Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet little Twitch, an almost 4 year old, 9 lb dachshund / chihuahua mix (best guess). He absolutely loves his people and is happy to be wherever you are! He is dog friendly and is currently fostered with another dog, but isn’t very interested in play just yet. Though he hasn’t been cat tested, he has seen cats on his walks and has not reacted, so we suspect he may be fine with a cat sibling.    Twitch is leash trained, crate trained, and potty pad trained, and he is working on being outdoor potty trained!     As he’s settled in with his foster family, we’ve learned even more about his cute personality! He adorably spins in circles when he gets excited, has an impressive jump, has started to play with toys, does great in the car, and is always so happy to meet new human friends! He’s tolerant in the bath but seems to really like the pool - he’s jumped in to join foster mom and is a strong swimmer! After a dip in the pool he happily does zoomies around the deck. He gets along well with his foster sister and understands corrections from other dogs. He’s learning “leave it” and responds well to praise!    Twitch is a very affectionate boy and he LOVES attention. He is very food motivated and prefers to be left alone while chowing down. He can become protective of high value treats and needs a slow approach, startled by sudden movements, and thus would do best in a no children home.   Twitch loves to be in your lap receiving love and attention. He has a gorgeous coat and has been tolerant to brushing. He recently had a teeth cleaning and is now donning sparkly white teeth!  Twitch’s adoption donation is $210 and will include neuter, microchip and age appropriate vaccines. Story
We got Levi when he was just 8 weeks old. He’s such a sweetheart. He loves attention from anyone who will give it to him. He has gotten grumpy with his old age though. He does good with dogs for the most part, he’s scared of big dogs and loves little dogs. However, he has started to get aggressive with our other dog over the last couple of years. He is 10 years old and we would love for him to see out his last few years with someone who can love him more than us right now and provide him with the attention he needs. He does very well with kids and has never tried to bite either of ours.

Story
Meet Papaya! Papaya joined our ALDR family a few weeks ago after he was brought into the county shelter being witnessed to be hit by a car not once, but twice, which resulted in life threatening injuries. He was taken to Pasco County Animal Services where an exam showed that he had a large degloving wound on his left thorax/shoulder/sternal/neck area, severe bruising, bilateral fractured fibulas, left hip subluxation, pulmonary contusions, sclera hemorrhage and dental disease. Basically the little guy was in bad condition! Papaya was hospitalized and once he was stabilized he moved into one of our amazing, experienced foster homes with a certified technician that has been providing all care needed since. Sadly he sustained so many wounds, road rash and degloving and one of the largest wounds was becoming necrotic so Papaya ended up back at the ER. He had to have surgery again for full debridement and has since been getting wet-to-dry bandages daily. This stage could take weeks, but we are committed to him and are doing everything we can! Despite everything, little guy is doing exceptionally well and is full is spunk! His wounds are healing very well, he is taking his meds like a good boy and because of that he got his first pup cup! If interested in adopting please fill out the adoption application on our website at animalluvrs.org under the ADOPT tab. We will require veterinary, personal and property references that we will verify. Feel free to email us at aldr@animalluvrs.org for more information. All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. Any questions, concerns and suggestions, please feel free to contact us at ALDR@animalluvrs.org. ##1529757##
