Hello all, my former husband I adopted Ducky from the shelter about 4 years ago, with some known issues of severe separation anxiety. He used to work remotely and so we felt that any issues he had we would be able to overcome, as well as hoping that our two other dogs at home would help with his situation. We are unfortunately going through a divorce and as I work 12 hour shifts outside of the home feel I am unable to provide Ducky with the care and companionship he needs. I did attempt some boarding school training and medications, but nothing seems to really have helped except for having his human around. He is a very sweet dog, loves people, and is fairly obsessed with toys. He is always excited to follow his human around and when the human in question is still, he will curl up right next to them and take a nap. He loves his greenie teething treats and to have his toys thrown, even though sometimes he loses track of them, or forgets to bring them back.

He’s a sweet boy who loves cuddles, belly rubs, and soaking up the sun. While he enjoys being around people, he’s more of an independent guy when it comes to other dogs. Dewey does have some food-guarding behaviors, so he’s currently fed separately and we’re actively working with him on this. He did have a bite incident in a previous foster home, but he’s had no issues in his current placement. Because of this, we’re recommending a home without young children—dog-savvy older kids would be just fine. He’s not a big barker, is comfortable in a crate, and would do best with someone who understands his needs and can continue helping him build confidence. He is silly and very playful and he is also smart. He is honestly the best companion ever and sadly we are not able to give him the time he deserves due to personal reasons and having to work often.
