us with affection and running circles around us. He is crate trained and sleeps through the night. He is housebroken and paper trained. In the world of four-legged friendships, Marz is doing well in his foster home. Although he's not one for rough and tumble play, Marz prefers to coexist peacefully with his canine companions, spreading joy and happiness wherever he goes. While his interactions with cats remain a mystery, Marz's friendly demeanor suggests that he may adapt well to feline friends with proper introductions and guidance. Marz currenlty lives with two kids and does well. However, he is an escape artist so probably a home with really young ones would be a challenge trying to keep from escaping. He would benefit from having a fenced back yard to play in. He is very agile and can jump and climb and run fast. When it comes to housebreaking and crating, Marz is a model of calm and poise, settling nicely in his crate. Whether it's cuddling up for some affection or enjoying the company of his furry friends, Marz finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. Marz loves other dogs in the yard or in the home, however, he tends to get excited or scared when on leash and will bark at them at people...only when on a leash. He gets startled by loud noises and quick movement too. Marz is a lovable and affectionate companion who is sure to steal your heart with his gentle demeanor and sweet personality. With patience and understanding, he's ready to blossom into the perfect furry friend for a lucky family willing to open their hearts to him. If you're seeking a loyal and loving companion to join your home, look no further than Marz - he's waiting to become your steadfast companion for life.
