Story
All the qualities that people so often look for in the ‘perfect’ dog can be found in Corey.  Corey is a sweet 5 year old, relaxed boy with a gentle and nurturing soul. Ideal for a family with older children, he'd be the perfect companion for a family who wants a quiet, friendly pet with good house manners.  He is looking for a caring and compassionate home that will help build his confidence further and understand he is a bit shy initially. He is already great on his recall and listens well when spoken to politely.  He is a great mentor for younger dogs with his patience and understanding of their spunky nature. Corey is crate trained and house broken.  He is comfortable being crated for hours if you need to leave him at home by himself. An absolute sweetheart of a boy, Corey is affectionate and quiet. He is looking for a home where he'll get a daily walk and be allowed to live inside as a close member of his family. He has basic obedience and is very well behaved, the perfect dog for inner city life who will reward you with a big warm smile. If you’ve been looking for the companionship of a wonderful pet, and understand that age is no barrier to love, come and meet Corey. Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc June 16, 2024, 11:07 pm

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Vixey is a 2 year old Corgi mix who is looking forward to a life of luxury with you! Vixey was rescued from a hoarding situation and taken to a shelter. We were called to assist and we happily scooped up Miss Vixey and brought her into our rescue. She was all smiles once she knew she was safe with us. Vixey weighs 17 pounds and has a wonderful floofy Corgi-type coat. She has a bright smile and a wiggle in her body that shows her excitement for life. We can’t wait to see this gal thrive in her forever home!    Vixey is a cuddle monster who has the smile of a model! Vixey was initially pretty unsure of her new surroundings but once she got settled, she was ready for all the attention her foster home had to offer her! She is still a puppy at heart, which means she has fabulous energy and a love of adventure. She would love a home where she can be with her people. Vixey would be a fabulous work from home companion as she is great at lounging on the couch during Zoom calls. Vixey has a ton of energy so she would love to check off your adventure bucket list. From hikes to beach trips to camping to runs, she’s down for it all! Vixey is super sweet and oh so eager to please, so we know she will draw you in from first glance. She is also super funny! Her party trick is standing on her hind legs and waving her arms like a little circus dog. She loves belly rubs and is ready to give you all she has in exchange for a lifetime of companionship!  Vixey comes out of her crate around 6 AM and goes outside to potty. She gets breakfast in her puzzle bowl once she trots back inside. Once she finishes her meal, she spends some time playing and wrestling with her foster sibling. During the day, Vixey alternates between laying on the couch, playing, and sniffing around. Vixey gets a walk in the afternoon and loves checking out all the smells the world has to offer. She gets a snack around 2 PM and then has dinner around 5 PM. She gets another walk in the evening. She gets some playtime outside after her walk and loves to zoom around with her foster sibling. In the evening, Vixey spends some time soaking up her cuddles and kisses as she unwinds from the day. After one last potty trip, she goes into her crate for the night at 10:30 PM.  Vixey does well with dogs who like to play. Sometimes she can be a bit much for older dogs who would prefer to sleep. Vixey will need continued training to help find outlets for her energy. Vixey walks well on a leash but sometimes gets distracted when things pull her gaze away. She takes corrections well though! Vixey would do well in a home who is excited for a higher energy companion. This gal is so excited to get her forever adventure started with you!   Vixey is only an option for homes who have prior dog experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 15.June 17, 2024, 1:26 pm

This gal was rescued from the shelter after she was left for reasons unknown. Well, we couldn’t let her languish in a pen for the rest of her life so we scooped her up and away we went! Meadow is a gorgeous low-riding girl with fabulous ears and an even more amazing personality. Meadow currently weighs 25 pounds and we expect her adult weight to be 27 pounds. Don’t let this once in a lifetime pup pass you by!     Meadow is a fabulous girl with an adventurous spirit and a permanent smile on her face. She has a wonderful temperament that earns her friends wherever she goes. Meadow has enough energy to be a great hiking/adventure buddy but she can also take it easy on the couch when her people are getting some work done. Meadow loves to check out her surroundings as she makes herself at home, sniffing out all the potential hidden treats. She is so sweet and affectionate, doling out kisses and rolling over onto her belly on the sidewalk for strangers. Meadow isn’t a velcro dog and can keep herself entertained when you need her to, checking out the yard with her fantastic smile including her tongue hanging out. Meadow’s dream day would be waking up to food, spending her morning chasing butterflies in the backyard, getting her daily allotment of kisses on the couch, followed by an adventure with her people! She just can’t wait to show you how amazing she is. She’s even enjoyed a beach trip already, so she will have tons of adventures in mind from day one!  Meadow sleeps in her crate from 10-7 happily before waking up and heading straight outside for a potty break. She gets her kisses and snuggles in before she spends a half hour running around with her foster brother. She gets her breakfast in a puzzle bowl because she is a smart cookie! Throughout the day, Meadow alternates between playtime, yard. exploration, and snoozing in her bed. She gets a short walk in the afternoon once the weather cools off before she gets her evening meal. Meadow has some more time for playing at night, getting her last zoomies out. After she’s tired out, she helps herself onto the couch for some snuggles and kisses next to her foster brother. After one last potty break, Meadow heads to her crate for the night and dreams of kisses!  Meadow lives with another DPS foster dog and adores him. They make each other more confident and content as they romp and play. Meadow is extremely food motivated and is very smart, picking up new things impressively fast. She is working on her leash walking skills and picking up new ideas fast. She is very trainable and food motivated like any good Beagle mix. Meadow would do well in a home prepared to continue her training to ensure she is an amazing adult pup. This amazing gal can’t wait to meet you!    Meadow is an option for homes of any experience level. She could be a first-time dog if her home is prepared to continue her training. Kids in the home should be over the age of 10.June 17, 2024, 1:26 pm

Story
Hello, my name is Coco! I'm a cute boy that is curious of the world. I love people very much and whenever I walk down the street, there are always people who want to play with me. I am scared of other dogs so I would bark and run away from other dogs. I never played with small kids before, but maybe someone can give me a chance. Colin keeps feeling that he doesn't have enough time to keep me company and I always feel bored. I hope someone with experience can give me a forever home with more attention. I am ready for the new life. I’m neutered, up to date on everything! I hope you ask about me!!!

Story
Pembroke Welsh Corgi Mix Age: Senior Male, neutered 20 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Llew was picked up by animal control off the streets of Hayward. He was unable to use his back legs. Otherwise he seemed in fairly good shape. He must not have been on the streets for long. It is suspected that he had a back problem (IVDD) that was never treated. He has responded well to anti-inflammatory and pain medications. He has gained some use of his back legs (he can stand and walk a few steps). He has been in physical therapy for a few months. UPDATE: With diligent persistence from his foster home, Llew is walking again on his back legs. He is a little wobbly, but he is using his back legs all the time - no more dragging. For all he has been through, he has an excellent demeanor - very friendly, very loving. He can come off as a little “pushy” to some dogs, but overall he gets along well with all the dogs in his foster home. He needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. He would prefer a home with another friendly dog. Nobody’s Perfekt Dogs is willing to assist with his vet costs, if needed. Even though he has regained the ability to walk with his hind legs, the jury is still out on whether he has control of his bladder and bowels. He appears to pee when he goes outside, but he doesn't stop and pee. Similarly, he doesn't stop and poop - it just comes out when it is ready.
