Story
Hey, it's me, Snooper! Are you my human? I REALLY love riding in the car and my people. I promise to patrol your yard and keep all the critters at bay. I can be your partner for playing fetch and for a good walk. When it's time for cuddles, I'll paw your hand to make sure I get a pet or two in while I snooze next to you on the couch. These are some of my best photos, before I had to have one of my eyes removed, now I'm a winker! I've been in foster care for over 2 years and would love to find my furever to spend my remaining years with.Interested in adoption? Please read the following: we have an application process, which can be found on our website at www.austincockerrescue.org. We do not adopt outside the state of Texas. You must have an approved application to set up a meeting with a dog--this is done at the foster's discretion. If you have questions regarding the adoption process or a specific dog, please email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org. Phone calls about specific dogs will not be answered, as email is our preferred method of communication. Thank you for your interest!

Story
living with Rudy IS an adventure. Not only is he a total goofball, he's like what would happen if a monkey got ahold of too many energy drinks. But imagine the joy of living a life like Rudy's where everything in the world is a toy (until foster mommy takes it away). His only mood is Happy. He loves everything and everyone. Does he ever just.. chill out? Look, Rudy is only about a year old, he's got a long life ahead of him (as long as he stays out of medicine cabinets) and we are sure that at some point in his future, he will slow down. Today? is probably not that day. That being said, he will happily hang out with you, just laying at your feet. He would just like to be gnawing on a chewie while he does that. Keeping him busy and engaged is the key--he thrives with attention and exercise and he is learning SO much. It helps that he's super food motivated and it takes him only about a minute to pick up a new trick. Rudy would thrive in an active home who would appreciate his incredibly playful spirit. Leif. If you know anything about CSRA, you know that we ADORE a pre-sugared face! We believe that a dog deserves a great home, regardless of their age, when they find themselves looking for one. And pssst, here's a secret: older dogs often make AMAZING companions. At 10, Leif has gotten over that whippersnapper stage and is well-settled into being happy to just hang out--he's not overly affectionate, but he wants to know where you are so he can find a dog bed close by. He does great with other older, low-key dogs. And best of all, you can see this goofy grin every morning.Interested in adoption? Story
Calypso is a 5-year-old beauty who has some special needs--both physical and behavioral. We'll explain. The physical part is somewhat simple--she has epilepsy. She is now on daily medication, which isn't super expensive, and it's pretty much under control. The behavioral aspect, well... Here's what we know: Calypso requires a very specific home. This pretty girl is extremely skittish and shy. Children are a no-no for her, even savvy kids. Let's face it, kids can be fast and loud and up in your grill, and it just freaks her out. She doesn't care for a noisy home either. She's a girl who needs time to warm up, and even then, she will let you know what she deems an appropriate touch and what she considers unacceptable. Now that she has been with us for a while, she has finally learned to trust her foster family. Heck, she's even opened up and comfortable enough to play fetch. But we know that Calypso will never be a social butterfly. She is not one of those dogs that are suitable for a busy home or novice owners. She's not a dog you could take out in public to a bar or restaurant or social gatherings. She says, "NO THANKS to all of that. She's a lovely companion for someone who understands that some dogs love in different ways. She will need a compassionate veterinarian and grooming staff who understand the importance of trust and patience. And a special person who can provide a quiet home and who will understand when she needs a safe space to retreat to when there may be visitors. Don't get us wrong, she likes her person and will happily sit beside you, she just has a bit of Greta Garbo in her: "She wants to be alone." We know that all of this may sound like a lot, but if we've learned anything in our 24 years of doing this, there's someone out there for whom she would be a perfect fit. It may take us a while to find that person, but we're pretty sure they're out there. If this sounds like you, the next step is to have an approved application (which can be found on our website). Story
Meet Tofu! We think the name kind of suits him... as he's a bit of an acquired taste. While he definitely ranks high on the cute factor, he struggles in other areas. Like keeping his tongue in his mouth, complete control over his back legs, and limited vision departments. It's believed that he inherited these traits, but there's no definitive test to confirm this. We know he's just a youngster, and none of that seems to be an obstacle to playing or getting his zoomies. Tofu would LOVE to have someone play tug-of-war with him, but he's also happy to just lie on your feet (hope you weren't going anywhere). He loves to explore the toy box, but has gotten a little confused as to why the throw pillows are off-limits. I mean, the stuffing does need to be rescued, no?? Tofu is a sweetheart and just wants to be loved on and be next to his human.Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application, which can be found on our website. Story
Are you looking for a lapdog? Legend is here for you! He has a permanent wink from a recent left eye enucleation due to glaucoma, but it hasn’t affected his energy level. He navigates well with the help of his acute hearing and his ability to track motion. He would be a great only dog for someone who works from home or is home a lot.He does well with my rambunctious pack of 3 Cockers after a growly period of adjustment. My boys are very active, and now that he has learned my pack is no threat, he plays with them a little. It will probably take a minute for introductions to other dogs, but he will come around. He loves yak bones and toys, but he doesn’t shred them. I have never crated him because he is so well behaved. People, however, he loves them ALL - immediately and profusely. He has not been around cats to my knowledge. He is a great riding boy and loves to go with. He is a sweetheart at vet visits. He is 7 years old and weighs about 20 pounds with the face of a Cavalier Spaniel. He tracks me on a leash and loves being outdoors, especially in a grassy yard, where he can prance around, roll, or simply lie comfortably, sniffing the air.He is house-trained and quick at learning the ropes, eager to please, sits for treats and dinner - after a twirl. He is fine left at home when I’m out and thrilled when I come home. He loves company, so invite your friends to meet this sweet lover boy.Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application, which can be found on our website.
