Story
Moonpie was rescued from APA in Brentwood in 2021 when he was eight months old. He turned five this March. He is an athletic and energetic Dachshund mix. He loves outdoors and thrives around dogs of all sizes. He is easy going and does well around small children & adults. He likes snuggling with humans and enjoys sleeping under blankets where it is dark. He has a big voice for his size and loves to let it out frequently. He has never been crated at home. However, he does well in a crate and will go in voluntarily. He has stayed on the same exact diet since being rescued in 2021 & enjoys it. He has never had any health issues/concerns and has stayed up to date with Rabies, Distemper, and Bordatella vaccines since being rescued from APA.

Story
We are the Comedy Club litter. Hoot, Riot, Scream, Laugh, Squawk, Cackle and Cluck. We have small bodies and big personalities. We are a mix of dachshund/chihuahua and who-knows-what-else. We came from a situation where there were over 40 dogs! Our mom was a petite 20-25 lbs and dad is believed to be a chi/beagle mix. So, we should stay small, but full of character. Think of us at the world's tiniest improv troupe. We are ready to bring laughter, love and a little joyful chaos to our future homes! We will be just over 8 weeks old and ready for new homes on Saturday, March 28. We can be pre-adopted in the meantime and picked up at a PetSmart Adoption Event in Springfield, MO or Rolla, MO on the 28th. So, if you want to get dibs on one of us, get on the schtick. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2675393##
