Story
Hi, my name is Yugi! I’m about 4 years old and 25 lbs. I love my humans and will want to be around them all the time. Some would say I’m like a shadow so someone who works from would be ideal. I  am potty trained and crate trained but would prefer to spend minimal time in it, unless you would like to accompany me in a human sized one. I’m very friendly and love to play with my tennis ball.   Yugi will bark if left in a kennel for too long, so an apartment situation isn’t a good fit. Yugi would do best with a friendly female dog and/or a playful tolerant cat who enjoys being “groomed’ by a canine friend.  Yugi can be nervous around men he’s unsure about. He is ok around kids but might become protective of his owner so respectful child 10+ may be considered.    If you’re interested in meeting Yugi, the first step is to complete the meet and greet application at  https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Yugi is neutered, utd, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $425 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.September 20, 2026, 11:08 am

Story
Murphy is a sweet Corgi mix looking for the loving home he’s always deserved. Rescued from a hoarding situation, Murphy missed out on much of his puppy years — but you’d never know it from his big, playful heart. He’s making up for lost time and he’s ready to soak up all the love, attention, and belly rubs the world has to offer. Our best guess at age is 1.5 yrs old, and he is about 30 lbs. Murphy is a little cautious by nature and can be shy with new people at first, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up. Once he does, you’ll see just how affectionate he truly is — he just wants to be near you, get pets, and be your shadow. And that tail? It’s always going. Just glance in his direction and that little propeller starts flying — he’s one happy boy, through and through. Outside, he really lights up: running around, playing with other dogs, and finally getting to just be a puppy. He’s the most loving dog you’ll ever meet, and there’s truly something special and unique about him. Watching him enjoy these simple joys after everything he’s been through is something else — and he’s ready to bring a lot of joy and happiness into the household lucky enough to take him in. Murphy is looking for:     •    Patient people who’ll let him warm up at his own pace     •    A home ready to shower him with attention and affection once he’s comfortable     •    A yard or nearby space to run and play     •    Other dog friends (he loves them!) Give Murphy the puppyhood he deserves — meet him today! The first step is to complete our meet and greet application at  https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms  We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. He is neutered, HW- and up-to-date with shots. His adoption fee is $400, and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.September 20, 2026, 11:08 am

Story
Meet Kit! (AKA KitKat) At just 5–6 months old and 27#, this Corgi (and possible Shepherd) mix is a sweet, gregarious puppy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. KitKat is trusting, super affectionate, and never says no to a good belly rub! The Highlights: Social Butterfly: Great with dogs of all sizes. Curious About Cats: Needs more training, currently thinks they are something to chase. Playtime Enthusiast: Loves to run, play, chase, and surround himself with as many toys as possible. Very springy puppy!  Routine Ready: Already crate/kennel trained! Warning - He likes to “sing” (howl) himself to sleep but eventually settles down. What He’s Working On: Like any young pup, KitKat is still learning his big boy manners. He’s currently working on potty training, curbing his puppy jumping and keeping his paws on the ground when he is excited, and learning what is (and isn't) a chew toy. Ideal Match: KitKat needs a patient, positive-reinforcement-focused person / family who can keep up with his fun energy and give him the attention and guidance he needs to grow into his best self. A fenced in yard is required and respectful kids 10+ may be considered. If you're looking for a loving, adventurous sidekick, you can complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Kit is neutered, utd on vaccs, and chipped. His adoption fee is $425 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.September 20, 2026, 11:08 am

Story
This amazing ball of floof is Oreo. Oreo was surrendered by his owner due to too many dogs. Oreo is almost 2y/o and 35#. He is a good boy who is looking for an active home with another playful tolerant dog his size. He is a bit fearful of bigger dogs and gets easily overstimulated. Oreo walks well on the leash and needs longer daily walks plus other mental and physical exercise, and weekend hikes, or a working or sport home. He’d love a basic doggie manners class where he could bond with his person and show you how smart he is. Oreo is working on marking indoors and still does it occasionally and/or when he is stressed and/or if there’s another new boy dog around. He’ll need continued support and supervision and let outside often to do his business. He wears a belly band at night (it’s almost always dry in the AM) and sleeps in a dog bed. He tolerates a kennel for short periods but doesn’t love it, so someone home during the day would be best. His fluffy coat will require more than average grooming. Oreo can be fearful of new grabby hands, humans reaching over him, and fast movements towards him so only homes with children 12+ or no kids will be considered. We do not know how he is with cats but he is very herdy so cats are NOT recommended. Oreo is not a good fit for an apartment situation and requires a good sized fenced in yard where he can run around and he’ll still need appropriate daily exercise to keep him in good shape as he easily puts on weight. A herding breed experienced home would be best as he’s not a good option for a first time owner. He needs some time to settle and patience while he learns a new routine in a new environment with new people. He can be nervous and mouthy at first, but once he feels comfortable, he is very affectionate and cuddly. He should be told at least 10 times a day that he’s a good boy. If you are interested in meeting Oreo, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Oreo is neutered, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $450 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.  March 8, 2026, 9:08 am

Story
Hi, I'm Portur and I am a 1.5 year old Corgi! I'm a sweet boy but could use some training on basic manners. I seem to get along well with everyone but will need someone to keep a close eye on me as I am an escape artist and can get over a 4ft fence. I will either need to be leash walked only or be in a home with a tall privacy fence.  If you're interested in adopting me, please fill out an application at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. You can also reserve an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have visits scheduled, so appointments help ensure I’ll be available. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, and we welcome adopters from any state. We have access to a transport to Aurora, CO. Other outofstate adopters either travel to Missouri or arrange & pay for air transport. Virtual meetandgreets are available on the appointment request. ##2842820##
