Story
Meet Koda ❤️ Koda is an 8-year-old red heeler mix who is incredibly smart, loyal, and looking for a very specific kind of home where he can truly thrive. Koda recently lost the only home he’s ever known because his family is growing and Koda has a tough time adjusting to the unpredictable nature of children. While that transition has been tough, he’s already starting to settle and show us who he really is. Each day, he’s becoming more relaxed and comfortable in foster care —but he will need a patient, committed adopter who understands that trust and learning a new routine takes time. The Basics • Potty trained & crate trained • Lived successfully with a small dog (mini dachshund) most of his life after a very slow and thoughtful introduction • He wants to be part of a “pack” Home Requirements Koda would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children (8+). He is not comfortable with young kids, especially if they are loud, unpredictable, or in his space. He will need slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, and at this time, would do best as the only dog or with a very experienced home willing to manage introductions carefully. No cats due to his prey drive. What He’s Working On Koda can be reactive on leash and in the yard, especially toward people and other dogs. He may lunge, bark, and pull, so he will need someone physically capable and committed to continuing his training. The good news? He is incredibly intelligent and already working on improving his leash manners in foster care. Breed Traits & Needs Koda is every bit the cattle dog he was born to be—smart, driven, and full of energy, even at 8 years old. He is not a “yard-only” or “couch potato” dog. A fenced yard alone won’t meet his needs. To truly thrive, Koda will need: • Daily physical exercise (hikes, walks, running) • Ongoing training and structure • Mental enrichment (puzzle toys, tasks, or a “job”) Personality Koda is a good dog with a big brain and a loyal heart. He isn’t overly cuddly, but he does show affection in his own way—whether that’s relaxing next to you on the couch or simply wanting to be near his person. He’s happiest when he has purpose and engagement. For the right person, someone who understands working breeds and is ready to invest in him, Koda has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a smart, active dog and are ready to give Koda the structure and commitment he deserves, he just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Turner, a 2-year-old neutered Blue Heeler mix with a sweet, affectionate side and a playful spirit. This cuddle bug loves being close to his people and looks to them for reassurance and guidance as he explores the world around him. When Turner first arrived at the shelter, he had no idea what a leash was for — but he’s quickly learned that walks can lead to fun adventures, new smells, and quality time with his favorite humans.Turner enjoys meeting people and has a goofy, eager personality that shines once he feels comfortable. Like many herding breeds, he’s intelligent, active, and always ready to stay busy. He is still learning appropriate dog play skills and can get a little chasey and nippy during play, so he would do best with patient adopters who understand herding breed behaviors and can continue helping him build confidence and manners.

Story
George is an amazing dog and he's wonderful around other animals and children. He's very patient, non aggressive, relaxed, and protective. I have had him since he was a puppy. He is house trained and knows a few tricks. He has been a wonderful dog for my family. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to relocate and he cannot go with us. Sadly, we will have to rehome him.
