Story
Female, ~10 weeks old, ~4 lbs. Approximate Age: ~10 weeks old   Approximate Weight/Size:    Small   Good with: Dogs   Not tested with: Cats, Kids   Hi, I'm Lilo! I'm a sweet Chi mix a born on September 13th as a single pup to a black 12lb Cheweenie mix - my father is unknown. I love all other dogs and cats, and since I'm an only pup, playing with other size appropriate, friendly dogs is crucial for my socialization skills. I would love to live in a home with another small, friendly and puppy-tolerant dog under 25lbs. I love to cuddle with my dog friends.   Due to my small size, I would do best in a home with children over the age of 10 or well behaved children who will be careful with me. I currently sleep through the night and I'm working on my house training with a puppy pad - although I know to go outside when you take me out. I'm very smart and well behaved!   A few things to consider before applying to adopt a puppy: - Puppies require a lot of upfront work including both obedience and house training. - Puppies cannot be left home alone for long periods while they are young. - You might need to "puppy-proof" your home before bringing one home.     Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrd r My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Overall wellness exam Current on all core vaccines (including DHPP & rabies) Microchip Current on flea & tick and heartworm preventatives   Interested in adopting a rescue dog? Story
Male, ~3 years old, ~12 lbs. Approximate Age: ~3 years old   Approximate Weight/Size: Small   Good with: Dogs, Kids over 10   Not tested with: Cats   My name is Echo and they claim I'm a chihuahua mix... and who am I to dispute it! I am a 3 year old male and weigh 12 lbs (dripping wet).  I came in as a stray and so I can be on the shy and nervous side when meeting new people (and who wouldn't be with what I've been through!). Since I'm am shy with strangers and need some time to warm up... I wouldn't mind getting some treats and presents too! Even though I may take a little time to warm up, once I trust you and get comfortable, I bond hard and really love being with my person all the time.   I don't like the city life and prefer being away from that environment where it's a bit quieter. It would be great if I could have a backyard that I could call my own (I hope that's not asking too much!). Because I'm not a fan of crowds or city life, I don't do well at adoption events, so I hope you'll give me a chance and be willing to meet me somewhere that I'm more comfortable and spend some time with me.    I am good with other dogs and love being around other pups of all sizes and ages. Now cats could be a different story since I haven't been tested with them yet. The real important stuff here includes that I'm crate trained, potty trained, food motivated, housetrained, and low energy level. I will need some work gaining confidence and trust with my new people, but if you're willing to spend time with me, I'd really appreciate it.  I could be a diamond in the ruff!  I'll return the favor with how cute and sweet I am!   Thanks for checking me out. Good things can come in small packages.  Your pal. Echo      Adoption Application: http://bit.ly/adoptrdr My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Story
Please contact Chelsea Powell (chelseap@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweeter than her name! BROWN SUGAR NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Brown Sugar         Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of November 2023         SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  11.2 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids but she can be tested. Due to her breed mix and small size, she may not go to a home with children under the age of 12.    Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here.   Special adoption considerations: Due to her breed mix and small size, she may not go to a home with children under the age of 12. Additionally, when Brown Sugar arrived in the shelter, she was scared and shut down. However, she has been making great strides. We think Brown Sugar would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to continue to build confidence. Brown Sugar is Looking For:  Her forever family! This sweetie is pretty young and hasn't seen nearly enough of life yet. She'd love to trot through it with confidence, but right now she's uncertain about new places and experiences. Extra patient and loving adopters who help show her the world at her pace are high on her wish list, as are snuggles and cuddles. But what she wants most of all is to know she's safe and loved and under her own roof for all her days.  What do you say? Can you see yourself chilling with her curled up on you after a fun day together? At your feet while you work? Trotting alongside you on your outings? What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has arrived in the DC are aand spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small sweetie seeking safety and love! OREGANO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Oregano     Best Guess for Breed:  Chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age: 6 years as of November 2023       SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:   10 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. Due to his breed mix and small size, he may not go to a home with children under the age of 12   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride up[ here after completing heartworm treatment!   Special adoption considerations: Oregano is a truly Lucky Dog. Although he has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Due to his breed mix and small size, he may not go to a home with children under the age of 12.   *Note: The photos show cloudiness in one eye. That is due to scarring and his vision is not impaired.    Oregano is Looking For:  His forever home! This small sweetie ended up in the shelter through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans for sniffy walks (down by their ankles!) and world exploration. Snuggles and cuddles are way high on his wish list, as are quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But what he wants most of all is to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days - small dogs can live a long time and he's got a lot of good days ahead of him!   In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is Oregano the one you see warming your lap as we go into the winter months?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has arrived in the DC are aand spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
