Story
3 year old Tolliver has a lot of the classic cocker traits: loves toys--check, freckles for days--check, soft eyes--check, Fabio ears--check! But he's got an extra special talent: at heart, he's a journalist. Is there a slow squirrel walking through your front yard? Tolliver will let you know. Did someone leave a strange grocery bag on the counter that wasn't there 20 minutes ago? He's here to give you the news. Expect a full report when the dryer both starts and ends. We are not sure how we got through life before all this knowledge. We certainly don't need a Ring camera to let us know when our packages arrive anymore--it's amazing. In addition to his star reporting talents, Tolliver is good at toy wrangling. Toy in his mouth at all times is his preferred state--he loves them all--kongs, tennis balls, krinkly stuffies. Mind you, he does not want to SHARE any of those with his foster mates, those are HIS toys (even when they're not his toys). The amount of tennis balls that have been saved from exile underneath the couch alone should garner this guy some type of award. He's affectionate and housetrained (best believe he will let you know when he's gotta go). Just an all around nice boy (ok, maybe a little selfish with the toys and food). He may not be perfect for shared walls, unless you have very understanding neighbors who appreciate the Daily Reports. Hey, it's me, Snooper! Are you my human? I REALLY love riding in the car and my people. I promise to patrol your yard and keep all the critters at bay. I can be your partner for playing fetch and for a good walk. When it's time for cuddles, I'll paw your hand to make sure I get a pet or two in while I snooze next to you on the couch. These are some of my best photos, before I had to have one of my eyes removed, now I'm a winker! I've been in foster care for over 2 years and would love to find my furever to spend my remaining years with.Interested in adoption? Please read the following: we have an application process, which can be found on our website at www.austincockerrescue.org. We do not adopt outside the state of Texas. You must have an approved application to set up a meeting with a dog--this is done at the foster's discretion. If you have questions regarding the adoption process or a specific dog, please email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org. Phone calls about specific dogs will not be answered, as email is our preferred method of communication. Thank you for your interest!

Leif. If you know anything about CSRA, you know that we ADORE a pre-sugared face! We believe that a dog deserves a great home, regardless of their age, when they find themselves looking for one. And pssst, here's a secret: older dogs often make AMAZING companions. At 10, Leif has gotten over that whippersnapper stage and is well-settled into being happy to just hang out--he's not overly affectionate, but he wants to know where you are so he can find a dog bed close by. He does great with other older, low-key dogs. And best of all, you can see this goofy grin every morning.Interested in adoption? Story
Debo is a ridiculous and we do mean RIDICULOUSly cute 3 year old boy who is still a puppy at heart. Debo has one mission in life: it's all about spending time with YOU—whether that’s snuggling up on the couch for a movie night (and yes, he’ll adorably react to jump scares!), lounging by your side as you read, or playing with his favorite toys at your feet. He just wants to be part of your daily life and will happily follow you around, making sure you always have a loyal friend close by. He loves to play .Debo is also house-trained, is great with other medium small dogs and loves to play with them but is also good at respecting boundaries of other animals. He sounds like a dreamboat, right? But here's where his living in a foster home has helped us learn his needs: Debo can get overstimulated in group social environments with strangers. He also is not comfortable around children. He has worked with a trainer and we feel confident to recommend that Debo needs an *ADULT ONLY* home with parents that are able to be patient while he adjusts and and continues the work of being comfortable in larger social situations. He is an enthusiastic learner and will need reinforcement of his newly learned skills. We want to make sure that Debo is set up for success so his furever family should be willing to continue to work with him.Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application which you can find on our website. Already approved applicants can email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org to let us know of your interest. Story
You know, sometimes when they're cute enough, we'll hand over the microphone and let them speak for themselves. So here is adorable & adoptable Cameron in his own words:Hi I’m Cameron! The first thing you should know about me is that I’m a really, really REALLY good boy. The hooman people are guessing that I’m around 4 years old. I’m learning the ropes of the foster house but would really like to find my forever home before I get too comfortable here. I’m usually pretty chill and just like to play ball with the foster Mom once in a while. I’m not supposed to play too hard because I have heartworms that need to get treated. The rescue people will help with that. I like to go for walks in the neighborhood but I’m still learning how that is supposed to work. I like to sniff everything and sometimes I pull too hard but I’m figuring it out. At night I sleep on a doggie bed close to my foster Mom but I think the big bed looks really comfortable. That Foster Mom lady says I’m a goofball because unlike other Cocker Spaniel’s I’m a really slow eater and she has to coax me to eat faster so my foster sister doesn’t steal my food. I love attention. Just say my name and I’m available to get petted. If my foster sister is getting petted, I tell her to move over so I can have a turn. Hmm, what else, I’m a big boy.... Did I tell you that I’m housetrained? Cameron is heartworm positive and will be treated at CSRA/SA expense at one of our vets. We're happy to discuss this process with approved applicants who are interested in adoption. The way to contact us is through EMAIL at woof@austincockerrescue.org Our adoptions require an approved application which you can find on our austincockerrescue.org website. We adopt to within the State of Texas and do not ship or transport dogs.

Story
Calypso is a 5-year-old beauty who has some special needs--both physical and behavioral. We'll explain. The physical part is somewhat simple--she has epilepsy. She is now on daily medication, which isn't super expensive, and it's pretty much under control. The behavioral aspect, well... Here's what we know: Calypso requires a very specific home. This pretty girl is extremely skittish and shy. Children are a no-no for her, even savvy kids. Let's face it, kids can be fast and loud and up in your grill, and it just freaks her out. She doesn't care for a noisy home either. She's a girl who needs time to warm up, and even then, she will let you know what she deems an appropriate touch and what she considers unacceptable. Now that she has been with us for a while, she has finally learned to trust her foster family. Heck, she's even opened up and comfortable enough to play fetch. But we know that Calypso will never be a social butterfly. She is not one of those dogs that are suitable for a busy home or novice owners. She's not a dog you could take out in public to a bar or restaurant or social gatherings. She says, "NO THANKS to all of that. She's a lovely companion for someone who understands that some dogs love in different ways. She will need a compassionate veterinarian and grooming staff who understand the importance of trust and patience. And a special person who can provide a quiet home and who will understand when she needs a safe space to retreat to when there may be visitors. Don't get us wrong, she likes her person and will happily sit beside you, she just has a bit of Greta Garbo in her: "She wants to be alone." We know that all of this may sound like a lot, but if we've learned anything in our 24 years of doing this, there's someone out there for whom she would be a perfect fit. It may take us a while to find that person, but we're pretty sure they're out there. If this sounds like you, the next step is to have an approved application (which can be found on our website).
