Story
Ace loves to play catch, cuddles and getting belly rubs. When he is getting scratches and belly rubs he will kick like thumper and make cute satisfied grunting noises. He has been around bigger dogs and will play nonstop if he could. He is a very high energy dog and will get zoomies when excited. He knows basic commands such as sit, speak, and crate. When we say potty he knows it's time to go outside, sometimes he will sit and wait to eat and we will have to say "go eat". He is crate trained and potty trained but will have occasional accidents if not taken out in a timely manner. He does tinkle when he gets scratches or pets, if not taken out before getting pets (we take him out as often because of this). He has always been very anxious and skittish. He likes to be outside but the minute he hears loud noises he will try to run back home. He is not the best walker with a collar, he will choke so we use a harness.. He has never shown any aggression towards others. He is also very vocal.

Story
How this pet arrived: Maximillion was brought in by a community member on February 4, 2026.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Maximillium! Maximillium came to us as a stray and was initially shy and cautious while he adjusted to his new surroundings. With some time and patience, his playful personality has started to shine! This fun guy loves toys-especially balls-and will happily bounce around chasing them. He enjoys exploring on walks, sniffing all the interesting smells and showing off his wiggly, playful energy once he's feeling comfortable. Maximillium needs time to warm up to new people and does best when he's given space to approach on his own terms. A calm home with patient adopters who will let him settle in at his own pace will help him feel confident and comfortable. Maximillium is required to be in a home with children 12 years and older and all members of the household must be present for the meet-and-greet so he can say hello to everyone. If you already have a dog at home, Maximillium will need to meet them here at our campus to make sure they'll be pawsome roommates. If you're looking for a playful pup and ready to give a shy guy the time he needs to blossom, Maximillium might be your guy!Shy/Fearful Dog: Maximillion requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them.At SDHS:Maximillion has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Red Weight: 32.6 Age: 10yrs 1mths 3wks

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sweet Gracie is still waiting… and she truly deserves her chance at a beautiful, loving home. We are looking for a home in San Diego County or surrounding areas for this incredibly gentle soul — a place where she can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished. Gracie is the definition of sweet and mild-mannered. She has such a calm, loving presence and simply wants to be close to her people. She does wonderfully with adults, older respectful children, and other friendly dogs her size. Watching her play with her toys is enough to melt your heart… it’s like she’s grateful for every little moment of happiness she gets. She is house trained and potty trained, enjoys her car rides, and loves going on walks. While she may need a little guidance on leash manners, she is eager to please and so easy to love. Gracie doesn’t need much — just kindness, patience, and a safe place to finally call her own. And in return, she will give you the most loyal, gentle love. Gracie, is healthy, had bloodwork done, a full dental cleaning, 3 teeth extracted, fully vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Please help us give Gracie the life she deserves. Story
Hello all, my former husband I adopted Ducky from the shelter about 4 years ago, with some known issues of severe separation anxiety. He used to work remotely and so we felt that any issues he had we would be able to overcome, as well as hoping that our two other dogs at home would help with his situation. We are unfortunately going through a divorce and as I work 12 hour shifts outside of the home feel I am unable to provide Ducky with the care and companionship he needs. I did attempt some boarding school training and medications, but nothing seems to really have helped except for having his human around. He is a very sweet dog, loves people, and is fairly obsessed with toys. He is always excited to follow his human around and when the human in question is still, he will curl up right next to them and take a nap. He loves his greenie teething treats and to have his toys thrown, even though sometimes he loses track of them, or forgets to bring them back.

Story
Liam is a 6-year-old pup weighing approximately 22 pounds who has recently endured a heartbreaking loss after his owner passed away. He found himself in a high-kill shelter, but thankfully, we were able to bring him to safety. Right now, Liam is understandably confused and a bit scared as he adjusts to all the sudden changes in his life. He would truly benefit from a calm, loving foster home where he can decompress, feel secure, and begin to rebuild trust. A home with a yard would be ideal, along with someone who is home most of the time to provide the comfort, consistency, and reassurance he needs. Despite his uncertainty, Liam is a very sweet dog at heart. With patience, kindness, and understanding, his true personality is sure to shine. Given time and love, he has all the potential to become a devoted and wonderful companion. If you have a quiet home and an open heart, fostering or adopting Liam could make all the difference in helping him heal—and you may just gain a loyal friend for life. If you’re interested in adopting Liam, please complete an application on our website: www.greatpets.org. His adoption includes a vet exam, blood work, vaccinations, grooming, fecal exam, microchip, and flea treatment.April 1, 2026, 12:14 pm
