Meet Spencer! Spencer is an approximately 7-year-old, 11-pound Dachshund who is ready to find the loving forever home he deserves. He is one of the Florence 10, a group of dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Alabama in September 2025. Spencer has been on quite a journey since coming into rescue, and this sweet boy is finally ready to start the next chapter of his life! When Spencer first arrived, he had suffered from a severe flea infestation, leaving him with significant hair loss, along with ear, eye, and skin infections. Thankfully, those issues have all cleared up, and his beautiful coat has grown back wonderfully. He has also undergone two dental surgeries to remove all of his teeth and repair fistulas. Spencer still has a neuter appointment ahead of him, which will be more involved than a routine neuter. Despite everything he has been through, he remains a friendly, loving little guy who deserves a chance at a happy life. Spencer absolutely needs a canine companion in his forever home. He loves being close to other dogs and wants a buddy who will happily share sleeping space with him without having issues over personal boundaries. His new friend can be young or old, big or small. Spencer gets along well with dogs of all sizes and ages. Cats may also be a good fit, provided they are comfortable living with dogs. Spencer is friendly with people, too, although he has a little stranger danger. He tends to bark at people until he gets to know them, and he can be quite vocal about unfamiliar noises and activity around him. For this reason, an apartment probably isn't the best fit for him. He also experiences separation anxiety when left completely alone, which is another reason having a canine companion is so important. The good news is that Spencer does fine in a home where his people work full-time, as his current foster family does. With another dog for company, he can settle into a normal workday routine. Spencer is looking for a home that will appreciate his personality, understand that he may need a little time to warm up to new people, and provide him with the canine companionship he craves. After everything this little fellow has endured, he deserves a family that will give him comfort, security, patience, and plenty of love. Meet Rex! Rex is an approximately 9- to 10-year-old Dachshund who is ready to find his forever home! He is the final chapter of a very special rescue story. Rex is one of the Florence 10, the group of dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Alabama in September 2025. He and Spencer are the last two members of this special group still waiting for their forever families, and we would love nothing more than to see Rex finally find his happily ever after! Rex has been through quite a medical journey. He underwent dental surgery with a specialist, resulting in the removal of all his teeth, along with surgical repairs to address severe fistulas. Thankfully, his fistulas have now healed, and he is doing wonderfully! Although Rex no longer has any teeth, he has no trouble eating. He does well with both canned food and kibble and manages his meals just fine. Rex also has an autoimmune disorder that results in low albumin levels. This condition requires him to remain on prescription food as recommended by his veterinarian, so his future family will need to be committed to maintaining his prescribed diet and following his vet's recommendations for his ongoing care. With his medical needs understood and managed, Rex is ready to focus on what he loves most: cuddling, napping, and being close to the people and dogs he loves. Rex is a true snuggle bug! He loves to sleep with his humans, nap beside them, and cuddle with his canine companions. His current best friend is a Great Dane in his foster home, proving that size doesn't matter when it comes to friendship! Rex is happiest when he has another dog nearby to keep him company, and having a furry friend to share his life with is an absolute must. Because of Rex's background in a hoarding situation, he must go to a home with at least one other dog. This is a firm requirement for his adoption. He thrives with canine companionship, and we want to make sure his forever home provides the security and friendship he needs to feel safe and happy. Rex has some wonderful everyday skills, too! He knows how to use a dog door, walks nicely on a leash, and loves riding in the car. Whether he's joining you for a little adventure or settling in for a cozy afternoon nap, Rex would love to be part of your daily life. Once she gets to know you, she is devoted, loving, and yes — she LOVES to cuddle. ❤️ But Thea’s life hasn’t always looked like this. Before coming to our rescue, Thea had spent months living confined in a basement, 24 hours a day. When she arrived, we discovered she was pregnant. Just one week later, she gave birth. Thea raised her babies, watched over them, and did everything she needed to do. Today, all of her puppies have gone home. Now it’s Thea’s turn. ❤️ And we want to make sure the home she gets is truly the right one. Thea may be a lap dog, but she is NOT a couch potato! 😂 She is a young, energetic girl who needs an active home that can give her the physical activity and stimulation she needs every single day. DOB 12-7-2024 Wolfie is a gorgeous Red and White Long Hair! This beautiful boy loves everyone, likes to play with toys and his friends. He is neutered, heartworm negative and has received a Proheart6 preventative injection, up to date on shots and is now looking for a loving home. His adoption fee is 900.00 and his transport fee is 135.00. HEARTS is our transport, they run every 2 weeks. It's the best transport and the only one we will use. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis.
