Meet Lil Bit! Lil Bit is a 6-year-old, 16-pound Dachshund Chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into a little body. She is a gentle, devoted companion who would love nothing more than to be your favorite little shadow. Lil Bit bonds closely with her people. She loves being petted, following you around, and settling beside you. She is also beginning to show a little more independence and is happy to relax on her own bed when you're busy. She enjoys her walks, eats and drinks well, and has a playful side that comes out with her doggy friend. She is a wonderfully easy companion in many ways. Lil Bit walks nicely on leash, is quiet in the home, and is not destructive. She has done beautifully around other dogs and has even enjoyed cozying up with her foster dog friend. At adoption events, she handled crowds, noise, and new people calmly. House training is still a work in progress and she is doing so well and sometimes uses a puppy pad indoors, even after a walk. Her foster family is continuing to work patiently with her on this routine. Lil Bit is affectionate without being demanding. She loves attention but is learning that she doesn't need to be touching her person every minute of the day. She is happiest with gentle affection, a comfortable bed, a nice walk, and her people nearby. She would do best in a calm home with someone who appreciates a loyal little companion and is willing to continue her house training. Older, respectful children would be a better fit than young toddlers. Lil Bit isn't looking for a busy, complicated life. She wants a person to love, a cozy place to nap, and someone who will appreciate her wonderfully quirky personality. Give her those things, and you'll have a devoted little companion who will happily stay by your side.

Hello! I'm coming to OPH on 8/19. Please check back soon for updates on my personality, and to see adorable new photos. I'm searching for... * someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hrs, at least not until I am older. The older I am the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quick and when I'm bored I could get in trouble. * I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun! * I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever! I'm making my way north in search of my new family. Is that with you?
