Story
Meet Koda ❤️ Koda is an 8-year-old red heeler mix who is incredibly smart, loyal, and looking for a very specific kind of home where he can truly thrive. Koda recently lost the only home he’s ever known because his family is growing and Koda has a tough time adjusting to the unpredictable nature of children. While that transition has been tough, he’s already starting to settle and show us who he really is. Each day, he’s becoming more relaxed and comfortable in foster care —but he will need a patient, committed adopter who understands that trust and learning a new routine takes time. The Basics • Potty trained & crate trained • Lived successfully with a small dog (mini dachshund) most of his life after a very slow and thoughtful introduction • He wants to be part of a “pack” Home Requirements Koda would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children (8+). He is not comfortable with young kids, especially if they are loud, unpredictable, or in his space. He will need slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, and at this time, would do best as the only dog or with a very experienced home willing to manage introductions carefully. No cats due to his prey drive. What He’s Working On Koda can be reactive on leash and in the yard, especially toward people and other dogs. He may lunge, bark, and pull, so he will need someone physically capable and committed to continuing his training. The good news? He is incredibly intelligent and already working on improving his leash manners in foster care. Breed Traits & Needs Koda is every bit the cattle dog he was born to be—smart, driven, and full of energy, even at 8 years old. He is not a “yard-only” or “couch potato” dog. A fenced yard alone won’t meet his needs. To truly thrive, Koda will need: • Daily physical exercise (hikes, walks, running) • Ongoing training and structure • Mental enrichment (puzzle toys, tasks, or a “job”) Personality Koda is a good dog with a big brain and a loyal heart. He isn’t overly cuddly, but he does show affection in his own way—whether that’s relaxing next to you on the couch or simply wanting to be near his person. He’s happiest when he has purpose and engagement. For the right person, someone who understands working breeds and is ready to invest in him, Koda has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a smart, active dog and are ready to give Koda the structure and commitment he deserves, he just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Robin is bringing the red… and a whoooole lot of love with it. ❤️ At 2 years old and around 50 pounds, this Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) mix is very much a velcro girl. She doesn’t just want to share your space – she wants to be part of whatever you’re doing, whether that’s hopping in the car or just hanging nearby as you go about your day. Robin is house trained, crate trained, and knows commands like “sit” and “come.” She’s a great co-pilot for car rides, and while she can pull a bit on leash, she just needs some continued guidance and consistency to help her settle into a good routine. She does well with other dogs, especially with slow introductions (she’s not a fan of overly pushy, in-your-face greetings right away). We don’t yet know how she is with cats or kids, but we do know she is incredibly loving and happiest when she feels safe, secure, and included in daily life. That sense of closeness is important to her. Robin would do best in a home where she isn’t left alone for long stretches and can truly be part of the rhythm of the household. A secure, tall fence will also be important (she’s smart and athletic, so she could clear a shorter fence if left unattended for too long). Robin is the kind of dog who forms a deep bond and sticks close. She’s the one who’s always nearby, always tuned in, and always ready to love you with her whole heart. ❤️ Robin is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and current on heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. Her adoption fee is $175. Head over to PawsitiveTailsKC.org now to fill out your app to meet her! Meet-and-greets will be scheduled with approved adopters. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤
