Her vaccination is up-to-date and she is recently graduated from beginner class (PETSMART) Need fenced yard. Dove's owner sadly needs to rehome her due to financial hardship and busy schedule. Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet boy ISO fresh start and love! TOBY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Toby       Best Guess for Breed: Poodle mix Best Guess for Age:   3 years as of February 2025      Gender: Male Approximate Weight:  53 lbs Gets Along With: He gets along with other dogs. We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them.  Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here after completing heartworm treatment.  Special Adoption Considerations: Toby is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Toby is Looking For: His forever family! This sweetie landed in the shelter through no fault of his own and he's eager to once again have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed sound good to him too. And Toby was heavily matted - mats are painful!! - when he arrived, and had to be shaved down completely. That coat is high maintenance, requiring daily brushing and regular professional grooming. He wants humans who understand that mats hurt and take good care of his coat.  In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and all the love and loyalty in him. What do you say? Is this sweetie the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.  Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life! Story
** Current Location: in a private facility in South Korea ** • Rescue Story : A dog with its eyes completely missing, a dog whose body was entirely blackened, a dog with rotting genitals... We struggle to find the words to describe the horrors we witnessed. Like hamsters on a wheel, the dogs cried out for help. There were every kind of dog here, some that were once fashionable and others currently in demand. The once trendy dogs were dying in the corner, while those now popular were crying out for salvation with every part of their body. This place had been illegally breeding and abusing animals for 25 years. From this hell, the rescue team saved Mina. • Personality: Loves people, lap dog, loves to lounge in comfy spots She enjoys being close to people and will often walk over to sit on their laps for cuddles and relaxation. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Mina gets along well with other dogs but has an independent personality, so she may become irritated with overly persistent or clingy dogs. Mina enjoys being pampered by people and tends to rely more on humans than on dog companions, so she would be happier in a home without other dogs. -Adults/Kids: Mina loves everyone! • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: She has not yet had a proper walk. Once her adoption is confirmed, the rescue team will provide her with as much walking training as possible, but the adopter will need to continue practicing walking with her. • Housetrained: She is currently using indoor pads with an 80% accuracy rate. Once her adoption is confirmed, the team will continue pad training, though the adopter will need to continue training with her as well. • Separation Anxiety: None at the current facility • Barker or Quiet: No barking • Food Allergies: None • Likes & Dislikes: Likes treats, people, petting, and napping in a comfortable place! / Not a fan of other dogs being overly clingy. • Health: Mina has undergone surgery on both patellas. She has sensitive skin that tends to become dry and flaky, so she needs extra care for moisturizing. Mina has very few teeth, so she struggles to eat hard food or treats. She has an ulcer in her left eye and is currently undergoing medication (will relay treatment info to the adopting family!). Regular monitoring and treatment will be required in the future. Also, given that the dog was rescued from a puppy mill, we believed she was likely pregnant in the past. [Ophthalmologist Notes] - Left Eye: Dry eye with low tear production, swelling, and a cloudy cornea due to past injury (currently no active ulcer, but there is swelling and vascular changes). - Right Eye: Similar to the left, with an ulcer from a past injury, and pain. Tear production is higher but abnormal, likely due to the pain. - Both eyes have swollen eyelids. Mina is being treated with antibiotics and steroids, with weekly rechecks. If there’s no improvement, immunosuppressive drops may be needed. - May need constant monitoring for: Tear production (wet or dry around eyes), Redness or irritation, Frequent blinking.

He enjoys gentle attention and quietly approaches people, waiting to be noticed. He’s not demanding but loves being held and cherished. Loco’s calm and gentle nature makes him a great companion for people of all ages. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Loco gets along well with other dogs but prefers his alone time when resting. He’s met a puppy before and tried to assert dominance, so caution should be taken when introducing him to younger dogs. He would do well with one other dog or as the only pet. -Adults/Kids: Loco is affectionate with everyone he meets. Loco’s calm and gentle nature makes him a great companion for people of all ages. • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: Loco has not yet had proper walks. Once his adoption is confirmed, the rescue team will provide him with as much walking training as possible, but the adopter will need to continue practicing walking with him. • Housetrained: Loco uses indoor pads but needs further training. He struggles with holding his bladder for longer potty breaks. Once his adoption is confirmed, the team will continue pad training, though the adopter will need to continue training with him as well. • Separation Anxiety: None • Barker or Quiet: Occasional barking at other dogs when he wants to play with them & occasional demand barking when he wants to get out of a crate • Food Allergies: None • Likes & Dislikes: Likes People, other dogs, treats, being pampered! / Not a fan of a too big group of dogs. • Health: Loco has recovered from patellar surgery on both knees. However, he has had elevated liver enzymes, so his liver function needs to be monitored.

This place had been illegally breeding and abusing animals for 25 years. From this hell, the rescue team saved Curi. • Personality: People-loving, energetic, affectionate Curi loves people and is not shy about seeking attention from anyone who approaches. If someone stops petting her, she might give them a disapproving look! Curi is energetic and affectionate, so she would thrive in an active home. She is still adjusting to her first happy experiences with people, and she is very eager to bond. • Affinity with -Cats: Not tested -Dogs: Curi gets along well with all dogs. Her bright energy seems to transfer to her dog friends, and she would adapt well in a home with a dog companion. Curi would do best in a home with a large enough space to run and play. -Adults/Kids: Curi loves all people! • Shedding: 1-2 (1-10 scale) • Walking Manners: Curi has just started leash training. She enjoys running freely, so she will need slow and patient walking training with her adopter. Once her adoption is confirmed, the rescue team will provide her with as much walking training as possible, but the adopter will need to continue practicing walking with her. • Housetrained: Curi is still in the process of potty training and requires pad training for indoor use. Once her adoption is confirmed, WEACT The Home will continue pad training, though the adopter will need to continue training with her as well. • Separation Anxiety: Curi has strong attachments to people and may become anxious when left alone. She will likely cry out and wait for her person to return. It is recommended to minimize the time Curi spends alone until she feels more settled. • Likes & Dislikes: Likes Toys, well-mannered dog friends, attention from people! • Health: Curi underwent patellar surgery on her left leg and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Also, given that the dog was rescued from a puppy mill, we believed she was likely pregnant in the past.
