Story
Hello, I am Callie!  I am about 4 or 5 years old.  When you meet me, the first thing you will notice is my beauty, but my real loveliness is actually inside my heart. I never met a person I did not love; I love all the people I meet and love all other doggies (I'm not tested with cats).  If I could, I would play and romp in the yard with an active dog all day and run over to you from time to time for a cuddle.  I love to bark and talk, and learned to use the stairs in a few minutes.  I may have been in a house before, but I don’t remember if I was, so I don’t know any rules. I am working on my potty training the past few weeks, and my foster says I am very smart because I am picking it up really quickly and have not had an accident in awhile. I cannot be let loose in the house when my foster mom is not home, since I do not yet understand that there are expected ways to behave, and I do still chew a bit at things. Right now, I don’t know any words, but I do like the sound of my foster saying “good girl” when I listen, which is hard to do since I just want to play a lot.  I am more like an adolescent puppy than an adult dog, so I am very active. I do not like the leash very much, not sure if I had one on before, but I am starting to tolerate it.  Callie will do best with consistent obedience training, an active household, and having at least one active dog as a housemate who can show Callie the ropes. If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Hello, I'm Katie!  I am about four years old, born in August 2019.  My human dad passed away recently, so I need a new home.  I promise to be very sweet, and I already get along with other dogs and people so well.  I haven't been around cats, and because of my high herding instinct, it will be best to find a family without cats as my furry siblings.  My foster parents say I need to shed a few pounds, so I'm working on losing weight through diet and exercise.  Please reach out if you think I could be a good pup for you!If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Meet Miss Sally Mae!  She is a young collie girl who was born in March 2023.  She is looking for her forever home – ideally one with a physically-active owner who is home with her often.  Her favorite thing to do is play with her stuffed squeaky toys! Sally is a puppy who is still learning the ropes.  She is learning to walk on a leash, responding to her name being called, and basic commands.  She is also still adjusting to crate training, and will lay in her crate at night time.  She has not yet been spayed, but will once she gains a little more weight. Her current foster home has two cats and two dogs, and Sally is doing great with them!  However, she sometimes gets a little too playful and the cats have to remind her to tone it down.  Sally listens to them well, and knows when to leave them alone.  She gets a bit nervous meeting new people inside the house, but when meeting new people outside she is more open and social. She doesn’t enjoy loud electronic noises, such as vacuums and dishwashers.  She tends to bark in response to those noises, to notify the family that there is “danger,” but her foster family is working with Sally to help her get desensitized to these sounds. She’s a sweet collie puppy, and we look forward to helping her find her forever home!  If you are interested in learning more about Sally Mae, please contact us.If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Meet Jethro!  This cool pup was born in March 2023.  For a young dog, he is quite mellow with a very gentle temperament.  Jethro isn’t a high maintenance pup, and does not need a high-energy home.   He just wants to be near his people.  Some of his favorite things to do are eating, playing with his bone in the backyard and snoozing under the table. Jethro is still too thin to be neutered, but will be as soon as he gains a little more weight.  He is housetrained and goes out several times a day.  He also is doing great walking on a leash and learning to focus, and doesn’t pull on the leash.  He also has learned to come when called with a little clap or whistle, but he hasn’t learned basic commands yet.  Jethro is crate-trained and doesn’t mind it, and does not seem to have any separation issues when his foster parents are not home.  We’ve learned that he is not a fan of electrical appliances and the vacuum. Jethro is a bit shy when first meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and is curious to learn more about them. He’s also met other animals and has wonderful manners – he does not get wound up or nervous around other dogs.  He enjoys getting brushed, and also is comfortable in cars.  He likes to hang his nose out the window! Is this chill, relaxed collie boy the right fit for your home?  Contact Collie Rescue, Inc. today to learn more about him!If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Meet this sweet new puppy, Susie!  She was born in March 2023.    Although Susie is small for a rough collie, she is very athletic and can really run and jump - like a border collie!  She may need to be in a home that has a good fence height. She loves to play tug and chase with her foster sister, and zoom around both inside and outside.  Susie is also very interested in runners that pass by, so she may enjoy the chance to go running with her future new family. She is curious about new people, and has met people of all ages and genders, as well as cats and dogs of various sizes with no problem.  Susie seems to enjoy both cats and dogs, eager to play with them.  But she knows to back off if the other animals let her know that they are not interested.  She is still too thin to be spayed, but will be as soon as she gains a little more weight.  She is doing well with her housetraining, learning to do bathroom breaks outside about five times throughout the day.  Susie enjoys getting at least three walks a day, and is doing fantastic walking on a leash!  She wears a harness and walks nicely along with her foster sister, stopping to sniff and explore on her own.   She will stop and watch when she sees something unusual, and she doesn’t seem to like sounds that are unfamiliar to her – such as drilling tools or leaf blowers. Susie is learning polite behaviors, such as learning to sit and wait at gates and doors nicely.  If we say, “Uh-oh,” she understands that means, “No.”  She can be a bit vocal.  She is also learning to sit quietly for treats in the presence of an unfamiliar dog. She happily eats meals in her crate, and is leaning to sit politely for the door to be opened before leaving.  She will also sleep in her crate at night. Overall, Susie could live in almost any situation, but an active person or couple without kids or other pets may be her ideal forever home, so that her adopters can spend lots of time with her and take her to interesting places! If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Name: Citra Sex: Female Estimated Age: 3-4 years Best Guess for Breed: Border Collie Mix Weight: 59lbs Good With: Citra is good with other dogs as long as she has the proper introduction. We are not sure how she does with kids or cats, but happy to test her out for you! About Citra: Citra is an adorable 4 year old border collie mix who is incredibly smart and loves to learn new tricks. Fun facts: she knows over 15 commands and is working on several more, she’s a mozzarella cheese aficionado and butt scratches are her favorite! She also loves sunbathing - she can go for hours without moving from a sunny spot! Please read more about her below! CITRA’S PERFECT MATCH: PERFECT FAMILY: A home with 1-2 adults is ideal. Citra needs crate time when guests come over, but can warm up with a slow introduction and some treats. Because she is shy, we are recommending she not go to a home with small children. She can be quite scared of other dogs and cats, and would do best as the only dog in the home. However, she has been working her hardest with us to overcome her fears, and has shown lots of progress recently! PERFECT HOME: One with a fenced in yard away from the bustling city. EXERCISE NEEDS: Citra enjoys long walks on the leash and rolling in the grass belly side up at the park. She could play fetch and tug all day long with her humans! However, she is also very content to lounge around the house. She is such a playful pup and would love to learn new games and activities! She loves untangling a towel to get to her food, and that tires her out just as much as a walk! She should not be taken to dog parks. BEHAVIOR IN HOME: Citra is a sweetheart. She loves to play with her humans and then take naps on the couch or in her crate. She is slowly but surely learning how to interact with new humans, but it takes a lot of treats and patience to gain her trust. Once she gets comfortable, she would love nothing more but to snuggle up with you all night long. She is quiet and comfortable in her crate, knows the “place” command, and does not have accidents in the home. CRATE: Citra loves her crate, she will sleep and relax there during the day and while her humans are not at home. She also sleeps in there all night long! Color Match: ORANGE - Goofball (Socially Motivated) Dog Personality — Will work for what they want, but are not as committed to pursuing their own agenda; these are considered moderate-persistence dogs. Adopter Personality — Interested in doing some training and can provide regular interaction and activity. If you think that Citra might be your perfect match, apply today!November 28, 2023, 9:18 pm
