Story
Benjii, corgi/shepherd mix, 6 yo, 36 lb, male.Benji is cute,  smart, loyal, and has a great steady shepherd-like personality.  He gets deeply attached, although needs a little bit of time to get used to a new place. Would be better as the only dog and would bond closer with a female owner. Would be better with teenage kids. He is patient and great at following the routine. Was found as a stray.   Adoption fee: $300. If interested, please submit an adoption or foster application at http://www.sanNicolaDogRescue.com  March 30, 2025, 7:55 pm

Story
This amazing ball of floof is Oreo. Oreo was surrendered by his owner due to too many dogs. Oreo is approximately 1.5 y/o and 30#. He is a good boy who would do best with another playful tolerant dog his size in his new home. He is a bit fearful of bigger dogs. Oreo walks well on the leash and would benefit from daily walks and a basic doggie manners class. Oreo is working on marking and gets better every day. He needs continued support and supervision and let outside often to do his business. He currently wears a belly band at night and sleeps in a dog bed. He tolerates a kennel for short periods but doesn’t love it, so someone home during the day would be best. His fluffy coat will require more than average grooming. Oreo is fearful of grabby hands, humans reaching over him, and fast movements towards him so only homes with children 12+ or no kids will be considered. We do not know how he is with cats but he is very herdy so cats aren’t recommended. Oreo is not a good fit for an apartment situation and requires a fenced in yard. A Corgi experienced home would be best as he’s not a good option for a first time owner. He needs some time to settle and patience while he learns a new routine in a new environment with new people. He can be nervous at first, but once he feels comfortable, he is very affectionate and cuddly. If you are interested in meeting Oreo, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at  https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms  We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Oreo is neutered, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. His adoption fee is $450 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado. April 13, 2025, 9:00 pm

Story
Riley is a sweet and loving girl who has been bounced around most of her life and is now ready to settle down with her forever family! She is a 28-lb, 7 year-old corgi mix (maybe Cojack or Cowboy Corgi). She is potty trained, crate trained, kid-friendly (6+), cat-friendly,  and dog-friendly. She gets along with dogs of all sizes! She does great on leashed walks; she is super smart and responds to "sit", "lie down", "up", "paw", "leave it", "bed", and probably more cues her foster family hasn't yet discovered. She will occasionally give the "I don’t want to" Corgi side-eye but she is too well-behaved to ignore her humans completely.  She loves chew toys and belly rubs. Riley does not require a fenced yard if her humans are willing to take her on decent walks several times a day but she has a loud bark so shared walls are not a good fit. Any fence must be secure; she can and will open doors. Riley is the goodest of girls and ready to be loved forever! If you are interested in meeting Riley, the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check and meet with everyone in the home. Riley is spayed, UTD on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. Her adoption fee is 325 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.May 6, 2025, 8:02 pm

Story
Fern is a sweet, loving dog who has had some bad luck in her young life. She is approximately 2-3 years old and 32 pounds. She is a low rider mix who looks a lot like a mini, short-legged black lab. We refer to her as a Corgidor. Fern has had a rough start to life, but thankfully she has made it through the tough times. She ended up in a high kill shelter in New Mexico and was pulled by a local rescue after being put on the short list and then brought up to Colorado by our rescue. During a routine spay, the vet found something abnormal inside her so then she had to have a second surgery to figure out what it was. It turns out that her spleen had ruptured in the past, probably from some sort of trauma, and was unable to heal properly, so it had to be removed. Thankfully, she has recovered well and will now be able to lead a normal life.  During the surgery, she was diagnosed with  inflammatory bowel disease, although she’s had minimal symptoms. Dogs respond well to dietary management, and the vet says that all she needs is a specialized food (hydrolyzed protein) to keep her healthy.  Fern’s disposition is gentle and sweet. She is a true companion dog and always wants to hang out near her people. She loves to bury her head in your lap in the mornings and will happily sit right beside you on the couch at night. She loves her daily walks and does well on a leash, though she is still working on not chasing the neighborhood squirrels who taunt her on walks. She is dog friendly and plays well with her corgi foster sister, but she can be nervous of large dogs. She is very gentle when taking treats, and loves being the center of attention. She is potty trained, crate trained, and can be left out in the home on her own without any issues.  Fern’s ideal home will be one where she isn’t left alone for long hours as she loves to be with her family. She could be in a home with shared walls as she is not much of a barker but will need at least a small secure yard as she does not potty well on the leash. She would like a daily walk or two, and loves to go for car rides. She is calm and gentle when meeting kids, so a home with children 6+ will be considered. She has not been cat tested. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. If you are interested in meeting Fern to potentially adopt her, the first step is to fill out and submit one of our Meet and Greet/Adoption Applications. Her Adoption fee is $375 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado. May 21, 2025, 11:07 pm

Eggs is a 6 month old Low Rider Mix who is one happy guy! He is playful, smart, goofy and intelligent. He loves other dogs, people, and a tad over excited about cats. He has a voice so apartment’s will not be his thing! The best fit for Eggs is a home with a yard, older kids, and an adventurous family/person. He also would love a playful mate but be fine as a single dude with activity. Eggs is a catch!     March 25, 2025, 9:03 am
