Story
Honey came from a high kill shelter in 2024 & was adopted by a family who had 2 kids after adopting her. She didn't adjust well to having kids in the house, & was surrendered to us to be fostered temporarily. While she's great in our home, she isn't doing well w/ living in a high traffic area w/ constant noise outside & not having a place to go to the bathroom or on walks without seeing other people + dogs.She's sweet w/ her people, but takes time to adjust to new people & build trust. She has a tendency to growl, bark, & occasionally lunge at new humans in her space, but she has been okay as long as new people give her a very slow introduction. It's best if Honey isn’t brought into other homes with other people—that seems to scare her. On leash, Honey doesn't do well w/ people running past her, & barks/jumps at other dogs.She's an incredibly loving dog who'd do GREAT in a quiet home w/ someone who works from home often, no kids, & very few visitors. She loves snuggles under blankets.

We have a confession to make… We’re not exactly Chihuahua people 😬 Little dogs have just never really been our thing. Unfortunately, these guys did NOT get the memo. They’re funny. They’re sweet. They’re ridiculously cool. And against our better judgment, we actually really like them. So if you’ve ever said, “I’m not really a Chihuahua person…” Yeah. Neither were we. Come meet them. And if you ARE a Chihuahua person, you don't stand a chance. These dogs will be your kryptonite. Peewee, male. 2 years old. 8-10 pounds. Has done great with the other small dogs and with 3 polite large dogs. Gets picked up by kids. Crated during day. CAN climb fences, needs to be on a leash outside. Listens, comes to you when called. Snuggly. House trained, uses doggy door (with supervision due to fence climbing). Isn't afraid of goats or horses...

Story
Haru is a 5-year-old Cattle Dog/Chihuahua mix weighing about 30 pounds, and he's a very sweet, easygoing guy. Calm and affectionate, he likes staying close to his person and is perfectly happy lounging on the couch, stretching out on his bed, or curling up in bed with you. And if the belly rub stops before he's ready, he'll give you a gentle paw to let you know. Haru is also a pretty easy companion around the house. He appears to be potty trained, does well in his crate (although he'll whine a little because he'd rather be with you), and is great in the car. He's polite when taking treats and is a little timid around his dinner. He enjoys toys, especially small stuffies that he likes to carry around in his mouth. He's doing well on walks and is a leisurely walking buddy who likes to take his time sniffing and exploring. He knows sit and paw, responds to his name, and seems to know down. He's still getting comfortable with some new experiences—he was a little nervous on trips to PetSmart and Home Depot—so his foster is continuing to help him build confidence at his own pace. Haru was housed with another smaller dog before coming into foster care, but he has not yet been introduced to dogs in his foster home, so we're still getting to know him in that regard. If you're looking for a calm, affectionate companion who would be happy to spend his days hanging out with you, taking leisurely walks, carrying around a favorite stuffy, and getting plenty of belly rubs, Haru might be just the guy you're looking for.
