Story
This is Ash, a lovable pup (either Corgi/huskyX or ShibaX is our best guess) who wants to be the best like no dog ever was. He is 2 years old, neutered, and 36lb of cuteness. He’s an owner surrender from Kansas who knows a few tricks from his past life, like sit, down, and shake. He enjoys going for walks where he takes his time sniffing. Ash enjoys going on adventures so much, he patiently lets his stout legs be manipulated into harnesses and out of leash tangles. He likes running around with toys or settling down with a chew. You might catch him trying his best to hide toys in couches or other nooks and crannies. He gets the zoomies and will try to goad you into playing with him. Ash is also a big cuddlebug who will happily flop up next to you for some attention, belly rubs, and naptime. He’s food-motivated and won’t hesitate to use his puppy eyes. Ash shares his foster home with two similarly sized dogs and two dog-savvy cats. He was curious about the cats and will sometimes follow them, but also leaves them space and will patiently sit or lie down while watching them. Potential adopters with cats can expect a similar level of curiosity until he acclimates to them. Ash meshed well with the dogs, two neutered males, and was able to eat alongside them without issue. He would do well in a forever home with another friendly, confident dog. Ash is quick to build trust with new people, especially if they offer him treats and attention. He’s also quite clever, having learned to use a doggy door by day two in his foster home. Ash has done well with most dogs and is often eager to greet them, but has postured against a few dogs. He does not like intact dogs and may try to test them. Some barrier frustration, both fence and leash, has been observed when around intact dogs. Ash is house-trained and non-destructive but, like with many dogs, may need an adjustment period and a regular potty schedule as he settles into his forever home. Despite his stout stature, he may need reminders not to try counter surfing in his new home. Ash is not crate-trained. He has not been tested with children but given his temperament, respectful kids 8+ may be considered. Given how he lights up when he senses impending fun, Ash’s ideal forever home is one with a fenced yard where he’ll get regular engagement and activity.
