Dachshund puppies and dogs in Ripon, California

We have a 5 yr old dachshund boy named Rocket. He recently has been diagnosed with IVDD. He sustained a spine injury last month and he has been seen by our local vet, and a veterinary neurologist. His prognosis is severely disabled and he is considered to be a category 5 and permanently paralyzed due to his IVDD injury. His back legs are completely paralyzed and he is suffering from incontinence. He must wear a diaper at all times due to his incontinence. I am desperate to find someone that would take him in. I can not bear the thought of putting him down when he has so much spirit and life still left in him. He has been an amazing family pet for us and this diagnosis has devastated us to the core. He is friendly, obedient, and playful. My husband and I work full time and we have 3 young daughters. The sad reality is that we don't have the time available to dedicate the care for Rocket in the way he requires for his new life. He would need a loving home with 24 hour available care.

George is an 8-year-old, 12-pound chi/dachshund mix with a sweet personality and a very smart little mind. He figured out the doggie door in just two days and now happily lets himself out to soak up the sunshine whenever the mood strikes. George loves being outside and gets very excited when it’s time for a walk - he’s still working on not wrapping his leash around his human’s legs, but he’s trying! George is friendly and his tail is almost always wagging. He enjoys meeting new people, especially once he’s had a chance to sniff you first and make sure you meet his standards. He loves other dogs and fits right in with his foster brother and sister, so he would likely enjoy a home with another canine companion. George has been noted to have some arthritic back issues, but so far his foster mom hasn’t seen any limitations. He runs, plays with his foster brother, walks comfortably, and was even caught jumping off the couch when his foster mom came home. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you unconditionally, George might just be your perfect man.

Snoopy aka weenie is a lover but is also a protector of his human. Very energetic, loves to do the zoomies. Easy with a leash but also once relationship is established will stick by without a leash. Hes potty trained but if the time between potty breaks is too long an accident is bound to happen. Loves car rides. And my favorite is he is a cuddle bug. *He does have his rabies vaccination.

Pepito was found abandoned, blind with cataracts, infested with parasites, and losing hope. Luckily a good hearted person saw him and found him help. Now he's learning love again with regular care and TLC from staff and volunteers. Pepito is blind, so he relies on predictable routine and home layouts to navigate. He's caught on quickly to the ins and outs at the shelter and is growing more confident by the day. He's at a point where he will walk outside and use his nose to explore his surroundings. Pepito has also been around other small dogs before and would likely pair best with an easy going friend that won't try to rough house or push him around.  Pepito is looking for a home that can watch over him and show him the love and care he hasn't received in a very long time.
