Story
Pembroke Welsh Corgi Mix Age: Senior Male, neutered 20 lbs Adoption Fee: Donation (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Llew was picked up by animal control off the streets of Hayward. He was unable to use his back legs. Otherwise he seemed in fairly good shape. He must not have been on the streets for long. It is suspected that he had a back problem (IVDD) that was never treated. He has responded well to anti-inflammatory and pain medications. He has gained some use of his back legs (he can stand and walk a few steps). He has been in physical therapy for a few months. UPDATE: With diligent persistence from his foster home, Llew is walking again on his back legs. He is a little wobbly, but he is using his back legs all the time - no more dragging. For all he has been through, he has an excellent demeanor - very friendly, very loving. He can come off as a little “pushy” to some dogs, but overall he gets along well with all the dogs in his foster home. He needs a home with no stairs, and where someone is home most of the time. He would prefer a home with another friendly dog. Nobody’s Perfekt Dogs is willing to assist with his vet costs, if needed. Even though he has regained the ability to walk with his hind legs, the jury is still out on whether he has control of his bladder and bowels. He appears to pee when he goes outside, but he doesn't stop and pee. Similarly, he doesn't stop and poop - it just comes out when it is ready. I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog E:5Looking for an all-around good boy with a zest for life? Meet Frankie! This fun-loving pup is the perfect combination of playfulness and maturity. He LOVES playing fetch! He LOVES squeaky toys! He LOVES love! With his handsome little face, adorable Corgi stature, and goofball personality, you won’t be able to resist his many charms. Frankie has gotten along well with other respectful dogs at the shelter and would likely do well either as a solo pup or with a doggie sibling. With his happy-go-lucky nature, he may also be a good candidate for a home with respectful older children. July 22, 2024, 9:39 am

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $1000   Nugget is a 3 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi who is excited to find her forever family to race through life with! Nugget was surrendered to our rescue when her former home no longer could give Nugget the life she deserved. We promised to find her the best forever home and welcomed her into our rescue with open arms as she gave us kisses and hugs. She arrived as a very chunky gal, but her foster home has helped her on her weight loss journey and she is already well on her way to being America’s Next Top Model! Nugget is a purebred Corgi who has fabulous ears and an even more amazing personality. Even in her chunkier state, she loves zooming around her yard and living her absolute best life. Interested homes should be prepared to continue Nugget’s weight-loss journey, as she is still on the chunkier side. Nugget has a fabulous smile and a zest for life that will inspire even the most dog-skeptical homes. If you’ve been dreaming of a fabulous best friend in the body of a bread loaf, you’ve met your new best friend with Nugget!     Nugget is a fabulous, loving, and affectionate gal who showcases the very best of the Corgi breed for those who know and love them! She is super smart and loves her training time. She learned very early how to connect activities from one day to the next and immediately learned the routines and expectations of her foster home. She is built like a little linebacker but she operates like a wide receiver: she loves chasing balls and is incredibly fast on her stubby little legs. Nugget has the most amazing little happy yips she shows off when she zooms around her yard and adores her canine foster sibling. She loves every person in her foster home for different reasons and has created special connections with all of them. From cuddling to playing to feeding to kisses, Nugget will make everyone fall in love from the first minute they meet her. After she settled in, she learned how to relax while her foster mom goes about her workday. She loves her toys and can keep herself occupied for as long as she needs to during the day. She has been a real trooper about her weight loss journey and eagerly gets her zoomies out before enjoying her low-calorie snacks and kibble. Nugget loves her crate and her bed and goes into her little space without complaint. She also loves her people and even adores strangers, bringing them her toys in the hope they will play with her (and with a fabulous face like hers it is almost impossible to resist bending down to scratch her). She is playful and energetic but also loves resting with her head on your lap as she snuggles close for affection and pets. She loves tummy rubs and will happily roll on her back for unlimited scratches. Nugget would be an amazing companion for a day of adventure followed by a night of movies and snuggles. Like any Corgi, she is super smart and amazingly fun. She will be a total delight to the family lucky enough to bring her home. Her personality shines through everything she does and we know she will brighten any neighborhood she graces. What more could you ask for in a new member of the family! Nugget wakes up around 7 AM and greets her foster people from her crate with a wagging tail as they come downstairs to greet her. She heads outside for a potty break and then either gets a short walk or some playtime in the yard. She gets her breakfast and then settles in for her break as her foster family gets ready for the day. During the day, Nugget hangs around the home as her foster mom works, playing off and on. She is a great WFH buddy as she knows when to chill and when to show off her personality for some attention. She loves her low-cal treats (green beans, blueberries) and has learned how to perform for her snacks! After the workday, Nugget gets an evening walk before she devours her dinner. After she eats, she spends some more time zooming around the yard with her foster sibling. She loves chasing her tiny tennis balls with a wagging tail and a huge smile. Once she starts to unwind from the day, she soaks up the adoration her foster family has to offer her and watches TV while she gets her pets. Around 9 PM, she goes outside for one last potty break before she goes into her crate for the night. She happily snoozes the night away curled up in her soft bed.   Nugget is living with a canine foster sibling and learned how to adore her sibling after an adjustment period. After some positive reinforcement training, she learned how to love being a sibling and never looked back. Nugget loves people of all ages and sizes and follows new people around in the hope they will drop yummy snacks on the ground. Nugget currently gets two walks a day and loves checking out her neighborhood. Her ideal forever home would be one where she can continue getting her zoomies out in a loving home with a fabulous family. She would be an amazing solo dog or as a canine sibling. She has lived with kids and adults of all ages and loves them all, she isn’t picky in any aspect of her life! Ideally, Nugget’s forever home will have experience with smarter breeds, as she needs a home ready to show her the ropes. Nugget has so many fabulous personality traits that those who love Corgis will adore. We know she will make her new family the happiest (and luckiest) people around!    Nugget is only an option for homes who have owned a dog previously. Interested homes must be prepared to continue her weight-loss journey. Kids in the home should be over the age of 6. July 21, 2024, 9:24 pm
