Story
Moonpie was rescued from APA in Brentwood in 2021 when he was eight months old. He turned five this March. He is an athletic and energetic Dachshund mix. He loves outdoors and thrives around dogs of all sizes. He is easy going and does well around small children & adults. He likes snuggling with humans and enjoys sleeping under blankets where it is dark. He has a big voice for his size and loves to let it out frequently. He has never been crated at home. However, he does well in a crate and will go in voluntarily. He has stayed on the same exact diet since being rescued in 2021 & enjoys it. He has never had any health issues/concerns and has stayed up to date with Rabies, Distemper, and Bordatella vaccines since being rescued from APA.

Story
Rusty Wallace is a 4 year old dauchshund mix.   Rusty is house trained, cat and dog friendly, and enjoys human companions of all ages.  If in a home with children, they need to be older children that understand Rusty's needs noted below.   He loves car rides. He sleeps in bed with his human but will also sleep in a kennel. He loves to burrow so blankets are a must!   Rusty came back into rescue severally overweight.  You can see that in his before and after photo in his bio. He worked hard and is now back to a healthy weight and just needs to maintain.    Rusty requires a home with no steps or minimal steps. He is currently in a home that has mostly single steps and where there are two steps, he has a ramp. He had to have spinal surgery so limited steps are a must. Steps are also needed for him to get on and off the couch and bed.    Rusty has seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy.  He is taking meds three times a day to prevent them. The meds do cause him to be extremely needy. He is very vocal until his needs are met.    Rusty would not be a good fit for an apartment. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Rusty Wallace’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Baby Stitch(Stitch) is available for adoption.     This Doxen mix is 10 months old and is a breeder release puppy.  He came from a sad situation and is not use to human touch.  When first reached to be touched he would back away; not aggressive just scared. With patience and time he has warmed up to his foster mom.   Now Baby Stitch enjoys walks, belly rubs and snuggling on her lap.    Baby Stitch is working on house training and will go to the bathroom when taken outside.  He is crate trained.    He is looking for a forever home with another dog where he can continue to learn a happy dog life and trust humans.   Stitch is a fun puppy with puppy energy.  He enjoys playing with other dogs, running around in a fenced in yard and playing with chew toys. He has mastered his puppy puzzle toy!   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Wilber is a 2.5-year-old purebred Basset Hound with a big personality and an even bigger heart. We’ve had him since he was just 8 weeks old, and he is truly one of the sweetest, most loving dogs you’ll meet. He’s incredibly friendly, affectionate, and full of goofy charm—he loves to make his people laugh. Willie is a high-energy Basset who enjoys playing with balls, chewing on bones, and treats. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and knows basic commands like sit and stay. When he’s comfortable, his fun, silly personality really shines. Wilber would do best in a home where he can be the center of attention. He thrives when he’s getting lots of love and consistency. He is not a good fit for homes with other male dogs or children, as he can be anxious and has shown resource guarding behaviors. Because of this, he needs an experienced and patient owner who understands dog behavior and is willing to continue working with him.
